I just got my mail with the new sales ads and guess what?!?!....Triple Q's this Sat. :BigHand:
The only problem is it does not seem to be a great ad for me.

i'm in northwest florida. I was surprised when all of a sudden kmart started doing doubles and now foodworld tripling...i can't hardly contain myself..lol. noone around here doubles or triples usually. So there's nothing too exciting in the ad this week? I was hoping to make another run out that way but if there's not that much I might skip...it's such a drive.

I called K-Mart yesterday and they said there's not a participating store anywhere in Alabama... Last time I can remember one was December 14 in Tuscaloosa, AL. I had a bill of $75.XX before Q's and then it was only $3.XX after Q's and tax... It was AWESOME! I got all of my stocking stuffers, and some cupboard stuffers as well..
Thanks very much & reps for the heads up on the tripling. Saturday's out of the question for us this week, as we are moving in on Friday, and will be catching our breath and unpacking Saturday... I'm hoping for triples on 5/2-/53 so I can take advantage as my first shopping trip EVER to a Food-World. Yahoo! Bring on the savings, people!!

I am with you...Kmart has not participated since Dec. for me either. I am in BHAM. I am wondering why we have not been bleased with the double fairy...maybe it is b/c our kmarts are barely holding on from going out of business.
Good luck moving

I did some price checking today and here are the results:
Texas toast crutons 1.89-.50=.39
Breyer's Bogo 5.29-.75=1.89/1
48 oz. Pine Sol 3.00-.50=1.50 (for the BIG bottle)
Cascade 2.99-.50=1.49
Bounty 10/$10-.25=.25/1
Angel Soft 4 pack 1.79-.50=.29!!! Definately stocking up
Lawry's small bottle (did not check the size) 1.89-.50=.39/1
French's mustard small/medium both 1.39-.50=free
My food world did not have any Flipz so I could not price check to see if they are still 2/$3.
I also saw the Pilsbury cakes are 4/$5, but don't have a q for these...

I have somehow missed every triples event that food world has done. I know it's 55 cent max, but are there number of coupons/like items limits like KMart.
They are in the same shopping center here so I can do my last round of doubles at Kmart then go to FW for triples!

I did a little price checking of my own the other night--
Ziploc Sandwich or Freezer bags-"average" size box--aka not the tiny or huge packages--$2.29-.55/1 (from a cereal box--possibly Cheerios)==$.64
Dole Canned Fruit--$1.49-$1.69--say average $1.59-.55/2 insert (expires tomorrow!)==$.77/each
Breyer's Yogurt cups--$.69-.50/4 insert==$.32/each
Hillshire Farms (large tupperware pack)--$3.69-.55/1 blinkie==$2.04----Along with this deal, get the Sara Lee Bread that is 2/$3 right now and use the Free Lay's Chips--you get 1 package of HF meat, 1 loaf of bread and 1 bag of chips for $3.54.
One other item of interest--at my store there was a display at the end of the coffee/tea aisle for Community Tea. For some reason I didn't write down the price but I'm thinking maybe it was $2.99 or $3something for a box of family size tea bags, and attached to the box was a $.55/1 peelie. I stocked up on tea a few weeks ago when it was on sale at another store, but if I needed tea I would check this out!
A question for anyone who might know--are the Sargento Artisan Cheese blends included in the 3/$5 sale? I hope so--I would much rather use the $.50/1 for the Artisan blends than the $.50/2 for the regular cheese shreds.

The only limit seems to be that you aren't allowed to get overage, and the standard "up to 10 like coupons double/triple." I went the first week they had triples and used over 100 coupons--I broke the transactions up into 3 batches because I had 25 or thereabouts of several coupons and wanted to make sure they all tripled. A manager stood there and went over each coupon to make sure there was no overage, and in the one case that there would have been, they charged me the extra amount so there wouldn't be overage--Crescent rolls were 10/$10 and my coupon was for $.35/1, so there would have been a $.05 overage, so they charged me $1.05 for the Crescent rolls instead of $1.

Okay, guys....IF we still have a Food World to go to within the next two weeks, there will be at least one more three day triple. It will either be a Thursday, Friday, Saturday thing, or a Friday, Saturday, Sunday one. I would bet on it being the weekend of Mother's Day, May 10th, if Food World survives.
The latest I've heard, and you can get the saltshaker, is that the Union is threatening to strike, stores are to be auctioned off if no buyer is found by the 28th, and that numerous buyers have looked but not bought yet. Don't know what to believe, so I guess we'll wait and read about it on the news.
Try to keep a few dollars put back, for IF the stores close, they've got to sell everything that is in them. I guess those who saw the Bruno's stores closing down can elaborate on what happens as to the pricing of the contents.
Its such a shame, what has been done to the Bruno family's dream. The company has been bought and sold over and over, and each new owner running it a little further into the ground. It hurts to watch a great Alabama tradition die.

It makes me sad too! I really like my store (except for the one manager who hates coupons--LOL!) But I guess I can look forward to a couple of more great shopping trips before it's all over!
DD and I went today and got some deals. We didn't do as good as we did the first time around with the free crescent rolls and $.29 Nesquick, but the stockpile looks a lot better now!

Has everyone read the article in today's Birmingham News Money Section, re: Bruno's/Food World?
The News has pretty much written them off.
Sounds like the best we can hope for is that someone buys each individual store (example: XX company buys the Pell City store, and another XX company buys the Hueytown store, and so on) and rehires the folks working there now. Not much chance of that happening, in reality, as any new owner will not want the Union and the Union's wages and benefits.
Save your shopping bags and items with "Southern Home" on them, they may be collectors items someday. I've been saving the ads, putting them back for showing to folks years from now and reminiscing about what once was.
