So I checked out the thread showing everyone's storage method and ended up going with the binder method. I have 31 different categories and then the coupons are stored in photo sleeves by brand. But I'm curious how you guys manage your expired coupons. Are you going through them every week and taking them out? When you put your coupons in your sleeves, are you keeping them in some kind of date order so the ones on top expire first?

Thanks for your help.

What I did, was I bought a thing of those Post-It flags. Just look like little strips of sticky notes. lol On the ones expiring that month I put a small flag on the front of that pocket of the baseball card holders. As I searched through for other coupons I would see those, and occasionally pull out some that were already expired. But mostly, at the end of the month, I would go through and take out all those old ones, and move the flags to the next month's expiring. Sometimes it was a task to put the ones expiring the next month, so I'd just do them section by section, or as I was looking in one part, and just put them as I see them. It made it a lot easier then to go through them all at the end of the month. Then I just flagged the next month's when I had time.

Most coupons exp mid-month or the end of the month, give or take a few days. So what I do is when I'm filing my new coupons, I just make a mental note of upcoming coupons that are about to expire. Then the day before or day of, I go through my binder and pull what I haven't used. Every now and then I'll come across a stray expired coupon, but thats rare, as I'm usually on top of keeping my binder current.

The only coupons that I have in date order are my cleaning and makeup catagories. I think its b/c I use the 9-slot card holders for them, its easier to put them in order according to exp date.

I pretty much pull expired's once a month. As I'm going through the store if I notice expireds while I'm pulling others out, I of course pull them then and stuff them in my pocket so as not to get them confused with the good ones.

:beg2: Make sure you're not tossing the expired coupons... Send them to military families overseas... We can use them up to 6 months past the expiration date. And then you can count that as a RAOK. :dance7:

I go through my stash at least once a month, and usually pull out anything that will expire in the next 2 - 2 1/2 weeks, and put those on a separate page up front (in addition to expireds, which get pulled out too). This way I know they need to be used soon, or will expire. I will try to either use them, leave some on the shelf at the store, or will end up getting put with the rest of the expireds (which will end up getting sent to overseas military families).

I go through my binder every Saturday night and purge expireds. I have 18 categories. I also go through all my trading coupons on Saturday night and pull out expireds.

I just clean it out once a month or so.

I go through my binder at the end of the month and purge. I am going to try and do like littlelilith and have a page up front for when they are about to expire. Great idea!!!
