I was wondering is there a way to put all my IP coupons on one page? I have been wasting so much paper with the individual qs! i know the target ones you can, but is there a way with other IPs?

thanks so much!:thanks7:

I print one to find out where on the page it prints... then I turn the page around to print the 2nd one of the same on the other end of the paper,
flip the page over and print the other if there is all that advertisement crud after the Q. That brings it down to wasting 1/3 of the page instead of 2/3 of it.

The Q's that print smack in the middle put me right over the top!

You can cut the coupon off and put the 2/3 of the paper back in. Then you can print one or two on that one as well. If there is 1/3 left, use that as a grocery list slip.

If you're following a link to an individual coupon, then it's most likely on a site with alot of other coupons. Check out smartsource.com, coupons.com and *********.com first or any other sites that list an assortment of coupons and see if there are any other coupons you might like to print out. They usually print 3 to a page unless there is some more "advertisement" at the bottom. You can still cut off the coupon part and use the back of the advertisement to print other coupons.

Usually what I do is stop the printer que after I count to 10 so I don't waste ink on the ads that print on the bottom. Then I flip the page over and print a 2nd time. After I cut the coupons out, I use the middle piece for scrap paper. This is for individual coupons that print from bricks links. But....don't stop until you've made sure the coupon has printed! Once, I stopped automatically without looking at the printer and the ad printed first with the coupon on the bottom!!
If I'm using smartsource.com, I just have to let it run until all the coupons I've checked have printed.

I just printed out my first online coupons from my computer. Yowzers! It takes a lot of ink!!! Not the coupons so much as those ads that come along with it. Here are my questions:

1. Is there anyway around printing the add? I noticed that the first 10 coupons or so came with 1 coupon and 1 ad to the page, but the last 10 or so printed three coupons to a page with no ads. Weird? Or Normal?:shrug7:

2. If I figure out somehow to make my printer only print with black ink (like, taking out the colored inks) will the coupons still be usable in black, white and gray?

Thank you so much for sharing any experience you may have. I don't want my coupon greediness to cost us a fortune in ink! Ha ha!http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/images/smilies/thanks%207.gif

Some of the IP's have ads that take up the rest of the page, while some don't. I don't know of a way around them. :shrug7:

I've used black and white IP's and have never had a problem with them. It might be worth a call to your stores to double check that it's not an issue as each store's policy may vary.

I've actually seen some IP's with fine print that says it's valid in color or black & white so as to eliminate the issue altogether.

Yes, you can print in b&w. They will scan fine. Most of the time I print in B&W. I even use light colored copy paper too!!

As far as the ads....it just depends on the site you are using. If I'm printing from smartsource or coupons.com, I just let the coupons print. You're right, sometimes they print 3 per page, other times it may be 1 per page, so there's really nothing you can do.

Now, if you're printing from a bricks link (individual coupon that has a link) I stop my printer. This will depend on how long yours takes, so you may want to time it, but for me, I count to 10, look at my printer to make sure I see the top part of the coupon dashes, then stop the print que and I don't waste all that extra ink on the ads. Only once have I been screwed over stopping my printer without checking and only got the ad b/c apparently, the coupon printed on the bottom. So always double check your printer before stopping.

I do the same thing - stop my printer after the coupon prints and then turn the page around and put it back in and print another - so I get 2 per page!

Like the ladies above said - Some print ad's and some don't.
The places I shop accept B&W, my troublesome stores try to say its a copy but I insist they are legit.
I usually print a set of coupons at work that is B&W, and then at home I print color. My ink lasts a long time and is relatively cheap so it doesn't bother me so much.

I've just started couponing and using IP's, and have only printed them in B/W. No color--takes too much ink--and have no problems using them. (Target, Meijer, CVS) I hope your stores are as IP friendly as the ones around here.
Good luck!

I got an ink refill kit for my ink cartridges and now its really really cheap for me to print all I want.

But I still jump through hoops to save on paper. I even use the blank backs of paper from junk mail!

I print in black & white, too. I agree-there is no way around printing those ads that I know of. I found the least expensive ink jet refills anywhere.
Believe it or not it's Wags!!
Their everyday low price for black ink or color is $12.99!

Their everyday low price for black ink or color is $12.99!I bought my own refill kit. It costs about $1 to refill the black cartridge, and about $1.50 to refill the color one.

Is there a way to print from sites without printing all the other stuff thats on the page, for instance
COFFEE-MATE - Special Offers - Coupons (http://www.coffee-mate.com/coupons.aspx)
this printable, it printed the coupon and stuff I don't need
so just wondering if there is away to save ink and just print the coupons and how to do that.

It prints so fast and is the kind where you load paper standing up and it comes out bottom, I can't see the coupon till it comes out and it has printed other stuff by then
Thanks!

most of the coupons from sites don't show the coupon KWIM it has that "print" you click and it prints, I have seen coupons that you can right click and and color it blue and somehow just print the coupon only that way thus saving ink by just printing coupon.
Thanks

So what is the best printer with the cheapest ink? I am going through the ink like crazy.

I use the HP printer and Just started refilling my own cartridges for less than $2 i can refill it 5 times. All you do is peel back the sticker and use shot needle to inject the ink into the rubber circle. So easy a caveman could do it. This may not work for everyones printer but it works on my HP. I get the kit from a seller on ebay. I cant hear the difference in the way my printer sounds when it stops printing a coupon and there is a ink wasting ad so i hit cancel . Honestly i dont run into it that much

I second learning to refill your cartridges. It takes an investment of time (learning how to do it) and some money buying the stuff you need to get started, but once you do that you will save so much money (and even time if it prevents emergency shopping trips to buy ink). Once you are refilling your own the price of the ink is so small that the full page ads aren't such a big deal anymore.

Do you need it to be a photo quality printer?

I don't know if it's my printer or my computer... but I have an option for it to show me exactly what its going to print before it prints.

I second that posting the *ink wasting warning* lol. Sometimes knowing that is enough to decide the printable isn't worth it (like when its 5 cents more than the insert q!)

I listen to my printer as well. If I open the cover while its printing, it will stop and then resume when I close the cover again, so that works if I'm unsure. If its a coupons.com printable I can tell when it prints the dashed line, and then just the scissors briefly, then it advances the paper and I know to hit cancel on my printer.

Depending on your printer, you *may* have a rotate page feature where you can have it print the bottom first. That would only probably be on nicer printers, but its worth checking out your printer properties to see. Just test it first - "reverse" may mean "mirror image" lol

Also, on .pdf's, you can scale the page smaller or even do multiple pages (2) per sheet, saving ink, depending on the coupon. Usually, if the barcode prints clearly it will scan fine.

Actually, there was a new format created for posting printables that would give this warning, among others. The mod posted it quite some time ago and most people have ignored it.

I have a canon mp780 inkjet that I have been refilling and only spend about 15 bucks on ink a year. If no one has posted where the coupon prints, I always use a fresh sheet of paper. If it prints at the top, my printer allows me to cancel right then saving the rest of the paper and ink. So, I cut it out and keep a coupon scrap paper pile. Most smartsource and coupons.com I just use a third of a piece of paper. Some bricks require about 40% of the paper and I can usually get 2 of those and a smartsource out of 1 sheet. So, when I put the small cut piece of paper in, the printer prints the coupon and then right after it feels there is no more paper so it shoots it out and stops printing.

Good morning all, hope you have a great day!

I Thought I would just post a little reminder on this topic: See here (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/its-got-real/195952-coupon-fraud-hcw.html) Modifying A Coupon ( point #1 ).

OK I set my printer settings to ONLY print B&W and "fast normal".

my computer
control panel
printers and faxes
set printer properties (left side on my computer)
advanced
printing defaults
paper quality tab: print quality (bottom right) set to fast normal
color tab : click print in grayscale, click black only
click apply

and that saves TONSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS of my ink and color cartridge!!!

Thanks Jourdysmom! I was never able to make it stay on fast & economical had to set it every time, and when you just print right from bricks of course I never had that option to set my preferences. It defineatly saves on ink. Thanks again!!
