We are planning a move to NM in about two years, and I just want to get as much info as I can about different areas of the state, as far as prices, stores, etc. We haven't made a final decision on where we are moving yet, part of that will be decided by job availability for Social Workers, Psychologists.
Any wisdom or tips you would like to share????? TIA

I am from new mexico. I live in Clovis. The selection here is not that great for stores. We have Albertsons, Walmart, Wags and small mom and pop grocery stores. I make trips to Albuquerque were the selection is better. Roswell also seems to have a good selection.

I'm from Roswell. We have an "OK" selection of stores- Albertsons, Kmart, Walgreens, Walmart, Target, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Bealls, JC Penny, IGA grocery, Farmers country market grocery. Good thing is that I don't have any problems getting deals here- shelves are always packed.

Hey Pammijo..... I am in Albuquerque, an MSW/LPC. I am retired three years ago due to health. Albuquerque, as you probably have already learned is largest city in NM but in alot of ways feels like a small town. Shopping is interesting... retail from Macy's, Dillards to Dollar General Store and Dollar Tree... with Walmart, Target and KMart Sprinkled in with a World Market and a Jackalopes for something a little different.... For Drug stores there is Walgreens.....a smathering of Locally owned drug shoppes, and every grocery store just about has a pharmacy. The most interesting thing about drug stores is some Walgreens also serves as your Liquior store. That just slieghed me when I moved out here 6 yrs ago. And most of your Groceries have a liquior store in them. Groceries stores here in Albquerque are kinda limited you have Albertson's, Smith Food and Drug, Walmart's and I have seen a Lowes and John Brooks on the westside but have never been in either of them. Organic foods there is Whole Foods, Wild Oats, Sunshine Market and several small stores. Alot of ethinic grocers ie, Mexican Markets, Asian, Greek, and even a small South African. Albuquerque is very diverse. We also have Sam's and Costco's. There are several Farmer's markets and produce stores here which are very nice. There are afew Meat shopps and atleast three fish markets I know of...we love fresh sea food. The coupon climate is like most places....some stores love us and others rue the day coupons were printed........Hope this helped you some.... if you want to talk about housing cost, crime rates, or anything else PM me....

Thanks everyone! All of this information is very helpful.Couponwitch, I am thinking that my best jobpportunities will be in your area from what I have researched so far. I still intend to stay out of the city as far as living, but it's great knowing there are a large variety of shopping options available
