I just got back from the store. They refused to accept 2 coupons that were printed online that were over $1. I wasn't even trying to double those.

The manager said that it is corporate policy that they aren't accepting any internet coupons over $1. I called corporate and specifically asked about this. She did not state it in the coupon policy she read to me over the phone. So I asked about this since my coupon had been denied, and she said that it is corporate practice. When I mentioned that she had not read that off the coupon policy sheet, she read the part about the manager having final decision over what internet coupon, any internet coupon, they will accept and "that's that."

I said, "Fine, but there are other stores in town that will accept them. They did lose a sale. I had them put everything back (except for the milk, since I had a free milk coupon from PNS) because they would not accept 2 coupons." She asked what store it was, so of course I told her.

I'm just upset because it took forever to make my list and find what I needed. I understand that they can choose to accept whatever coupons they want, but they need to know that I can choose to shop at whatever store I want. If they want to be choosy, so be it.

The acceptance of internet printables is per each individual store director. Sorry it was frustrating. The policy was read to me over the phone word for word, and I translated in a post last year in the Copps/Pick forum.

It is disappointing, sure wish I could use my BOGO Coke that I got from MyCokeRewards.

With lots of newspapers shutting down, stores may have to rethink that policy to stay competitive.

Some are starting to June, Sentry by me recently started taking internet printables again, after refusing to for many years. This happening after a brand new Walgreens was built and probably cutting into thier profits.

Exactly! Now if Shopko and Piggly Wiggly would step up.

I had my $2.00 off 3 single packs Stride gum refused also - and that came from a pint publication! The cashier also held my IP coupon on for McCormicks spices up to the light and had a manager look at it. I asked why, as it is an IP and can be printed on any paper (i.e. no watermarks) and she said that she had been seeing fraudulent coupons and had to check it out. What in the world she thought she would detect on an IP I don't know...maybe she should be referring to a written LIST of known fraudulent Qs....

Most Ip's have a detection thingy, I am not postive but I thought it was considered a watermark. Lemme check.

From my conversation again from the customer experience center...."must have watermark." For example my Red Gold ip has the one under the SAVE $1.00 part. I think it's the companies logo.

Wierd about the Stride coupon, what was their reasoning on it?

Technically, a watermark is embedded in the papermaking process (worked many years in both papermaking and commercial printing industries). I have noticed a "shadow" logo print behind the coupon data on a FEW of my IP's, but not all. The "test" she was running could easily result in many legitimate IP Q's being rejected.

She said no coupons of any kind over $1. She actually took it, and wasn't going to give it back. I had to hold out my hand and ask for it.

Well this is just obsurd.
Regarding the shadow, I think that's what they are refering to as watermark. I've often wondered too if I photo-copied my coupon if the shadowing would show just the same.

I have printed very few coupons as of late, that don't have something on it. I think it's a relatively recent change in ip's, like the last few months.

I just printed Campbell's Q's and Pompeiian Q's from the mfgr websites - neither have the shadow printing. Will be checking new Q's as I print them.

My freshly printed Pompeian ( thanks for the heads-up) also has it, again really faint say's smartsource ( it's not "shadowed, in gray).

I have had this same problem at Copps and PNS here in my area. I was actually shocked when they told me they wouldn't take them. They were for $1.10, so only .10 cents over. They also do not accept any that are B1G1F that are IP.

Mine will accept buy one get one free if the free item is less than a dollar.

Our pick-n-save will only accept printable coupons up to $0.99. I have tried to use $1 coupons and they will NOT allow it. I asked what the corporate policy was and they told me $0.99. I haven't tried any higher than that. I take my high value printables to walmart (PM to pick-n-save), target, or walgreens.

GJohnson39 - you and I must be shopping at the same PnS on 83 & 16. They gave me so much grief one day..the "head cashier" tried to help my cashier out..then left me and had to talk to the store mgr, wherever they were b/c she walked towards produce and I didn't see her for a good 2-3 minutes! Then they came back and told me they could only take up to $2 worth of IP coupons?! I was like..listen I shop here EVERY Wednesday..this is a FIRST and HOPEFULLY THE LAST TIME you stop me on these IPs! My cashier kept ranting when the head cashier was gone looking for mgr to get "approval"..."we signed something about taking fraudalent/copies of coupons and I take this very serious b/c I could lose my job"...ugh..give me a break. I worked as a cashier in a grocery store..I know better than to try and "sneak one by"...

done joining the rant.

I got in interesting phone call last night from the manager at my pick n save. The person that I spoke with 2 weeks ago (who refused to take the ip coupons over $1) evidently was not the manager. The manager called my house and said that he will be having a meeting with the cashiers and will tell them to take internet coupons over $1. He also offered a $10 gift card with the apology. However, I told him it wasn't necessary and that I didn't want the gift card. I'm perfectly happy with them taking internet coupons over $1. So, I am preparing my shopping list for double daze as we speak. :)
