Aparently someone told me that Walgreen's and Jewel's catalina machine company are the same, and that Jewel will take RR from Wags. I haven't tried it yet. I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with it?

I have used them before at Jewel BUT it was BEFORE their new coupon policy took effect (May 1st). The new policy is really unclear about whether or not they will still accept them--I suggest preparing yourself for a "coupon discussion".

What have you heard about the new policy other than Jewel not taking unexpired coupons anymore? I have been uneasy about going back since I am unclear about what all the changes really are.

there are random reports from different people in other boards that at some HT and Meijers, the managers have said that the WAG RRs have been returned to them UNPAID. some stores have now posted notices at their registers that they will not accept these WAG RRs anymore.

just make sure to clear with the store managers just in case these are also returned UNPAID to them by clearinghouse.

I work for Jewel and was told as long as the Walgreens catalina say "manufacturer coupon" that yes we can take them. Our main thing with the coupons is not expired, purchased correct products stated on the coupons, and cannot use multiple coupons for the same single product. For instance, a coupon I have says "buy one ritz crackers 13-16 oz get one wheat thins artisan free". Those 2 items for the 1 coupon. You cannot use another coupon for $1.00 off a ritz crackers or $1.00 off wheat thins unless you buy more boxes. As long as we all follow the rules we shouldn't cause grief through the line for either party.:BigHand::wink7:

I have a big problem with purchased correct products stated on the coupons. It is at times very subjective (especially with wine tags as they don't often state a specific product but a generalized range of products) and the last time I checked out the person that needed to give approval for questionable problems was making up her own ridiculous rules that it made me feel that she had a personal vendetta against me.

Please don't take the following personally because most of my dissatisfaction has been with Supervalu corporate policy, although my last shopping trip involved the unprofessional behavior of the store's management team. Since Supervalu's take over of Jewel's the only thing that has kept me coming back was helpful and courteous attitude of the rank and file employees and the store management team (recently there has been some changes in the management team).

"As long as we all follow the rules we shouldn't cause grief through the line for either party" does not cut it for me. It means just put up with what we want and forget about customer service. DM agreed I should not have been treated the way I was that day. The store manager did not call back until I called the DM again. He only covered the issue of the items I need to exchange and was oblivious to the behaviour of the management team. The man did not even apologize to me. I was to ask for an asst mgr when I came in to make the exchange. The asst mgr just talked to the service desk over the phone and did not come down to talk to me in person.

After talking to the store mgr I feel that he and his mgmt team are just making up their own rules in addition to corporate policy changes. I have the feeling that some of the people that have made my shopping experience at the store pleasant will not be there much longer. The only option I see to not cause grief for either party is to take my business elsewhere. Right now my store is off my list and I haven't been able to see the other Jewel's are aproaching the policy changes but if they are any thing like the aproach at my store then Jewel's is going off my shopping list entirely. The price cut's are a joke. I even seen one item that is listed as going down in price actually have the price raised. My main contention is that the store is no longer accepting expired coupons. Without that, I can get a better price and deal at the small independent stores. If I wanted the Wal-Mart treatment I would be going to Wal-Mart.

Again I just want to say that this is not meant against you personally. It is just that I am still fuming over the treatment I experienced at the store and the store's management's attitude on what happened and policy changes. It's just that the as "long as we follow the rules" rekindled my anger over what the rule changes are. Jewel is entitled to make their rules as long as they comply with the law (yes part of the problem was in violation of state law) but if they are no longer going to be customer service oriented then guess what - I am entitled to take my shopping elsewhere if I am not happy.

my interpretation of those kinds of coupons has always been this: if they say "BUY X and get Y free", I am entitled to use another $ coupon off on X since I am buying it. If the coupon says "buy X and Y and get $$ off", I have to buy both items on that one coupon.
In other words, the 1st coupon covers ONE item(Y), while the 2nd coupon covers 2 items X and Y. Using another coupon in the 1st situation still leaves you with 1 coupon per item.

Of course, I totally understand that you have to follow whatever rules your store makes up for you. I don't have to agree with them, and I can shop at a store that does not have that rule. The problem we always run into is "what is the rule today? or which cashier is following which rule?" since things are rarely put in writing. I don't agree with you that this type of use is fraud.

what store do you work at? and welcome! It is always great to get an employees point of view on deal hunting:wavehi:

Back to the RR thing, the Jewel on Touhy in Niles and the Jewel at Oakton and Milwaukee in Niles have both told me they won't accept Wags RR because it says Wags on it. BUT, the Jewel on Dempster in Niles accepted them. They beeped for me at self-checkout, but the cashier took them anyhow. That's been my experience.

I have used them with a real live cashier since May 1, no beeping. :BigHand:One cashier did not want to take them, but the bagger in his lane and the cashier in next lane both told him they did accept them. Funny thing though, I have tried to use the Jewel catalinas at Walgreens and they won't work.:shopping2:

I've used Walgreens RR at Jewels in Carol Stream, Wheaton, West Chicago and Bartlett without problems. On occasion, the cashier will call Customer Service to double-check it's okay but I've never had them rejected. I've used easily a half dozen at a time...just open my coupon file to the RR category and empty it out!! :BigHand:
Self-checkout works fine too...sometimes it beeps at the self-check cashier to verify coupon usage, but again, no problems. I've been told that cashiers and/or their supervisors need to manually approve an order when it contains "so many" coupons.
HTH!

It's been my experience that they will beep at the U-Scan if they are over a certain amount (like the $10RR) or if you used more coupons then you have items.
