I have a post in The Coupon Swap that I would like to delete. I don't see a delete option.

members can not delete thier threads. You can edit it instead to reflect that you have traded.

You can go into the thread and delete write that you've traded the item you are looking for.

Why can't we delete our post?
We decided only mods/admins we'll have that feature. You are welcome to edit your own post. If you really feel that you have a post that needs deleting, please PM an Admin for review.

Is there a reason why we can't? I don't understand. I have never been to a board that didn't let me delete my own post.

I am a member of at least 3 other forums that do not allow members to delete their own posts. When a post is deleted by the OP others posts go bye bye too. Its a decision we made. That about sums it up.
Not the end of the world. You can edit your post, and you can PM a Super mod or admin and we can consider deletion of a post.

Of course you can do something about it. You can PM a mod who has the ability to delete.

So if someone ask for advice. They get it. And don't want the post with their asking there anymore, there is nothing they can do about it?
Yikes! I hope I never have to ask for advice.
IMO, if you mean, asking advice about a couponing issue and then get an answer or opinions, then it makes sense to leave it up. Others may have the same questions and the answer/opinion could benefit others.
Even in a non-couponing sense, someone else might be in similar circumstances, and the advice that was aimed at you might help them out as well.

Certainly if you are asking for advice, it's likely something someone else might want to know too. No problem is all that original.
Again, we also mentioned above, if it really needs deleting there is the option of PMing an admin.
Not sure why this is such a point of contention :Eh:

Seems so complicated.
I'll just be careful about what I post.
It's nice that you can still edit your post though.
You are entirely within your rights to be as cautious as you feel the need to be. We would like everyone to operate within their own comfort level around here!:AllBetter:

Is that what happend to all of DAGG's post?
Yes, when all people who had deleting power at the time: old owners, new owners, and former mods deleted threads by people who asked for money back and were deleted from the board, or those of us who deleted our own posts, all the sub content was deleted with it. We don't want to see that happen again, so you can edit your comments, and other users' answers will stay.

Again, you can edit your comments down to nothing. Is there a need to delete other people's answers? Just curious why you would feel uncomfortable about not being able to fully delete an entire thread with other people's answers? Honest feedback will certainly help Admins make better decisions for users, so any insight you would like to share might be helpful.:BigHandWave:

It's not that big of a deal because you can always edit your post, so if you had some big, long, drawn out post, you can always edit it down to a nice, little "NM" if you want (that means nevermind). I like it better this way, less confusing. Over on DAGG when someone deleted their own post in the middle of a thread, often the thread made no sense because posts were missing, so if someone posted an answer or comment to the post above them, and then that post was removed, it was very confusing. At least if the post is still there, just edited, its easier to figure out why the thread seems fragmented.
Just a funny aside, I remember one thread a while back at DAGG when a user posted some normal, simple question, I don't remember what it was, something like, "Why were there no inserts in my paper today, should I call the carrier?" and the next post was Mrs. P saying something like, "Because of the holiday, everyone, not just you, did not get inserts." Well, the first post was since deleted and I remember reading it 4 or 5 times trying to figure out if Mrs. P had gone crazy and just started talking to herself, LOL!!!

I posted a FAR deal that had expired. I realized that I couldn't delete it, so I just posted that it was a dead deal. It wasn't a big problem.
Personally, even though it's a slight problem at times, I prefer that people don't go around deleting all of their posts. That was a big problem on DAGG and so many people's posts disappeared who had contributed to many threads. Then you're looking around for a thread, and you find that it is gone.
I think that if you're uncomfortable with something staying posted on a board, that you probably shouldn't post it. If you post something and later think that it was a bad idea, then you can plead your case to the Mods. JMO though.

The other nice thing about going in and posting DEAD DEAL and leaving it up, is when the deal is revived again (all the condom freebies come to mind for some reason :pimp: ) then it can simply be updated. It's nice to see the prior info for a promo when it's revived - how fast it came, any problems with it, etc.

i see one possible issue is if someone replies to an OP and QUOTES any or all of the OP text and then the OP wants to edit their OP, the quoted portion in the reply remains as originally posted.
this has happened to me - I posted an erroneous GDA which was then quoted in a reply. i PM'd the replying member to kindly ask they edit their reply post to avoid confusion.
hope that was/is an ok solution/option for this scenario.

That is fine. The person that quoted you or a mod/admin can edit the quotes.
