Also of note, for those of you buying only the Luminous variety (since they are the shelf price) you only need to buy 3 Luminous and 1 other random variety to get over the $10:

Order the extra q's for the toothbrushes. Even if they run out, you can get a raincheck and still get free toothbrushes when they get them in stock. You won't get a $3 cat (I don't think) but, you'll still get the toothbrushes for nothing.

I shop at the Brunswick G.E. Fairly new at all this. Bought three regular Colgate plus the luminous one. No printout! Returned toothpaste to Customer Service. They tried the deal at another register and said policy has changed and now it is $10.00 after coupon not before. Cashier gave $3.00 coupon just for my trouble. I did not purchase any toothpaste. I'll go back and try it again purchasing four of the $2.79 toothpaste and see what happens. Math was never my strong point!

Just out of curiousity, how did you find this out? What were the items you were buying when it didn't print? The reason I am asking is that employees do not always know better. The Cat machines (as far as I know) do not recognize whether Q's were used or not or what your ending total is, so the most that will be a problem is whether it is by shelf or sale price.

Ah - there is the problem. The Reg TP are $2.19 shelf and the Luminous is $2.79 for a total of $9.36. You need $.64 more cents to trigger the cat. Try 3 Luminous and 1 regular - should total $10.56 and trigger the cat.

I am thinking maybe the soft soap is the problem? Someone before stated that it didn't print for them either and one thing they bought was soft soap.

I just tried this GE out on Monday not knowing if they had a rule of like coupons or not. I left with a smile on my face as the cashier never blinked an eye at my 10 and 5 like coupons or the fact my total oop was $0. She was so nice and made a comment about that was the way to shop. I was so glad because I was just too tired to shop for other things and in a semi-hurry, not to mention, I spent more in Dover a couple days before.

Your totals do not ad to 10.00. My friend shops at the brumswick store also and did one order with 4 luminous and got the cat and her next order she did 5 reg colgates that are 2.19 and she got the cat for that one also. Also since you are new to this, cashiers know nothing usually and will always try to use the excuse of coupons were used.

i did this deal about 10 times today and had no problems in any of my combos. I did 5 of the 2.19, i did 4 luminous, i did 4 speedstick 24/7 womens and i did 2 soft soap body washes with one womens speed stick 24/7.

Has anyone tried it with the soft soap hand soap? I know in the OP it says the hand soap- which is 99c reg price- is included- but it's not in the ad since it's not on sale this week.
I want to do 11 hand soaps- use 11 35c/1, pay $3.19 and then get a $3 cat for each 11.
I hate when it's not advertised so if it doesn't work, I have nothing to show to prove it should.

Posted this in the weekly thread, but the Apricot Scrub body wash did NOT work for me, but the regular 3.69 flavors did. I did 2 orders with 1 body wash, 2 Ladys 24/7 deo, and 1 luminous. The 1st order I had Apricot Scrub - no cat. 2nd order had regular body wash - got cat.

Also did 1 order of 4 luminous and got the cat on that one.

All are ringing showing shelf price, so that's not the issue. I just have a feeling that the 3.99 body washes aren't programmed in to count towards the deal.

Amen to that. I had the worst experience today at the Austintown GE. The cat did not print and the CS lady told me that I could not get the $3.00 as I used coupons. I argued that then she said it went by sale not shelf price. I argued that then she said she had customers that actually wanted to pay for things and that I was wrong. So I asked for a refund and she said that as I had got it free I could not get a refund. I asked for a manager who agreed with the CS lady. there were about 4 customers behind me so I finally just left. What should I do?

I would have asked them to do a refund and give you back your coupons. They CAN do that as the cashiers can easily get to the coupons, and my mom used to work CS at big bird about 5 or so years ago (Warren Rd in Cleveland).

I realize that the Catalina will not print after the sale dates so a $3.00 credit / subtraction will be taken on the checkout's transaction.

I am the shopper that cuts out the illustrated ad and corresponding wording that is then taped to the raincheck to help document what was on sale and for how much.

Most cashiers do not realize the shelf price vs sale price difference when a Catalina promotion is offered.

You ask for a raincheck for the Colgate toothpaste or the Colgate toothbrushes and the stated sale price is … 2 / $3.00.

Well, purchasing four when redeeming the raincheck is only a ‘perceived’ $6.00 purchase instead of the required $10.00+ purchase.

When asking for a raincheck on B1G1F sale item, I like to asl / instruct the Customer Service Desk person to write the sale price as ½ price since that is how Giant Eagle registers ring up B1G1F items.

It sure helps reduce the amount of cashier confusion when redeeming the raincheck.

Listen up!! For those of you whose Catalinas did not print, here's the simple solution: Call Catalina Marketing (888) 322-3814
Have your receipt handy and they will ask for info from that receipt. They can tell if the machine was offline or malfunctioning at the time of your purchase. You will then be mailed your Catalina.

Also, If Giant Eagle gave you a giftcard to make up for your Catalina not printing, well guess what? You can still call Catalina Marketing and get your $3 coupon mailed to you! The $3 is owed to you by the manufacturer via Catalina not GE!

If you use the SCO you have a good view of the Catalina machine. Sometimes you can tell if it's malfunctioning by the lights on the side.

The 8.5oz Kitchen Fresh Hands "new larger size" hand soap does NOT work for the cat.

I have a feeling that some of the new UPCs were left out when they were programming which items will produce the cat. I plan on calling or emailing Catalina Marketing in a couple days to get the 2 I missed - one because of the 3.99 Apricot scrub and one because of the 8.5oz soap. Hopefully they'll realize they forgot some UPCs and fix them. Either that or just tell us that we're SOL and those don't count LOL

I've had several successful combos..until today, I think it might have been because I got a couple of the 25% bonus size colgate...they gave me cash so it was fine, but I didn't do extra orders. I can't take my rcpt to catalina because I dumped the TP rcpt & all in the harvest for hunger box..not that I'd feel right getting an additional $3...

Kid's Toothbrushes DO work - they're just not on sale. I posted this in the weekly thread - but figured I better put it here too just in case somebody isn't keeping up with the weekly LOL

Here's how I got them free:

2 Kids Toothbrushes (we got Dora) @ 2.69 each
2 Softsoap handsoaps @ 99c each

Man, the catalina machines at the Broad st. GE are messed up. They didn't print on my 1st or 3rd orders tonight, for a total of $8 of missing cats $6 of which was for the Colgate deal, and both were for orders that were exactly the same as my other transactions, same products and everything. I'll go in tomorrow and get my gift cards, but I thought it was really weird how it chose to spit them out for some orders and skipped others, and this was on two different cat machines, b/c the self-check froze on me on the first order. What a crazy deal.
