Today (7/21/09) I spoke with a very nice lady from Fry's corportate Consumer Service Department.

She told me she was unable to send me a copy of Fry's coupon policy in writing because it changes frequently.

But, the basics are:

They will accept:
-Manufacturer Coupons
-IP coupons for cents or dollars off
-Fry's In Store Coupons
-Fry's Cats
-Competitor Coupons for Rx Only
-Current Coupons-Must expire on or after the date

They will NOT accept:
-IP's for free product
-Drug Store Coupon
-Competitor Store Coupons
-Expired Coupons

VIP card must be scanned before coupons can be scanned.

All coupons must be scanned by cashier. If they are not scannable, the code needs to be entered.

Will double up to 3 like coupons.

If you have more than 3 coupons, it is up to the managers discression of whether or not they will be accepted. (She said this was to make sure that the products are not wiped out, and so that everyone has the ability to obtain the product)

If you are allowed to use more than 3 like coupons, they will be taken as face value (not doubled)

If your coupon exceeds the amount of the product, you will be given the amount of the product, not the amount of the coupon.
Example: Amps are $0.99. I have a coupon for $1.00 off. They will take $0.99 off.

*If anything doesn't make sense - please let me know and I will reword it.

Good to know. I've been told in the past that they only accept IPs up to $1, this would suggest that they will accept IPs as higher values as long as it is not a FREE printable?

She specifically said that they will take "cents off" or "dollars off". So yes, they should be taking them. The IP just can't say "Free"

They will double up to 3 like coupons. They will not double them if they say Do not double. (Sometimes the register doubles them automatically)

Hi everyone! I was curious about the Kroger/Fry's coupon policy, too, so I emailed them in August. This is the reply I got - feel free to print it or whatever for your coupon binders! I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Kaldirris

PS - it's VERY long, sorry!!

Dear XXXXX:
Thank you for contacting Fry's. The coupon policy for your area (ARIZONA) is as follows:

The store manager has the right to accept, decline or limit the use of ANY coupon upon view.
The store manager has the right to limit the Quantity of coupons or items used or purchased in a single transaction, by a single customer, or in a single day. Customers are responsible for tax on all items, even "free" items.

BUY ONE GET ONE FREE (BOGO) COUPONS AND SALE ITEMS:
Customers must purchase one of the items in order to receive one free. This is a
coupon-vendor requirement.

ONLINE COUPONS versus PAPER COUPONS:
Customers may not use an online coupon and a paper coupon together for the same
item.
The online coupon will always take priority over the paper coupon.
- Kal's note: My Fry's will scan my VIP card first, then they apply coupons at the end - I've had MANY coupons on my VIP card used, and then manufacturer coupons are applied for the same product. That might be just the store I go to, though. 59th & 101 in Glendale, AZ.

PRINT-AT-HOME (PAH) COUPONS:
We only accept printable coupons if they scan properly at checkout. We do not accept "free product" printable coupons that have no purchase requirement.

We do not accept coupons for more than about 75% of a product's value without
advance notice.
Legitimate PAH coupons will not be for a high value relative to the cost of the item. For example, a $2.00 off coupon will be acceptable for a product that normally sells for $5.00 or more, but a $2.00 off printable coupon for a product that sells for $2.25 is unlikely to be legitimate.
Coupons will be rejected if they appear out of proportion or blurry, or are obvious duplicates.
Coupons will be rejected if they appear to have been altered in any way.
PAH coupons can be checked for validity at: http://www.printcoupons.com (http://www.printcoupons.com/).
Legitimate PAH coupons are never copied, sold, or traded. Nearly all coupons are "non-transferable," meaning they should not be photocopied or scanned and distributed to others.

Coupon types accepted:
Manufacturer Coupons
Print at home (PAH) Internet Manufacturer coupons
Fry's In-Store Coupons
Kroger PAH coupons
Fry's Catalina Coupons
Competitor Pharmacy Coupons

Coupon types not accepted:
FREE Internet Coupons without a required purchase
Competitor Store Coupons (but Fry's IS currently accepting these in my area - see flyer for details.)
Drug Store Coupons
Coupons identified by the manufacturer as fraudulent.

Double coupons:
Fry's will double manufacturer coupons only. In-Store coupons are always taken at face value.
Fry's will double manufacturer and internet manufacturer "cents off" coupons up to $1.00 in value.
All Coupons that are over $1.00 or FREE are redeemed at face value.
A limit of three (3) of the same coupons for like items will be doubled.
Any additional coupons for the same items will be redeemed at face value. Coupons that state "Do Not Double" are accepted at face value only. During special promotions, coupons may be tripled or quadrupled up to $1.00 in value.

Pharmacy coupons: Drug store coupons are not accepted.

General Coupon Guidelines:
The customer's VIP card must be scanned prior to scanning any and all coupons.
All manufacturer coupons must be scanned. If a coupon will not scan, the coupon's bar code must be entered manually at the register. This does not apply to print-at-home (PAH) coupons.
If a PAH coupon does not scan it should not be accepted.
Coupons must be current and will be accepted on or before the expiration date printed on the coupon.
No minimum purchase is required unless stated on the coupon. Follow all limits stated on the coupon.
FREE, "Dollar Off" or "cents off" manufacturer coupons cannot be redeemed for more than the purchase price of the item.
Coupon use is subject to availability. No rain checks or substitutions are given for out-of-stock manufacturer coupon items.
All coupons that state "Redeem at check stand" or "Save on this item" can be redeemed at the point of purchase.
Catalina coupons that are refused or forgotten by the customer should be thrown away immediately. At no time may an employee keep Catalina coupons for personal use unless that employee is the customer purchasing the product that generated the Catalina coupon.
Coupons that appear to be fraudulent must be presented to a member of management
immediately. It will be the manager's discretion as to whether or not the coupon in question will be accepted. When management approves a coupon, they must initial and date the coupon.
Coupon refund may not exceed the price of the item including VIP discount.
Alcohol, tobacco and pharmacy coupons are accepted at face value only.
There is no limit on manufacturer "free" coupons.
Note: Stores may limit the free coupons in order to ensure product availability for our customers.

Sincerely,

Rhonda Bryan
Consumer Affairs
