I was at Jewel last night and went to self check out. When I scanned my coupon (Breyers, no reason for it to beep), it gave me a message stating that coupons needed to be entered at the end of the transaction. It was the end of the transaction and it just would not go through. So the girl came over and couldn't get it to work either. Finally another cashier came over and said the 'change' must have gone into effect already instead of Tuesday. She scanned all my coupons (no beeps, but had to be entered in assist mode). Apparently you are no longer able to scan your own coupons at self check out!!!!
No the biggest deal ever, but it's definitely an inconvenience.

I got the same thing at my store starting last week. They said that store was piloting this new way of doing it. I don't think the cashiers were too happy about the store changing it.

Yup, bloggers have been mentioning it and I finally had it at a store Saturday. They have to come scan in assist mode. That's kind of defeating self-check. I do understand they need to do it for checking exp. dates, but then they better have someone there at all times. I can't tell you how often there is NO ONE in sight to help the SCOT, but there are 7 lanes of it!! c'mon guys!

Yesterday I was at a Jewel on one side of our town and they had to scan them at self-checkout. Then today I went to a Jewel on the other side of town and the system let me scan all my own coupons at the self-checkout. Very strange.

Was at my local Jewel today and it wouldn't take my coupons either. The cashier in charge of SCO had to scan them in assist mode for me too.

I noticed today when looking at my receipt that instead of each coupon saying 'scanned coupon' it indicates what the actual coupon was for next to the value 'ragu, breyers, etc.)

Yeah, tried self check out at two stores today. I couldn't scan the coupons my self. Need the cashier to entered in assist mode. The cashier tried many times and it didn't work, she called the assistant manager, after carefully read each of my coupons, the assistant manager finally made the coupons going through. Waste lot of time. Maybe I wouldn't self check out at Jewel from now on when I use coupons.
