I went to store #1 and didn't find the item I was looking for. I got a raincheck and left.
I decided to stop at store #2 and found what I wanted. I bought two (limit is two).
Can I still use my raincheck at either store and still get ecb's even though I already purchased the limited amount? Is it wrong to do so?

i would think not because you already did the "deal".

Morally, the answer is clear. The ad says "limit x per household". Not "per card", and certainly not "per store" or "per visit". The limit is for your entire household, raincheck or no raincheck.
Logistically, less clear. You have to scan your card to use a raincheck, so they certainly have the means to track whether you've done it before or not. My thought, though, is that they do not currently track this. Or, at least, they do not currently stop you from doing it. Perhaps they do keep a database that affects what coupons you get in the future, I wouldn't know.
However, I have read in recent raincheck auctions something about the new "event code" and how they may be using this code to preclude raincheck "double-dipping". So they may already have the register beep if you try this.
Bottom line? I dunno... ;)

Oh I see. Well then if I did use my raincheck than I wouldn't be doing anything less moral then those who have more than one card per household, and buy more than the limit per household, right?
I've seen posts on here where a person has more than one card per household and that's how they get a lot of stuff. I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just saying I'm jealous I don't have all the stuff. J/K LOL
So technically I could use my raincheck and get away with it, the problem is only ethical right?
I'll have to think about it (are the items worth the hassel?). I might even ask the manager from my fav store and see what their perspective is.
Thanks :)
Can anyone else elaborate or post whether or not they've actually done this?

During Black Friday last year, I accidently had the cashier write me a raincheck for oos razors when I was also helping my sil get the right rainchecks. She did indeed need the rc for those, I had already purchased mine on another day in another town so when I discovered this I just disposed of it. Didn't know about the trading then as I was rather new to all this, but if it happened again I would either toss it or trade it.

I think with the old rainchecks it didn't matter. However, with the new"event codes", I think that they are tracking the deals. I have had two experiences with this. One that made me think that they were tracking the deal and its limits and then another one that made me think that they weren't.
The first scenarios was for the bayer meters. My raincheck said for 2 and I could not remember if I had actually purchased one or not, so I figured I'd get two and then let the register beep if it needed to. I did get both at the sale price of $14.99, but only 1 $5 ecb printed out. This lead me to believe that I had actually purchased one during the week in question and that they had kept track of it.
The second one was more recent. The first store I went to didn't have the electrosol so I got a raincheck. The next one had the items so I purchased them. A week or so later, I still had leftover cpns for the electrosol and I figured that I would use the raincheck, but just get the sale price and not get the $10 ecb. I considered the price with just the cpn to be a good deal and the ecb was icing on the cake. Anyway, I did the deal and I rec'd the $10 ecb.
I also have had different experiences with the new event code rainchecks in regards to ecbs. The old rainchecks were always written out for the "net of ECBs", so if the deal was $3.99 with a $3.99 ecb, they would write free on the raincheck. With the new rainchecks, the cashiers need to write the sale price, the ecb amount and the event code. Then when you redeem it, you pay the sale price and then get the ecb printed. Well, some stores around here still net them when you are redeeming them while others have you pay the money up front and then they do something special at the end of the transaction to get the ecb to print out.

auilar_9, you have a point about using the rainchecks in comparison to those that have more than one card (if the limit is truly one card per household - seems to be different answers on this on a CVS front). I have actually asked the same question and it all boils down to your beliefs. I'm not sure they can tell if you have done the deal since the deals no longer show on your receipt once the week ends and b/c they are forcing the ECB. But I see nothing wrong with what your asking. IMHO.

Thank you!
I'm a legal secretary (specializing in criminal defense) so I see conundrums all the time, however my dilema would be considered a petty crime. :hysterical:
Ah well. Like I said before, I'll weigh my options/beliefs.
I thought for sure that I could technically use my raincheck but I wanted to see what everyone else thought.
Any other perspectives?
