Can I buy just over a pound of cherries for $5.xx pre mvp and then $1.00 worth of some other produce item and get it all for free using the $2/$5 coupon? Cherries are $.99/lb in my store right now.

I heard you can but I don't think it is right to do so. I thought about it but I am not going to do this. I don't think it is their intention but I could be wrong, lol.

Are the cherries ringing up 4.99 pre-MVP? Or are they ringing up 1.39 as Katncaed posted on the other thread?
If they are still 4.99 reg. price, then that would work. Otherwise you would have to buy 3.59 pounds of cherries to get to the 5.00 pre-MVP price, and your final price would be:
5.00 pre-MVP
-1.44 MVP
-2.00 FLIP
$1.56 for 3.59 pounds
If you buy just over a pound of cherries, the pre-MVP will be 1.39. You would have to find $3.61 pre-MVP of other produce to make up the remainder of the $5.
Hope that all makes sense!

they should ring at $4.99/lb. without the MVP card. if you buy just over a pound of cherries (not using the MVP card) give them the coupon then the MVP card, you should get out for almost free.

The cherries at my local stores have been .99/lb since 7/19(sunday). I have pitted over 8lbs and have made 24 jars of preserves today. And had an eye doctors appt, mowed the lawn, etc. I'm tired....... :goodnight4:

The $2 off $5 is based on the pre-MVP price so, as others have pointed out, it depends on how they ring up. If they ring at $4.99/lb then deduct the $4 to make them .99 then you can get 2 lbs of cherries free or 1 lb of cherries and other produce totaling at least $1.01 for free after using the coupon.
As far as whether it is "right" - I have no problem with it but everyone has to operate under their own guidelines and that is certainly up to you.
I feel that, if FL wanted to change the wording on these FLIPs, they certainly could. They changed the wording on the Guiding Star FLIPs to read that the item had to be over $1 to use the coupon. Therefore, I feel that they are okay with the usage of the $2/5 FLIP as it is or they would change it as well, kwim? Just my .02 - LOL!

I was told (and it is probably buried in an old thread from last year) that the FLIPs and MVP are two different discounts which is why it is based off of the pre-MVP price. You don't have to use your MVP card to use the FLIP. But like PHmom said, they will change it if they want to.
ETA: Even though corporate says it is okay doesn't mean that your store will let you do it because in the end it is up to whatever the store manager says.
