is it worth it? Anyone shop at the Clinton, MA or any other central MA locations? Clinton would be the closest to me. Looking at the online flyer I can't see that it's worth it to me to drive there. Do they have any great promos ever? I'm anxious to see your replies.

thanks!

Tara .. honestly the only time I go to Hannaford is to pick up some milk or something quick ..

I think you are better off going to Market Basket .. the prices are so much better there ..

That being said, there is a Shaws right down the street from the Clinton Hannaford .. so it might be worth stopping in ..

I did read that there is a Market Basket going in Hudson? I think it was Hudson .. maybe someone else knows the details on that.

Hannaford doesn't have that many promos but it is worth it in my book for the fresh items. I need to have produce, deli meat, seafood, meat, and some dairy and frozen food every week despite where I may find my deals. Go to Shaws for everything else, because that's what they'd have on sale. And all of these except dairy and frozen foods is where Hannaford has their sales. Much fresher than the Market Baskets in my area, and still fresher than some of the more popular ones in my area like Hudson NH. And generally the pricing on these depts for the mid end that I shop at is the same (I rotate among Sara Lee, Thin & Trim, and comparables depending on what is on sale, always choice meats). Even I have found cheaper items at Hannaford than MB more often, and when you couple that with Hannaford now has their Smart Option store brand, Hannaford is closer than ever to MB, if not the same price already.

I find Hannaford's produce and deli far superior to that of MB, but think 85% of their regular grocery items more expensive than MB, some significantly so. I occassionally will find good marked dowm meat deals (you must get there in the morning, they go fast) at Hannaford. I also find that H will run some good promotions around the big holidays on a few items that are worth stocking up on (i.e. condiments on July 4th etc. )

I find Hannaford a good place to drop in for milk and bread or other necessities, not for a full-fledged shopping trip; for that I think MB is the better option.
