I'm in Holland and two of my couponing friends were told this last week that Meijer has a new coupon policy. Apparently the new policy is that if a coupon beeps they will not take it - no exceptions. The coupons that beeped for my friends were for the exact items - size, etc. that they purchased. Has anyone heard anything about this at their Meijer?

I was at Meijer yesterday, in Indiana, and practically all of my q's beeped. Each q was for exactly what I was buying. They pushed all of them through. I can't understand why they would they would reject "beeping" q's when the Meijer Mealbox's beep every time!

Probably just a crabby cashier! I shop at the Holland stores and yesterday used a ton of q's and everyone one was very accommodating. But I have had a few be rude. One even asking me "where did you get that coupon?' It was a blinkie I picked up at Wags, not an IP. I told her out of my coupon box!

Was told this very same thing this morning.....

bought 4 Tony's pizza, strawberries, charmin and a can of northern beans. Went to an SCO and used 2 1/2 IP's for Tony's (pizza for a buck...YEAH) and I had a $1 OYNO that I used also. All Q's went thru without beeps, but the station then asked for assistance, but before it did I noticed that the $1 OYNO only took off .98¢. I wasn't concerned for .02¢, but when the cashier got there I asked what might have happened and she began to explain that as of this week all their registers had been reprogrammed and that they were told that they could not except anything that beeps...regardless!! I have been having frequent problems with Meijers programming lately.....its starting to smell fishy or worse!! :FarFromPoopin:

I have had some trouble with instead of taking off the coupons amount it has been adding the amount. YES ADDING to my bill. Me and a cashier watched it do it 2 times on me in the uscan. she was great and fixed it but keep an eye out on your total not just if they are doubling because it looked like it always does on top but the total went up instead of down.

I live in Kentucky, but I've noticed that alot more q's are beeping now for no reason.. so when I go through Uscan I always just type 'em in. They hardly ever beep that way!

I never even thought to do that - who knew! =) Thanks for the tip. I can't tell you how many beeped for me this week with the Skippy, Lipton, Ragu, Barilla, Tony's etc. I will definitely keep that in mind during my next trip!

How do you type them in? Doesn't the cashier have to do that?

Nope, if you're at the Uscan, just hit Key in Code.

I'm also in Holland. I was told this last week that their systems had been reprogrammed & that now all coupons are causing them a ton of trouble. She said coupons that are for the valid product are beeping & in some cases giving errors that don't allow them to override the coupon. (They could have, but they wouldn't because of the error. It happend to me.) I didn't purchase the item as a result. If they don't take the coupon, I don't buy the item there. It's as simple as that for me. No worries, no argument, no fight, they just lose my money. (And everytime it happens, I tweet about it (which goes to my Facebook), & e-mail them when I get home so they're aware of how much money they're losing with faulty systems.

Once again thank god a good store ... Meijers DH went to do the last of the peanut butter deal a few days ago... for some reason the coupons weren't scanning at the u-scan he was at... he stood there for 20 minutes while the cashier and the manager stood there and entered in every order he placed manually for the coupons after making sure each was legit and correct... I just love that store. I would say have those friends call the Holland store and varify this gossip that your friends heard... sounds like they just got some bad service.

Tweeting! What a great idea, especially because there are so many news reports about how so many major companies are using Twitter to try and attract customers. I think Tweeting would be a great way to get their attention. BTW, I'd also include in your email to customer service that you've put the info on Twitter too!

I was at the Mchenry, IL store on Friday night and all my coupons beeped, the cashier asked the "head cashier" a question about it and they did fix it, but not without the "head cashier" saying, "OH and I have a new coupon policy for you to read, big changes starting with coupons and especially Internet coupons." SO we will see what the future brings

I was at the Charlotte, Michigan store and had my fav. cashier tell me that they had a "coupon" meeting and are supposed to stop accepting any coupons that beep. She warned me that some cashiers would abide by that, but that she knew my coupons were always good, and I could come to her anytime, beepers or not. I have 3 cashiers there that I use regularly, because they are always great about my quantity of coupons. They are the only three that I will use unless I have the time to stand and argue each coupon. I had one cashier thru the SCO that actually stopped my checkout, took out all of the coupons that I had inserted and matched them with the items I bought before she would let me finish. The machine accepted each coupon with no problem, but because my total dropped so low she had to approve the order before I could pay. I had been warned to not go to her lane, but figured it was safe because I knew that none of my coupons were beepers and that I was only getting a few things. It was still a BIG hassle, and I would never go to her again.

!6th street Hollnd store- since my last post I had a mean cashier. She rudely said if it beeps or does not scan we cannot do anything. It was a valid coupon, and the mealbox will not scan about 75% of the time! I will ask to speak to the manager then next time this is said to me. We are doing nothing wrong redeeming coupons. If they continue to be so "anti-coupon" I may have to switch my main shopping to another store.

My mealbox coupons always beep. Are they seriously not going to take their own coupons? Hmm. I think I will email corporate about their new policy. Has anyone seen anything about the policy? My stores were still taking beepers. In fact all of my coupons last week beeped. I was at a U-scan. I might have to start doing one transaction at a time through the cashier operated ones instead of three or four in a row at the U-scan. More time, but would be worth it for the deals. I too also key in my coupons if they don't scan on the first attempt. If they are printed out, I type them in instead of scanning them. They don't seem to beep that way. And I don't have to argue with the cashier since they are already off my order. I have noticed on the mealbox ones if I type it in it comes off, but if I scan it or if the cashier does it, it doesn't come off. Of course though, the mealbox always need approval.

I have to say that it seems that 99% of my coupons beep. If they decide not to take coupons just because they beep, then really they are saying their store doesn't accept coupons anymore. I just can't imagine this in a written policy and if it becomes a written policy I shall shop elsewhere.

I am thinking I should post this in "hot under the collar"! I went this morning to the 16th str. meijer in Holland. I spent a good hour shopping. Get up to the u-scan no limit lane. I am worried because the "older woman" (don't be offended I am one of them too) are manning the lane. The first coupon I attempt to use is a service desk hand written one because my free milk Catalina did not print. It was written for 3 on one slip. So she takes off $4.50 because it says up to. Well I try to tell her it is up to for each one. so she should take off 1.99 times three. She says no it says 4.50. I try to show her another cat I have. She then goes and has a pow wow:impatient77: with two others and they keep looking over at me.

At this point I am angry! I leave the lane and my stuff and as I walk by she say she cannot take it because it is from another store. What!!!:grouch2: I tell them to put my stuff back I am going to talk to the manager. She is very nice and tells me she will talk to them, try's to make excuses for them. I tell her that I am about to quit shopping at that store. anyway so I drove all that way, wasted time and gas for nothing! I think I am going to follow up with a letter as I think I deserve something for this inconvenience and expense!

What is it with Meijer's recently? They are treating their couponing customers like trash instead of treating us like real customers! This same thing practically happened to me verbatim the other day...I'm sure some of you saw my HUTC thread.. anyway.. We should write them ( corporate ) a letter and let them know we aren't gonna stand for being treated like we're less than people! They have to know that we are all seriously considering shopping elsewhere if this is how they treat such loyal customers!

I emailed Meijer yesterday about the new coupon policy, here is what I got back today. Feel free to use it if you need it. If you notice it says nothing about beeping coupons. I think we need to call our store meanagers and see what the deal is.

Hello XXXXXXXXX,

MEIJER COUPON POLICY

We accept manufacturer, Catalina manufacturer, Meijer, Catalina Meijer, and internet coupons within certain guidelines. For Meijer, with the Catalina Meijer coupons the customer will pay any applicable sales tax on the discounted price. When a manufacturer or Catalina vendor coupon is presented, the customer pays sales tax on the full retail amount; and we rebate only the value of the coupon. We do not issue rainchecks on out-of-stock vendor coupon items.
To be valid, coupons must be presented before or on the expiration date. The customer must meet with the terms or qualifications for redemption on the coupon.
We apologize for any recent confusion surrounding the MealBox coupons. To help clarify the redemption of the MealBox coupons please know the following:
1.) Mealbox coupons may be used in addition to Manufacturer coupons
2.) Mealbox coupons may be used each time a condition is met, which could be multiple times per transaction. (For example: a coupon for $1.00 off 2 Soups can be used multiple times if you have a coupon printed and the number of soups purchased matches, i.e. 2 coupons = 4 soups.)
3.) Mealbox coupons cannot be doubled or tripled at any time.
4.) Stores have the right to limit the quantity of items to normal retail purchases per transaction.
If you have additional questions please, please feel free to stop at the Customer Service desk of your local Meijer store, and ask to speak with the Service Manager.
Thank you.

Regards,

I still have a few clueless cashiers tell me, "We cannot take both MQ & MBQ for the same item because the MBQ says not to be combined with other offers or discounts."

Idiots!
