We decided to this month to feature a male couponer because, although HCW dominated by female members, there are indeed guys that like the thrill of the hunt as well. In my experience getting to know the male couponer they can be a bit different in their aproach, but in the end it is about scoring a great deal and the rush you feel in getting hundreds of dollars worth of groceries for a few bucks.
This month's member profile is BayshoreGuy, we chose him because he has a lot of good posts, tips, and according to his rep score (oh wait, maybe it DOES matter) others find his posts usefull too!
Below is Patricks member profile:
Name: Patrick
Age: 47
Home State: Florida
Marital Status: Currently attached
Kids: None
Pets: 2 cats - Rupert and Cordelia
Little Known Factoid: I often check out the carts of others in the grocery store and offer them a coupon if I have extras.
I use an Excel spreadsheet to figure out my shopping totals to the penny.
OCD - you bet!
Favorite Money Saving Tip: #1 Suscribe to the threads for the stores you shop.
#2 Simple - Always buy your items when they're on sale and use you coupons!
#3 Always p/u your coupons in pairs - and use them with BOGO's when possible!
Budget: No budget here - I try to keep my receipt totals under $10.00
Stores I shop: Publix, Albertson's and CVS sometimes
Coupon Organization Method: I have two hanging filing boxes,I file my inserts by date after writing the date of the insert on the front. I cutting only when I'm going to use them.
I also have 3 small shoe boxes - 1 for blinkies, 1 for tearpads and peelies and the last one for single coupons I find or cut but haven't used.
I then match/cut them using the weekly HCW threads for my stores.
Spreadsheet and coupons used are matched before I go into the store. So I know what I'm going to buy and spend before I go in.
I try to stick to my list. :)
Best Advice to Newbies: Read the FAQS. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Be sure to stay on top of your organization. It's very easy for it to get out of hand and that can be very frustrating. Don't give up.
Thanks Patrick for being a great HCW member!:BigHand:
