does anyone why fl is updating the mvp cards w/ our phone #

Thursday, I stopped by and got a few things and she ask me for my phone number that she had to update my card. She said it was for milk tickets,but I am not buying that reason at all.
I feel like it is a way to keep up with what you are buying and how many flips we are using.
I maybe wrong but that is what it seems like.

Anyone notice this?

I would just nicely reply that I don't have a home phone, only a cell phone and I only give that number to friends and family :)

most of the other cards, kroger, HT, CVS all are linked to your phone number, if u dont have your card with you, you can use your phone number as an alternate, me i use the phone number i had when i was a child....

as far as them tracking what you are buying, they already do that, that is the point of having the cards in the first place!

You guys are right, its when you forget your card, they have the computer software now to use your phone number to cross reference your card. My husband works for Food Lion:) They are dead set against using the "store card" anymore.

I, too, think it is just for their convenience - to help out if you forget your card. They can already track what you buy by using the card itself, I don't see how having your phone number would make any difference there. If you don't want to give it to them you can just say so - you could even say what a PP said about your home phone - "I don't like to give out my number"
