Pumpkin Spice Latte

I found this recipe for gingerbread latte:

Gingerbread Syrup:
2 cups water
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup fresh espresso
8 ounces milk, steamed (with a little foam)

Garnish:
whipped cream
ground nutmeg

Recipe:

1. Make the gingerbread syrup by combining water, sugar, ginger, cinnamon and vanilla in a medium saucepan. Be sure the pan is not too small or the mixture could easily bubble over.
2. Bring mixture to a boil then reduce heat and simmer syrup, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Remove the syrup from the heat when it's done and slap a lid on it.
3. Make a double shot of espresso (1/2 cup), using an espresso machine. Use the machine to steam 8 ounces of milk, or heat up the milk in themicrowave if your machine does not foam and steam milk.
4. Make your latte by first adding 1/2 cup espresso to a 16-ounce cup. Add 1/4 cup gingerbread syrup, followed by the steamed milk. Stir.
**Note: I read somewhere else from an alleged starbucks barrista that the order the ingredients should be mixed is as follows:
-Syrup
-Espresso
-Steamed milk
5. Top off the drink with a dollop of whipped cream, and a sprinkle of nutmeg.

mmmmmmmmmm that ginger bread syrup sounds SO yummy!!!! even though im not one for "flavored" lattes all the time, that syrup sounds like it would be so good! I bought a small bottle of torranis brand irish cream about a year ago, and still have some left----oh maybe its because out of 10 lattes, maybe 1 is flavored? and i only use one capful of flavor at a time!

i do like carmel, but i dont like the store bought carmel

1/4 cup butter(real butter, margarine doesnt work)
1/2 cup heavy cream(supposedly whipping cream is the same???? i havent been able to find heavy cream here and im hesitant to try whipping cream instead)
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar(either light or dark)

melt butter in microwave safe bowl, add brown sugar and heavy cream, stir well, microwave for a minute on high, stir, then microwave again for 1-2 minutes, carmel sauce is done when bubbly in the microwave, use as you would any carmel sauce(way way awesome on top of apple cake, in espresso, or when cooled on icecream, great for dipping apples too)

as to how i make a latte, i personally prefer how it tastes "machiato style" where the steamed milk, then foam then espresso poured on top MUCH better then when its made the espresso, milk, foam----the order that you put your ingrediants effects the way it tastes (when i use my carmel sauce i put a tablespoon INTO the espresso and stir it up so its all mixed up before i pour it into the steamed milk and foam)

Bumping, because this year's Gingersnap Latte stinks. I don't like to chew nuggets of ginger at the bottom of my coffee.
