Many new deals are starting this Sat/Sun. What are your plans to get your week started?
I'm very interested in how veteran and new couponers start their weeks.
I plan to buy papers early in the morning, and check the free local ones for inserts, so I can get some clipping done before church. I recycle 1/2 the papers I get and use the other half for crafts for the kids.
After church and lunch, I'll take our son (daughter will stay home & nap with hubby) and do some shopping.
It's my first real week of couponing too. I know this last week was one of the better ones, but I only had one paper and still VERY new to it all. (my printer's down too)

Where are you? What are your grocery stores?
In my area the sales run Wed. thru Tuesday. My only game plan for Sunday is check the inserts to see if any match the sales ad and I've got until Tuesday to use them. If out, I get a raincheck and can buy at my "leisure" until the coupon expires. This is helpful if my freezer is full.
I'll add more advice for you if you can identify what stores you have for food shopping.

I'm in the South East (Hall County, GA)
I use Kroger for food shopping, and CVS/Walmart for everything else.
Other stores in this area: Target, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Publix (do double), Food Lion (don't double), Ingles (do double), Dollar General. I think that's it.
I need to somehow find a good deal on either Pedigree Puppy or Purina Puppy Chow cuz the dog is running low.

I have Food Lion and Walmart, Target but they all get way less than 5% of my food dollars. I do not have Kroger, Ingles or Publix.
So, you plan to do your food shopping on Sunday afternoon? Is this due to your job on weekdays?
The sales as for your stores should have been released on their websites yesterday (Wed.). You look there and locate sale items that match the coupons you have now and the ones you may get this Sunday.
You can go to 2 websites and see which coupons will be coming out on Sunday and match this weeks sales ad, now, don't have to wait until Sat. or Sun.
I almost never shop on Sunday. Coupons arrive that day but all our sales end Tuesday, no rush to do it Sunday unless this is the schedule you need, shopping on Sunday.
You mention a printer, I almost never use internet coupons, my stores have strict rules on internet coupons and severe limits so it is not worth my time to use them. Too many coupons available for trade on this site and others.
Here is my coupon week..............
It starts Wed. when the store ads are on the store's websites, unless I'm going out and will be visiting the stores. Since I have 5 food chains, more convenient to look at the store ads online, to match sale items with the coupons I have. Then I wait until Thursday or Friday and check out a couple websites to see what coupons will be in the inserts on Sunday. I can then match those with the store ads. Then I do my shopping on Monday or Tuesday and if my freezers are full, hope they are out and get rainchecks.

my Kroger flier, which is sitting next to me says May 24-May 30. Same with my CVS flier.

yes, CVS and other pharmacy sales run Sunday thru Saturday. I have no experince with Kroger. You should go to their website and look at their ad each week, it seems to come out on Sundays. Match sales and coupons on Sunday and you have until the nex Sat. to do your shipping. If you Kroger ad expires the 30th, then coupons this Sunday the 31st won't help you, UNLESS you look at the coupons that will be in the inserts and go on Saturday, and if they are out of the items you know you'll be getting coupons for, ask for rainchecks. This way you can use this Sunday's (May 31st) coupons on item that go "off sale" on Saturday the 30th.

My process is to get the Sunday papers on Saturday. In our area, the stores have them about 9-11 am on Saturday. That allows me to clip, check the flyers and be ready to hit the ground running very early Sunday morning (I like to do the shopping early morning). Then the store flyers come out on Tuesday and are usually good for 10 days, so that sale is still good for my Sunday morning run.

I really don't have many coupons at all for this current week. so most of my focus is on the upcoming week

I start checking my ads on Friday to see what I can get a sneak peek of and see if I need to order from a clipper or ebay. If I do need to order because of the deals, I order them while at work on Friday and get ready for Sunday.
Sunday I wake up at 4:30 for the AWESOME sales, and at around 7 for the decent sales. I run out and grab my extra papers at the Meijer gas station, clip in my car and run to Meijer's/Walgreens/Krogers ( all across the street from each other) and get whatever's free, then go home and eat breakfast with the fam!

My prep begins as soon as the sneak peak ads are posted (mainly CVS, Walgreens & Target) I have a notepad that I keep next to the computer to jot down the deals. Then I match coupons. If I don't have what I need, then I decide if I want to trade.
Grocery stores in my area run sales Thurs - Wed, except Winn Dixie which runs Wed - Tues. I check the WD website Tues after 10pm or 1st thing Wed morning. We don't get the weekly paper, so I have to wait for the free local paper to be delivered Wed afternoon to see the ads. From there, I decide what I need and, again, if I need to trade for anything. I'll shop at any time during the week. Since no stores double around here, I don't have any problems with bare shelves.
We get our Sunday paper on Sat afternoon (home delivery) If the coupons are decent, then I'll buy another paper. I also ask for my neighbors inserts when they're finished and also from relatives. When dh works on Sunday or 6am Monday, he is able to gather the inserts for me.
I usually shop CVS on Monday...unless there is a hot deal, then I'll make it a point to get there on Sunday AM. I clip coupons & file on Sunday. When dh brings extras, I leave them intact, unless there is a hot q that needs clipping. Then it gets stacked with the rest of my inserts (after I've listed what I have to trade in the dbase)

We get a local sunday paper that has SOME coupons in it, but not much. So I also buy the AJC (the BIG sunday paper). Hubby said he's VERY sure our recycling center won't allow you to check for inserts. He said the bins are sealed. :shrug7:
I'll ask my neighbors next time I see them outside, they'll think I'm crazy.. oh well.
I'm going to try to train hubby to be on the lookout for papers when he goes to work on monday :giggle2: I know he'll not want to, but it can save us loads of $$. I may have to look on ebay  I didn't want to have to do it, but it looks like my resources are limited.

Same thing with my local Sunday paper and the Phila Inquirer. Most weeks I've found it worthwhile to spend the extra $2 for the additional coupons in the bigger paper. On a good coupon week, I'll get a couple Inquirers.
My neighbors used to give me their inserts, until I taught them how to coupon.

You can usually get better deals on here. Get your lists set up in the db and put some posts up in the trading forum for what you are looking for and start trading with others on HCW...you can offer stamps and/or pp if you don't have coupons to trade. Once you graduate from the TNT you can start using the auction forum. HTH
You'll have to find what works for you and your family on the shopping schedule. It's different for everyone...sales weeks run different, family schedules are different, etc. Just do the best you can for now and make it easy for you to keep up with so that you don't get overwhelmed with it. Your system will change over time as you find what works best for you and as your needs change. Just keep trying and have fun with it. It is worth the effort that you put in to it.

Ok I'm really new to this. I printed off coupons off Lowesfoods.com, they expire Wednesday. I will get my paper on Sunday and start clipping then comparing with the sales papers. I'm near Lowes, CVS, Walgreens, Bottom Dollar, Aldies, and Food Lion. I do most of my shopping for groceries at Lowes since they double.

Hubby wants me to set ONE day for all the shopping to save on gas. That's going to be difficult since I'm still new. I'm assuming the good deals that ppl find are posted on here are often after sundays.
My plan for now is to do it all Sunday after church and lunch. Leave the kids with hubby, so he can spend time with them. That way I wont get interruptions while shopping and calculating deals. So I can be part of the group that gets 1st pick at the deals (since they all start sunday here). The majority of my shopping is Kroger (they double) and CVS.

I thought the same thing, too, but I've been able to get everything I need right here on HCW by trading. It just took some time to build up my coupon stash so I would have things other people wanted, and then the trades started coming in. Post on the Trade board with your haves and wishes and you'll probably get some offers! I've gotten some "hot" coupons in the inserts, but they are coupons I'll never use (don't like the product, etc.) and people on here really want them, so I've been able to swap easily. I'm always keeping my eyes peeled for blinkies and tearpads and hangtags at the grocery store, I pick up extra booklets, and I ask my neighbors for inserts, etc. So far it has worked! I doubt I'll have to go to ebay at all. I don't want to spend money on coupons that I can trade for here.

I shop Walgreens, Alberstons, Save-Mart, Lowe's, Kmart, and occasionally Walmart and Target. All grocery stores run Wed.-Tues. and the rest run Sun-Sat. My couponing week is usually as follows:
Sunday: I subscribe to the paper, so I flip through it to see what coupons we got. If it's a good week, I'll go out to buy more. If there's an awesome deal at Walgreens {say, the free Nivea Bodywash a couple of weeks ago}, I'll drive around to the three Walgreens in town and pick up a deal at each store. However, you will not see me at a store before noon.
Tuesday: Depending on the ads, run by Alberstons to pick up last minute deals and/or rainchecks. If I really want the item, I'll go by all three Alberstons.
Saturday: Depending on sales, hit the mall, Kohl's, Old Navy, etc. in the morning. Otherwise, shop for vegetables at Save-Mart/Lowe's, meat, milk & cheese at Albertson's and occasionally, price-match at Walmart. I usually go to Walgreens to pick up last minute deals.
Depending on the deals and how busy I am, I'll pop in and out of Walgreens throughout the week. This isn't a problem for me since I drive by one when I go to work/school and if I take an alternate route, I can easily pass by another one.
