I was at my favorite CVS at lunch to get the Pepsi deal. I also had 2 coupons for $1/2. The manager was the cashier and he told me that I can't use coupons on sale items :rolleyes24: I asked since when? He said always! So I just left my buggy and walked out. I go to this one at least twice a week and my normal cashier was working the photo area. She would have taken them. Has anyone else heard of this at CVS?

That's baloney....
I've had a few places not let me use coupons when things are on there final clearance (you know on the special shelf...where they sit until they are purchased or thrown away.
I'd contact corporate CVS.

I think I would have done the same thing, but also call CVS customer service, because that sounds like a crock to me! I've never been told that, nor is it on 99.9% of coupons. There are some coupons usually store coupons that say cannot be used on sale items, or something along those lines.

Never.......they are obviously grossly misinformed. ). I would call CVS @ 1-888-607-4287 and have them send you the corporate coupon policy and make sure this is not the individual stores policy. Not only can you use a manufacturer coupon with sale items but you can also use a competitor coupon in conjunction (some CVS stores take competitor coupons, check your local stores). I love CVS but they can be quite a pain in the back side at times. Hope this helps.

If that was the case why do so many of the ads tell you to look for coupons in the Sunday paper? Yep call corporate on this one so he can be properly trained. You may also prevent someone else from having to deal with this issue. When they make up rules like this and no one does anything they know they can get away with it and the rules will only get nuttier.

I called and she said he was absolutely wrong. And she's going to have the district manager call him. I'm going to stop by after work and see if he's still working and educate him :hysterical:

Yes, call. Also please let all of us know the results of your call. We are great shoppers and must support each other in our quest to save money on things that are already to high priced.

I always keep CVS Corp # in my coupon box, just to use in cases like this---especially when you KNOW they're wrong (I can't believe the manager would actually tell you that!). I bet if you would have mentioned calling them while you were in the store, he would have backed down and said, "Well, I'll do it for you THIS time..." He knows darn well they take coupons!
Can't wait to hear what happened when you went back in & confronted the manager. He better have given you a big apology!

Perfect resolution. That is actually what I would have done. I have had to do this with one store that was just out of control. The district manager called me personally to take care of it. Now the employees that had the issue at the store are super nice. (Only bc I have the DM Behind me :) )
That is absurd! No coupons on sale items. What an idiot! He clearly doesn't want sales for his store and doesn't understand that a coupon is CASH!!!

I believe I overheard someone (I believe he is an assistant mgr) talking to another employee yesterday about how CVS gets repaid for the Extra Bucks from the manufacturer.......BUT then he said "Manufacturer coupons, that's where we take a hit".....LOL he obviously doesn't understand how coupons work!

Yeeeeeeeeeah, I have a SM that was VERY happy months and months ago when I told him I had bunches of $20 coupons for onetouch glucose meters I wanted to use. Needless to say he ordered lots of them in for me to SPEND my coupons. :D He is also currently trying to order in the J&J kits for my raincheck. :D Some *smart* managers LOVE coupons!

I do not know how someone at that level can make a statement like this? I guess he must be terribly confused. If something this simple gets confused, I would hate to think about what other difficulties other shoppers would face at this store!

This was one of the first posts I read today and I nearly spit out my tea! Sheer nonsense! I only buy sale and cleareance items at CVS and with q's. So if they change that policy, I will take my business elsewhere, as would so many other, I believe. But of course, it does not make any sense. Maybe he forgot his morning caffeine fix and was not thinking clearly?

I coupon like most people on this site so I share your frustration. However, I do work at a grocery store and I can tell you getting reimbursed for coupons can be hit and miss. If you have too many of one kind of coupon sometimes the manufacturer will refuse to pay. They demand reports that prove you have purchased enough merchandise to have accepted that many coupons. Then they may or may not accept the movement reports since they require them to be on your suppliers letterhead and your supplier may or may not be willing to jump through hoops with you to convince the coupon company you actually bought enough stuff. We also need to keep in mind that some people (not any of us of course) copy coupons and of course that ruins it for everyone. Maybe this manager has been burned by fake coupons and would rather write us all off.
Don't anybody egg my car or anything I am just offering another side of this discussion that some people may not know.

Too funny........I can't stand Wags. It has to be an out of this world deal to get me to step foot in that store. Not to mention when they do have a great deal they only have maybe 5 of the items in stock. What a pain they are....lol.
