cvs-$10/$20 scenario help?

I received two $10/$20 coupons for a new store opening here, which I am thinking is the perfect opportunity to get started with CVS (I am in Northern CA where they have recently opened here). The coupons expire 9/4 so I can use them this week, next week, or the week after. I have done some couponing in the past, mostly at Walgreens, but have been slacking off lately and with CVS here I want to get started again.

I'm hoping someone can help me out with some possible scenarios for maximizing ECB while minimizing OOP cost. I don't have the greatest coupon collection, I have most of the inserts for the past couple months but no duplicates. Are there any really good deals I should look out for? I especially need shampoo/conditioner.

edit - I forgot to mention the 10/20 coupons say they can't be combined with other CVS coupons. Does this include ECB?

No, it doesn't include ECB.

The best thing to do if you have no ecb's to start and no mq's, get as close as you can to $20 worth of free after ecb items, use your $10 off coupon. Then for your second transaction, buy the shampoo/cond you need with your ecb's.

There are actually 2 different printables for the carefree, one for $1.00 and one for $.50, so the carefree would be a moneymaker

I got the $10/$20 as well and I also live in northern ca. Part of the problem with trying to figure your deals out is knowing what the ad will be for northern ca. I have looked and planned out and got extra papers for deals that ended up not being in our area. I have tried to look at the deals for southern ca and even those vary most of the time I have found. I wish we had someone who could post the northern ca ad. Sometimes I can get the ad on Saturday evening but that is the soonest I have been able to get it.
