HI,
I live in a great area for coupon shopping - right on the county line between city & burbs (different marketing areas so different prices at same chains) with my choice of several shaws and several St & sh as well as mulitple walgreens and cvs stores . . .
and the more I learn here at HCW the better I'm doing on my deals. . . .
now they are putting in a Hannafords just up the road and I'm wondering if I should add them to my rounds . . . what kind of things do they typically have good deals on?
thanks!:shrug7:

NOTHING!
OK, I take that back...RARELY, there will be a good deal....maybe on meats or veggies but their prices are crazy and they don't double coupons....I go there about 2 x a year... :wink7:

I go to use my winetags (live in ME) and look for coupons and rebate forms. And to rent Redbox movies since noone seems to rent from there (or at least they are normally full or new releases Sunday night).
The meat/produce markdowns can be good deals and they often have smaller packs which makes it easy to get a pound of whatever for about $1.

I agree with everything above...great deals on rare occasion but good markdowns when you find them.

Ours is the only game in town (need I say more?).
However, I do regularly find GREAT meat deals mid-week in the morning hours. And we have a wicked awesome clearance stand in the back that I *always* check - 9 times out of 10 there's nothing there, but that 1 time in 10 makes every check worth it.
Because it's the only store in town, I'm there more than I wish. LOL

In general, I have to agree - not good. Very expensive, no real sales...kind of a bummer. It's the only grocery store in my town, too.
I will say that I have had awesome luck finding coupons there! Lots of tearpads, peelies, blinkies and pamphlets at the customer service desk. So there is that! And their clearance items are generally good deals.

i go to hannafords typically only for loss leaders, which at our store in MA can be quite good if you hit it right. i got a great deal on whole roasters a couple of weeks ago...$0.63 i think. i use them on a very limited basis (mostly because they don't double coupons and everyone else in my area does), but when i do i am always pleased with the quality of their product.

Hannaford is the only "big" grocery store in my town too. We have an IGA, but they are even higher than Hannaford. I got some fair deals yesterday ... $.55 for canned veggies that I buy for my girls to put over their dog food. I too look at the bargain bin in the back of the store ... like TwinsMomKatie said: It's that 1 time out of 10 that you might find a cool deal - ESPECIALLY when you have a good q! I found some large bottles of Newman's Own salad dsg for $1.65 & had a $1 q, so $.65 for good dsg isn't too bad!

My husband loves their brand of hot dogs. They use to have the best prices on bread and ice cream, but that has changed. I find ham butts and shanks for $0.79/lb occasionally, better than anywhere else in my area. They also have the best price I've seen on potatoes, $8.99/20 lbs, middle of winter. Other than that, I don't spend much time there. I look at the cirular every week just in case, and sometimes, there is something worth getting. I used to work there and think that most customers go there out of habit or convenience or willful ignorance. Some customers even continued to come in protest of Walmart.

My mom shops there - it's really her only option - and she really hates it. She used to be big into qs, now not so much, so she doubly hates it because she knows she's spending too much already & then can't make up any of it with qs. She's been starting to buy more & more from a Super Walmart that is semi near her - it's worth it to drive the extra 10 minutes to get the better deals.
