Ah, that would explain why I didn't find it... :giggle2:

Could be a few good deals if we get doubles. I will get to posting matchups as soon as I can. DH invited some people over for tomorrow night, so I'm having to do a bunch of stuff tonight that I had planned to do tomorrow night. And then, clean it all up, too... :whistle67:

Man, I was hoping for a deal on Bisquick. We usually get so tired of the GM deals coming every other week and now I want to see a good one come back! We are almost restocked for winter this year but just need some Bisquick! (I don't shop during the winter)

Oh well, I guess I have about 10-12 weeks before the snow starts flying and about 9 weeks before I have this baby and stop shopping anyway!

So I am curious why you don't shop in the winter and how? Do you not shop AT ALL? Including milk, etc. Just wondering about it.

I bet she just stocks up all year for winter then just goes to the corner store for things like Milk, bread , but I know a lot of people that freeze all their Milk and bread and even butter , so really none of us need to shop if there is 6 feet of snow outside I say , just like we had last winter and that was a scary , but for my self I do not like the taste of milk that has been frozen , everything else taste the same to me after froozen , I really might like about doing that this year , except the milk .

Yep, you are right. We keep an 18 month food storage for the almost 6 of us. You can check out my stockpile pics in the stockpiling forum. Those are form about 2 years ago so I need to update them. But I just hate driving out with 3 small children in the snow. We had such a terrible winter last year that I was SO thankful that we had food storage. I have a 4x4 truck which makes the snow easier to get around in but when the ground is covered in ice, it doesn't matter what you drive! I didn't grow up in the snow like my DH did so I'm just not used to it and I don't want to be! We still go out all the time during winter, I just don't drive. But since I usually shop alone, I can't talk my DH into making shopping trips with me twice a week for stuff that I can buy right now and already have on hand. I remember that storm that dumped 6 feet of snow on us in about 30 hours and that was H**L even though I wasn't going anywhere! My hubby picks up milk and bread as needed on his way home from work. I freeze all my butter but I won't freeze milk either. We keep a decent stock of bread but we go through a loaf every 2 days so we can't store enough for the season. I think it's a pain too to get my kiddos all dressed up in snow pants, jackets, gloves, hats... just for a trip to the grocery store! Thats just too much work unless we are spending hours outside building snowmen!

Anywho... back to the deals. Or no deals? Hehehe

Crabtree-I have checked out your photos before and am very impressed. We are LDS too so I know where you are coming from on the food storage thing. I was just really surprised that you would not shop at all. Maybe I should consider doing that this year if the weather gets bad. I have 3 little kiddos as well and it is a pain to get them in and out of coats to shop in the winter.

I did not grow up in snow in NV (or if it did, it melted by noon) and lived most recently in St George, UT which is just slightly cooler than Las Vegas so it (almost) never snows. Now we live in Northern Utah, and I just about died the last two winters. I can't get used to dealing with having to consider whether it is safe to drive to the store. My first winter here I had to pass on 20 packs of free Scott TP because the coupons I had ordered arrived the day they would expire, and I would have had to drive out in a blizzard so it just ended up not being worth it.

Now that we won't have Albies here in Utah after October 1, I guess I won't feel bad staying home this winter since I won't be missing any deals.

Back to the lack of deals... I wanted steamer veges on this sale. BOOOOO!!

BOOOOO!!

I still can't believe that Albies is pulling out of Utah...or to be more accurate that SuperValu is. What other grocery chains do you have in Utah? Are there any good local or state-specific stores?

Anyway, back to this week's ad - There's a potentially interesting deal. Buy 5 glaceau smartwaters for $5, get 2 free odwalla bars. If we get 3 doublers this weekend (keep your fingers crossed), then you can get 6 smartwaters for free with 3 $1/2 qs plus the free odwalla bars! The insert qs for smartwater expire 8/23 but I found a good hangtag q that expires 12/31/09 - $1/2 smartwaters and any produce item.

The Albies stores have all been sold to Associated Foods which we already have an abundance of. In my town I currently have an Associated Foods store and an Albertsons so I will soon have two AFS. I almost never shop at the one we already have because their deals just aren't that great.

We also have Smith's here in Utah which is Kroger owned. They have actually had a few good promotions this past month after a year of not much to be excited about. The problem is they are about 12 miles from me (in another town) instead of 2 like the Albies store. I don't even have a Target or Walmart in my town to fall back on. It really was a sad day when I heard the news.

Wow, wish I had more storage space. Impressive stockpiles. Little do the kids know that I plan on using one of the bedrooms for my stockpile when they move out. LOL

Any word on doublers for this week? The ad from the store website wasn't horribly impressive. BTFE promo.

Denise, gorgeous stockpile, you're so organized too! What about eggs? I don't even know if those are something that CAN be frozen, or is that something you pick up every once in a while during the winter?

Yes you can freeze eggs, out of the shell and mixed. I am sure there are other ways as well. I know a lot of people put them in ice cube trays.

I have never tried to freeze eggs. Really don't have the room in the freezer for something that cheap anyway! But we get WIC so I just have DH pick up those items while he is already out. We don't get it all the time but definetely during the winter when his hours are terrible!

As for Albies, I don't see a single item I need this week so I get a break until hopefully better deals come back next week! Actually none of the 4 different stores we have hear have anything good this week so I'll just get back to packing up all that food storage! Fun, fun!!!

Acc'd to last weeks ad, the Kraft coupon deal from last week goes through Sunday, 8/23. The sale prices ended, but it looks like the $5 cat and MIR are still supposed to print, acc'd to them. Has anyone had this work lately?

ETA: Here's a deal to do with doublers:
Vitaminwaters or Smartwaters are 10/$10
Extreme deal for the week is that you get 2 free Odwalla bars wyb 5 smart- or vitaminwaters. The CVS reinventing beauty coupon flyer has a 50c/1 vitaminwater coupon.

5 vitaminwaters $5
2 Odwalla bars FREE
- 5 CVS RIB q's 2.50
- 3 doublers 1.50
Final price is $1 for 5 waters & 2 bars. If you had coupons for the Odwalla bars, it's be a MM.

Even if you just used a CVS q and a doubler, you could get a free bottle of the vitaminwater.

Should we start another "doublers deal" thread? Yes? OK, I'll start one. :giggle2:

I stopped at the Post Falls Walmart today to get a copy of All You because I heard there was a conagra insert in it. Picked one up and thumbed through it in my car - no insert. Then looked further and two pages had the coupons ripped out!

Went back in to exchange it, and ALL of the copied in the back with the magazines had the conagra insert pulled out AND other coupons ripped out. Couldn't believe it.
I took all copies back to customer service. She got me a different one from another place up front closer to the checkouts. The slimeball that ripped out the coupons apparently wasn't bold enough to do it up there.

Hopefully Walmart will no longer keep them in the back where it is easier for someone to steal coupons. How low can someone go?
