loving this deal however do run into a problem of the cat not printing back to back or at all on the ALL. I am buying 6 ALL. cost is 21 after card then use 6 1/1 cpns from 8/2 insert and use 15 in cats from prior. total is then tax. gotta love almost free! But the gov't wants their share!

Yes you can roll these cats over. For Jewels you can roll over most cats. The only exception I can remember off hand is cats for P & G which usually say that they can not be used to purchase additional P & G items.

This is my first post and last time was my first time rolling Catalinas at Jewel. I figured the CVS thing out so I was feeling ambitious enough to tackle Jewel. I made my hubby come with though and I was glad I did, we were overwhelmed!

We did 8 transactions and ended up paying $37.28. We could have done better but we messed up on two transaction that we didn't get cats for. Oh well.

We got 20 cartons of Breyers in 4 transactions. Everytime I got the $4 coupon plus I had coupons I threw in paper plates and Doritoes cause I wasn't prepared for the four dollar coupon.

We got 6 packs of Klondikes and came out owing $1.40 on those.

8 cans of Progresso and 3 skippys was the next transaction and owed 6.39

We got 16 jars of Ragu that were 26oz and added up to 31.36 before preferred card but for some reason didn't print out catalinas Maybe it is only certain Ragus but nothing was marked oop 11.14

No catalinas on the next order either because the cereal came up at different prices than on the shelf. Oops now I know for next time. OOP 13.28 for 8 boxes. OUCH! and no catalinas.

Now I think I get it though and next time will be better!!!!

I'm new here. After a couple weeks of lurking I finally decided to join so I could tell you my experience with this deal.

I am/was a cashier at Jewel. So any questions you have, go for it! Today was my last day.. I'm going back to school again next week. I'm pretty knowledgeable on all the rules/procedures.

I first became interested in this cat/coupon thing when I noticed a customer do it about a month ago. She bought like five boxes of cereal, used coupons for each box of cereal.. only paid like $5 and got a cat for $10. Then she had another purchase. It was 5 or so boxes of Rice Krispy Treats, she used the $10 cat and her total was a few dollars. She got another $10 cat! I was AMAZED... and decided to research it. That's how I ended up here.

I finally decided to do this Catalina deal since it looks like a good one and I actually like the products that were in the promo. I'm going back to school soon, so I decided to stock up!

I went to my local Jewel (not the one I work at) and got all the products I planned on getting.

Here's what I got:
3 bags of Gardetto's (I actually got the last 3!) - 2.87, 1.67 PC each
2 Nature Valley Nut Clusters - 3.75, 2.50 PC each
2 Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks - 1.99 each
2 Suave Body Wash - 2.00 each
1 Nature Valley Almond Bars - 2.99 each
2 Vaseline Lotions - 2.50 each

All together before PC: 32.08

I went to the self checkout and rang up all my items without scanning my Preferred Card to make sure I hit the $30 threshold. I did! So I scanned my card and the total instantly fell to 25.98. And then I had coupons for the nut clusters and fruit snacks, which dropped my total to 24.09 with tax.

I paid and received NO cats. I was so bummed out... I went to the SCOT attendant and told her I didn't receive my $15 coupons. She told me it was because I used coupons! I just asked if I could get a refund and be done with it.. she referred me to the desk. So I put all my items in a basket and took it to the desk. I simply asked for a refund because I didn't receive the $15. She started ringing up the refund and that's when the front end manager came out of the back room.

She asked the service desk person what was going on and she told her. Then the manager said, "Well, we might as well find out which item didn't work rather then go forward with a refund!" So she pulled out the spreadsheet of the UPCs that qualify for the promotion and went through each item I had. We finally found the culprit! The Nature Valley Almond Bars!!

I have NO idea why I didn't catch they were $2.99 and not the 2/$5 the ad showed. I guess I was careless and figured that since the ad said "Nature Valley Bars" it includes EVERY single Nature Valley bar package. I asked if the manager could show me which Nature Valley products qualified for the promotion... so she actually came with me to the Nature Valley section with the spreadsheet in hand and showed me which products qualified by looking at all the UPCs. She even said a few times "This is such a good deal.." She was so kind during the whole manner.

None of the Nature Valley bars I wanted qualified so I decided to simply get another Nut Clusters bag since they look good and the manager kept saying "Are you sure that's okay?" I was amazed how nice she was.

We took the Clusters back to my pile of items and she took me to a closed register and started ringing up everything. The register beeped for a Preferred Card and I figured she was going to ask me for one and say "You need $30 after the card.." But she didn't! She was like "I want to see something... There has to be at least $30 here." And I said, "I think the deal is before Preferred Savings.." And she said, "I know. That's why I didn't scan your card yet." I was amazed that she knew that! Sure enough, it was about $32 before she scanned my card. Then it went down to about $25. I then asked her about the coupons I used. She said, "Oh no... I'm not charging you for this transaction.. this is just to get you your coupons." So she cashed out the transaction and sure enough.. my cats start to print!

I've never received better customer service in my life! She went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure I got my cats. I did the deal two more times today. Got a LOAD of stuff and I still have $15 in cats to spend!

What a great deal and great service... I love Jewel.

Here's what I got and spent:

The first transaction I spent $24.09 and got the $15 in cats back.

The second transaction I bought:
3 gardettos
2 nut clusters
2 fruit snacks
3 suave shampoos
2 vaseline lotions

Total after preferred savings, $15 cats, and manu coupons was $9.52. It could have been better if I had more nut cluster $1 coupons, but I wasn't planning on getting as many as I got. Of course I got another $15 in cats.

Third transaction:
1 vaseline lotion
2 fruit snacks
2 gardettos
3 nut clusters
2 shampoos
1 degree deodorant
1 suave hairspray
1 suave gel

Total after preferred savings, $15 cats, and manu coupons was 7.91.. plus I got another $15 in cats. I'm going to stop rolling the cats now since I have MORE than enough and just buy stuff whatever I want.

So total OOP was $41.52. I don't know how to figure what it truly cost me since I rolled the cats.. is it 41.52-15=26.52 or 41.52-45=-3.48? Not sure.

Funny, the small and mighty was plentiful in my area, but I wanted the regular Stainlifter, which was out.

I had to go to three stores to find it. I got 6 and left 6 regulars on the shelf. This store was the only one that didn't have tags for the deal, so that helped me!

I ended up paying $4.00 and no cats came out. GRRRRRRRRRR.

ahhhh yes. now i know what i did wrong. i was running in with my 2 yr old right after work and he was a little crazy from being in the car seat for so long. so i was running like a madwoman trying to get everything into the cart and I had the coupons for the danimals in my envelope but i was supposed to use them in conjunction with the Breyers deal since I had that extra $4.00 cat - i was using them for my overage. Ugh. Oh well, you win some you lose some right. $4.00 still isn't bad for everything I bought and I probably wouldn't have any more time before tomorrow to run back for more stuff so oh well. I didn't get it either. I only did one transaction with just ice cream and didn't get one. Then I thought I got the wrong information so I just stopped trying to get it. I like having the ice cream to supplement to help get the total up so I can get some of the other items that aren't as good of a deal in the sale but I still want. $6.50 adds up fast when you're only paying $3 of it. I've also been getting the Nature Valley bites too to add to the total. coupons.com has $1/1 up for them. They're on sale for 2/$5 but ringing up at somewhere around $3.40. Ends up being a pretty good deal, plus, they are delicious!

There are a couple of possibilities. It could be that the cat machine was off, not working or out of paper. Always make sure that the cat machine has a green light on. If it doesn't go to a different cashier. It is also possible that the cat machine was down for updating. I think I recall reading that this occurs some time around 10 to mid-night.

The other possibility would not apply to you since you had $30 after adding the Klondike bars. Sometimes items are considered part of Osco not Jewel. This can happen for laundry detergent. If it is considered part of Osco the item will count the after preferred card sale price. When I have non-food items I always check the shelf tag to see if there is a sale price before preferred card price listed. (Be careful not to confuse it with the regular price. There should be three prices listed on a sale tag: regular, sale before preferred card and sale after preferred card.) I've have never had a problem when I do this.

Yes you can use all three cats on one order. You can also use additional cats too. If you bought 10 of the Yo-Plus or Fiber One Yogurts and used 10 $1 coupons you would only need to use 2 $5 cats and just pay tax. You would also get 3 more $5 cats. You would be able to use the 4 $5 cats on you next order.

I went to Jewel today and got 6 All and did receive a catalina for 15 also I did the pasta sauce and the ice cream everytime I got the catalinas did the deal 9 times most orders cost me about 4 through 6 dollars except the icecream I made money and the pasta sauce didnt pay a thing but I got so much stuff and used coupons many times that added up to 10 or more off the orders still have the 15 catalina left gotta love it

But I bought them several days ago and they count(at the same store). Who knows what's wrong?

I think it only prints one set of cats per transaction, regardless of how much you buy.

I was getting cats for Breyer's on all my ice cream orders last week, but have not gotten one at all this week. So, I'm guessing it must have ended on Saturday. I was very sad on Sunday when all that printed off was my $15 cats and no Breyer's q... :(

I started getting it again last night too. I'm guessing maybe they decided that the cat deal + the Breyer's cat was giving too much overage and suspended it part way through the promo, then for some reason started it again last night? I really don't know, though.

I'm reading on other blogs that this deal has been extended until 8/14. Prices of course have changed,wondering if anyone has tried it yet. I couldn't find any update in this forum.

I did 8 transactions last night. On the last one it hit midnight right as I finished and the cats didn't print. The cashier stated that the system updates at midnight and that's why they didn't print. Since customer service was closed they couldn't help me.
When I went back today they copied my receipt and took my name and address and said they would mail it in to the Catalina company and see what happens. Is this normal procedure? I thought I had read other people getting their cats directly from customer service.

I met an amazing super couponer last night who told me the same thing. I didn't think to ask if the prices would change. My store was still out of stock of everything so it didn't matter for me.

One of my transactions last week didn't print the cats (still don't know why - the one a couple minutes before it did), and CS gave me 3 $5 cats. One other time, I had to send off to Catalina for them because the store didn't believe that the deal worked off the shelf price. So, ymmv. I did, however, feel that the Catalina people were nice and helpful, and I got the cats pretty quickly (probably within a week or two). You could also call the Cat company yourself - they can often tell you over the phone if you should have gotten the cat or not.
