That's a pretty awesome meat department FLIP. It is not just on Butcher's Brand is it?

That's a pretty awesome meat department FLIP. It is not just on Butcher's Brand is it?

It says "$5 off $20 purchase in the Meat Department" on the coupon, so it should work for all meats. I'd much rather have the $2/$5 myself.

If you get the Split Chicken Breasts on sale for $.97lb:

$20.08 - 8.4lb Split Chicken Breast @ $2.39lb
-$11.93 - MVP discount - sale price $.97lb
-$5.00 - $5/$20 Meat Flip
$3.15 for 8.4lb Split Chicken Breast

not too shabby...

As nice as the $2/$5 coupon is, if you are trying to make the very best of it you would not purchase more than $5.00 pre-MVP.
With this coupon, you can get more meat, or bigger cuts that wouldn't be as cost effective if you were only getting $2 off.
For a large cut of meat on sale BOGO, with original price around $20, you would end up paying $5! The $2 FLIP would make it $8.
Now, to go look at the meat prices.....

I havent printed these out yet, but can anyone tell me if the wording prohibits use with other coupons? I have some meat wine tags that would work nicely with this, if allowed. TIA

Does anyone know if the $5/$20 meat coupon is good on Perdue perfect portions as well as other meat?

Head's up on that meat coupon - I have next week's flyer - Labor Day Sale!

Country Style Ribs - .97/lb (reg 1.99/lb)

Chicken: about 4 pounds for 1.68.........42 cents per pound!!
Ribs: 10 pounds for 4.70
:BigHand:

Of course, for both scenarios, you just have to make sure pre-MVP price is 20.00. You might end up paying a few cents or dollars more if you can't get it exact

I'm trying to type up in my spare time . . . but I have corporate website to get up as well - I have to have SOME money to save more! But I"m working on it!

I'll put it up in pages, if a mod can make it look nice.

Maybe everyone else knows this (I didn't) about the meat flip. It works for pre-MVP price on all the regular meat.

BUT, if the meat is marked down, it only works for the mark down price. Example, tried to buy 2 roasts that totaled over $20 reg. price, but marked down to $7 each. BEEP, not enough purchased.

Yeah, it sucks. The markdown price is not dependent on MVP which is why it doesn't work. There is no before and after price it is just one price for everyone. I tried that once before too.

Just a heads up to those waiting to use the meat q on the $1.67/lb breast tenders which starts tomorrow...in Raleigh they are 50% off ($4.99), so not as good of a deal as originally planned. I'm getting the split breasts today.

Well that would be a shame - do you think maybe there will be a 3 day sale? Maybe the 1.67 is just for the weekend - trying to be hopeful!

I got 30lbs of chicken breast this past week-I also spent a good hour plus deboning and skinning said chicken.....
I weighed the chicken after I was done-
30.26 to start
3.75 skin
10.2 bones
13.1 chicken breast

It is amazing how much "juice" was in those little soaker pads on the bottom....

Spent about $14.35 on chicken after flips....

So I guess I paid $1.09 per pound of actual boneless skinless chicken breast. I saved the bones to make stock out of, but I am not sure that it was really worth it....

Wow, didn't realize bones weighed that much. The chicken isn't even in our sales paper. I hope they have it marked on sale in the store...but really...we don't need that much chicken. We need some beef.

Well the bones, take into consideration that i couldn't get ALL the meat off. I was using a knife and yes there was a little bit of meat still on there-it was impossible to get it all off unless I were to cook it and then scrap it off and weigh it. It made a huge mess and my hands smelled like RAW chicken even after washing a few times. By the time I was done Gutting (as my 14yr old called it) my chicken breasts I was to freakin tired to even bother cooking up the bones. That really took a lot of work. I would have left them in the packages and froze them, but it was near impossible to tell how many breasts were in some of the packages. Like I said, I am not 100% sure it was worth it for all the work involved. And now that I drag out my calculator, I guess it would have been cheaper for me to buy it at $1.67lb.....But if it is bogo at $4.99 then it wasn't....

I did luck out yesterday at one store I went to they had some of the ground beef marked down further than the $1.88lb down to $1.12 and I was able to get 14.53lbs and use my flip (and I got a package of pork chops too)....I have managed to miss a store special at HT twice with $.99lb burger so I was happy as a clam to get the meat I did find. I also just got a bunch of cube steak at HT the other day too. I was completely out of chicken so I was happy to get this sale (but not happy to "gut" them breasts).

The flyer is up online, and no 3-day sale. I just think that some areas get better deals. Country style ribs aren't in the Raleigh flyer either, just the pork back ribs $2.99/lb.

As for the split breasts, I cook mine with bone-in to help retain moisture and save on time to de-bone.

Wow. Thanks for doing the work so we can all know the comparison b/t boneless and bone-in!
Looks like at best 1/2 lb boneless roughly = 1 lb bone-in
That's a lot of skin....eww.
