Warning: buy $40 get $10 GC problem

I purchased some Planters nuts yesterday at A&P, my receipt reflected that the balance toward this deal went up by the sale amount of planters.
Today, i purchased some more nuts at A&P in East Brunswick on Rt 18 and the total on the bottom of my receipt did not go up by that amount. i did not realize this and did another transaction. this time i realized there was a problem. the store took care of it, but be warned: there is a problem with planters as part of this deal at this store.

This happened to me too.
I found a display of $1 off 2 cans peelie near planters peanuts. Peanuts is on sale at $2. Thought this is a good way to rack up the balance. But the total on the bottom did not change.

I bought 5 boxes of Post cereal and the total did not change too.

When I bought Post Trail Mix Crunch and Post Raisin Bran the total did change.
