View Full Version : How do you deal with multiple transactions?

I'm usually ok with doing two transactions in a row, as long as they're not complicated (or if one truly is for work, and one for home). But often, I'll do quite a few more transactions. I'm always afraid I'll wear out my welcome. Sometimes (especially if the cashiers and/or managers are nice), I'll go unload my cart and come right back in. Other times, I'll leave and wait for the next shift, or the next day.
What do you do when you have multiple transactions? Any tips?
Thanks!

The most transactions I've done at one time was 6. That was last week... I just do them and try to hurry... and unless it's the middle of the night, which if I'm at the grocery it often is for me, I go through the regular lanes, so that way U scanners can get in and out in a hurry.
I also make sure to warn people behind me if I still have three or four transactions left that I have multiples and coupons so it could take a bit. Most people don't seem to mind and either wait quietly or move on to the next lane. :)

If I have to do more than 3, I'll go back in, or come back another day. I also have the extreme luxury of having multiple stores in my area, so I can hit more than one store if one store is out of stock.
I limit myself to 3 transactions because I often have my small kids with me, and really any more than that and I would get my coupons and/or items mixed up.
I also would hate to hold the line, but I always try to go when the store is not busy, either during a weekday before school lets out, or early on weekend mornings. Usually weekday evenings and Saturdays are the busiest.

mmmm, stores around here have limits on transactions per day. Harris Teeter will block your VIC card after transaction (regardless of size) #5.
I have never done multiple transactions in the same buggy or different buggies, EXCEPT Lowes Foods. Not confident the managers and clerks will go for it. I just go to the car and go back in. I try to save my ice cream and other freezer items for the last trip.
Now Lowes does not mind multiple orders in one buggy. I asked first, I've done 2 alot and maybe a few times 3. I did notice someone with two buggies and if they had a coupon for most of those items, it had to be 5+ orders. I would not want to be that obvious even if Lowes has no limits per day.
I'm not comfortable doing multiple orders same trip in the store or same buggy. Not that is violates a store's rules, I just do not want to stand out from the couponing crowd.
ex: we got a new Bi-Lo and the manager was new. The first week they were open I went thru with 10 Sobes and 10 coupons for Sobe. All were totally correct coupons, etc. This new manager happened to walk by and started to bag my Sobes. When the clerk said 50 cents or whatever it was, the manager got suspicious. She opened the coupon box and swore that only one item per purchase meant only one coupon per transaction. I knew this to be wrong. She said she'd let it go THIS time. I'm thinking let WHAT go, you need to attend a seminar on coupons. After that she would give me the evil eye every time I came in the store and got ready to check out. I was doing nothing wrong, it was her lack of knowledge of coupons.
She and I rarely cross paths any more, just by coincidence. :BigHand:
