New Coupon Policy...

I have been shopping my local Kroger in Urbana for years with my coupons and last night went in to grab a few items on sale. I got 10 for 10 of the quaker quakes and 10 for 10 of the softsoap and some produce etc. I rang up my order took coupons to the guy at the self check out. He walks over and says we can only take 3 of the same coupon. What?? When did this happen? I was just in there a few days ago and had more than 3 of the same coupon. He says this is the policy and they are cracking down on the cashiers about taking more than 3 of the same coupon. I was furious, this is not posted anywhere and he says in the bottom paragraph of the ad it states we have the right to reserve limits etc. So I had him take off the 14 items paid and left!! Needless to say I don't think I will be shopping there anymore!!

Sometimes they make you feel like using coupons is stealing from them or something!! I have 3 kids and we coupon daily!! Seems like they don't want our business or something. I cleared no shelves with what I got. I even left coupons on the shelves for other people to take advantage of the offer.

Anyone else having trouble with this anywhere else? I was mortified not to mention mad!!

Same thing here at the Lansing store. My DH went there for the Quaker deal. Was told only 3 coupons. Then had the nerve to ask if he wanted the rest of his coupons back.

I can see limiting the amount of coupons that they double. But limiting the face value coupons? Give me a break.

We have been making trips there and picking up our quaker rice cakes. So I guess they are taking our coupons any way.

I don't see why they care if we are doing it all in one trip. Don't they get it that we are still going to get the deal? Just in multiple trips. I think that I will be talking to a manager about this.

Hey...it could be worse! I work for Kroger and was interrogated by Risk Management for my "excessive" coupon use. They had no case in the end , but I had to explain to them why I wanted 18 bottles of mustard. Wish I would have been more 'creative' in my answer.

About twice a month I make a trip to my closest Kroger, 19 miles away! I've been going there for about 2 yrs. now. This has always been thier policy where I shop. :rolleyes24: The cashiers there are so STRICT too! Ugh.

I guess the different stores can limit what they like, or it sounds that way! Drives me crazy! I bring hubby with me so we can at least get 6 of the good buys instead of 3. We also have left the store and gone back in. Would just be a lot eaiser if they would let me use the coupons I want in the first place! It's not like we are clearing the shelfs or anything! I mean there getting there money plus! :rolleyes24:

Which Lansing store? I have shopped at all the Lansing/Okemos Kroger stores and have never been limited to 3 of the same. I haven't been buying tons of stuff at Kroger lately though, so I may have missed it.

The West Saginaw Lansing store. I have never had a problem until now. The policy has to be very NEW.. I was just there last week and not a word was said. I just don't see how they think that they are losing out of money when they get the whole amount of the coupon plus some.

Ah, okay that explains it. I am in Okemos, so I rarely if ever go to that store. The next time Kroger gives me a reason to use more than three of the same coupon, I guess I'll find out.

Yikes... I just went to my Kroger yesterday and used 6 of the McCormick's qs and 4 Angel Soft to get my freebies... The cashier didn't say anything about using multiples. I hope they don't start giving me a hard time!

Went to my local Kroger in Mt. Gilead Ohio today and wondered if they would say anything after reading this thread. I had multiples (3 or more) for several items and the cashier didn't say a word, whew!!

My Kroger has had a limit of 3 like coupons for at least 6 years I think. It can be an inconvenience, but I make multiple trips.

the two krogers i go to in saginaw double 1.00 q's. They will only take 3 each per transaction to double. I presume they will take more at face value but I have never tried or asked, as i just do a 2nd transaction. I always say up front I have two transactions is that ok. If they tell me no which has never happened dh is with me and he can do the 2nd transaction. and if he isnt with me I will run the stuff to the car and come back in, to me a great deal is worth a little inconvenience for me.

However the kroger in mt pleasant i specifically asked last week at service desk what the limits were. He said "what limits" I said how much do you double and how many do you take of the same. He said they double .50 and will take as many as you have. Today I used 5 of the angel soft in one transaction with no problems.

I suppose as more couponers come out of the woodwork even more rules will change. I look at it as a difficulty and than I think hmm maybe not im still getting a great deal.. :smile77:

I don't know if you already know this or not, but the Kroger in Owosso and in Howell both double coupons up to $1, 3 same per transaction.

I have three Kroger stores within 8 miles of my house. One of them limits 3 like coupons per trasnaction. The other two take unlimited coupons (and expireds.) I sure hope they don't change anything.

One of my stores in Marion, OH has never given me a problem with the number of coupons, however, yesterday the refused to use the Johnson Buddies 1.00/1 on the .99 soap saying that they could no longer accept IP coupons the would make the item free??? I will try to other store larger store that seems way more coupon friendly the few times I've been there.

Trish it is a policy that has been going on for a while. When I cashiered on my last shift ( a month or so ago) it was still policy. Our ads state it, that three like coupons for three like items.

If they double dollars they do lose money. They foot the second dollar and are not reimbursed.

I didn't think they had a limit on the number of Q's that DON"T double. I know in my area (illinois) it is 2 like when doubling, unlimited when not doubling. I just used 30 quaker and 24 mccormick in one checkout run (I live too far away to make regular visits there) and had no problem at all.

Really, Kroger doesn't HAVE a coupon policy, they just kind of make it up as they go LOL.

Maybe things like this are why all the Krogers around here are empty all the time, and going out of business. Seems to me that they should be more customer friendly and try to keep the few customers they have left. They are getting paid from the coupons, so I don't understand that policy.

I use coupons like the rest of you but being a single mom with one child I don't feel it necessary for me to get more than 2 of the same thing at a time. It still gives me enough to stockpile, share with family and friends, and donate. As a customer that only gets 2 (ok maybe 3 once in a super great while) I can't tell you how many times I have gone in to find the shelves clear and low and behold someone in line has a cart full of ten and her dh has ten of everything in his cart. It is possible that some stores instituted the policy to keep everyone happy...or at least leave enough on the shelves for others to get.

I am by no means saying that getting so many is wrong, but I bet the store just thought a policy like that would eliminate complaints from people who say the shelves are always empty on certain things.
