trying to do that would make couponing too complicated for me. It is hard enough to remember what coupons you get often and the ones you rarely get, and what items are on sale alot and which ones are not, and trying to match sales and ads for 5 different major grocery chains.
So, you want to know when Jewels has the cereal for $1.99 instead of $2.29? or am I misunderstanding your question?
In my area at my stores they have the items on sale with price discounts OR they do not have them on sale. THEN other times they do better than a sale with B1G1 free on those items.
ex: one week Harris Teeter might have Eggo 2 for $4.00.
A month later they might have Eggo B1G1 free.

You really can't know. And you can't know that you'll have a coupon when that does happen. All you can do is recognize what makes a "good deal" for your purposes and stock up accordingly. For example, if the cereal comes out 50% less than normal, that's probably worth stocking up at least a little. When it goes 75% off, that's probably worth stocking up a lot, etc.

I can tell you that DF and I (prior to my couponing) only bought stuff on sale unless it was a major necessity. Based on that, and buying the same stuff over and over, I know what the rock bottom sale price is for most items we buy. It is when I see these sale prices that I try to use coupons if they are available. Sale prices will differ by region too.
