I just got back from the Kroger in Latonia. I have a bunch of the $1/1 Tyson fresh chicken coupons and wanted to stock up while it was still $1.99/lb. I picked up 8 packages and the cashier stopped after 5 and said "the manager won't let us take more than 5 of the same coupon". I responded that I had never heard of that at a Kroger. She said it was up to each manager to determine limits. I just asked her to remove 3 of the packages and return 3 of the coupons...no big deal. Went to another Kroger and finished them.
So...have any of you experienced this? It looks like on the thread about the policy that this isn't consistent - but that thread is several months old.
I have to go back as the bagger also left out 2 packets of Grillmates - so I plan on asking them about it when I go back...but was wondering what you all had experienced.

Never my Kroger is awesome and it states in big letters on the windows, unlimited manufacturer's coupons. Even when I have had free coupons they have always been great. Sorry you had this experience.

My Krogers as well take unlimited coupons, but it IS up to the managers. At Hillsboro, I asked at the customer service counter for a definitive answer on how many manu coupons they would take total and how many would double. At the one in Wilmington, the big sign in the window says "Unlimited manu coupons."
I'm sorry you're having trouble. :(

It is at the manager's discretion. Yes, they advertise unlimited, but due to some unethical couponers and shelf clearers at certain area Kroger stores, some managers do limit them. You might just go to another Kroger and use the rest there. Latonia is notorious, Manders13 had a bad experience there too.

Are you talking about the Kroger right on 16/Winston Ave, near Valu City, Dollar Tree etc? They have a big poster in their window, that specifically states UNLIMITED Double Coupons, and the $1/1 aren't even doubled, so I don't know what the problem is. I would ask to speak to a manager if this happens again, and if THEY try to argue it, walk them over to the sign. We shopped their just Sunday and used 14 of the Tyson coupons all at the same time, with no issues, so I really think it has to do with the cashier and maybe who may have trained him/her. Sometimes the computer beeps and if they don't know why, they make stuff up! =) How nice of me to say this, since my own mother is a cashier at Kroger!!! LOL

Well, Manders13 spoke with the store manager, and was given that line. Then corporate said it is up to the manager. It is wrong and unfair, but unfortunately corporate backs the managers, no matter what!

The corporate marketing director told me several months ago that they can't limit your coupons, but that they can limit your purchases. So while cashiers may not understand that and will use the wrong wording, the manager limits are actually on how much they can buy at once. And it makes sense, especially in areas with more issues. I've found that the more urban or transient the neighborhood (that means more people moving in and out and not as many homeowners) the more issues they seem to have. Its not like some of the suburbs where you get to build relationships with the same cashiers, the same customers. And they have more people trying to pull things.
The Florence Mall Kroger told me the other night they limit to 6. I was in getting 8 of the lemonades, and the cashier told me 6 was their limit. I politely said "Since when?" and asked for the manager. The manager told the guy to take them over his shoulder but I went up to talk to him. They're nice in that store but I hardly go there--its crowded and not as nice as the Burlington/Union ones nearby. Anyway they said they vary it based on sale and supply. That store was still well stocked on that and he let it go through. But I never get that at the other stores in my area. I always limit myself to 10 of an item or less, usually 4-6. But they can do it.

I also try, whenever possible, to limit to 10 or less like items to stay under the radar.

I am in Hannibal, MO and the limit is 2 of same coupon. Really makes it hard when doing some of the sales you buy10 and save$5.

as for the latonia store, cecismom is right. Back at Easter i had a headache of a time.
And LMKIA, thanks for trying to clarify but this had NOTHING to do with "limits" on items.
The store manager straight up did not hide the fact he hated couponers.
Told me if i wanted to come in and buy up his entire store, im more then welcome too. But if im using coupons- he will limit me.
Corp told me the store manager makes their rules and they will back the store manager.
As i said, Delhi and Latonia, steer clear. The other Kroger to watch as well is the one on 128, in Cleves. They are sticklers too.

thank you everyone! good to know. I am not sure which Kroger I'll switch to, I seem to have something going on at each...but I'll start staying clear of Latonia. Too bad it's the one with a gas station.
*shakes fist at crazy manager*

Im not in KY or i would try and give ya a hand.
The manager and me really got into it to the point of him insulting me and me being banned from the store. I didnt post about it on here because it got really ugly. And No to those of you who say "why would you fight over a coupon.. bla bla bla"
It wasnt the fact he said "no" to what i was doing. I've been told no before many a times.
I dont like being told because im a couponer im poor and try and steal from the store.
Round about of the incident was:
I had 20 coupons for .50/2 cadbury eggs
they had HUNDREDS of them in a clearence bin (4 bins to be exact)
I had 40, went to check out, Cashier gave me a "look" called the CSM over who called the other red coat over who then called the store manager. He told me that i couldnt do it. I said fine no problem. He then must have thought i couldnt hear him and told the 2 red coats he is "sick of these poor people comming in for something free"
Now, im a nice person usually. But when i hear that, yea i got a bit... well not nice.
All i said was "Umm excuse me?"
He then told me im a fraud and only looking for hand outs.. i told him straight up that i wasn't doing anything illegally.
he then told me to "buy them with out the coupons, you can have as many as you want then" (Uhh whats it matter??)
And the OXYMORON that topped it off was:
"Well couponers come in and clear my shelfs. If you want to come in and clear my shelfs and store and NOT USE COUPONS... please do. I would be more then happy to have you do that"
I wont get into the rest of the situation, but if you were at the store the saturday night BEFORE easter, yes that was me up at the customer service desk having a shouting match with the manager and Loss Prevention.

as far as the KY stores, i regularly shop at the bellevue store which is coupon friendly. both cold spring locations have been super helpful when i have had coupon issues (forgetting to scan a coupon, etc.) and have praised me for my savings. the newer cold spring one (near meijer) has a gas station.
i've shopped at the latonia one because it's right behind CVS, and haven't had any problems. however, i don't usually do major coupon deals there.

R you saying that u are using the same coupon and they r scanning it more than once or do you have multiples of the same coupon? I'm new to this coupon thing so I may be a little dumb. Maybe they need to do "Coupons for Dummies". I didn't know you could use 1 coupon multiple times if that is the case. Amazing....:wavehi:

You can use one coupon per item generally. The wording on the coupon dictates. If it says one per item purchased, and you purchase 6 items, then generally you can use 6 coupons. If it said 1.00 off 2 items, you would need to purchase 12 items to use 6 coupons.
