woohoo - does it say how much you'll save if you buy the smart ones?

hmmm, the van de kamp and smart ones could be a great deal.

Buy 6 smart ones ($10 - 1 is free w/coupon) - counts as at least $12
Buy 4 van de kamp (4/$10 - $2 off instantly) counts at $20.xx

$18 oop
-$5 cat (use one of the fusion ones to get you started)
-$4 cat (from frozen food)

$9 oop and get $9 in cats

I might do that 1 or 2 times and then just do the smart ones with some morningstar farm (I have some .75/1 DND and I'm expecting some $2/1 from a wonderful HCW'er - would only be able to use 3 at a time though but they'll count at $3.79 each so I'd only have to throw in 1 or 2 of the superpretzels to bring it up to $30 shelf price)

Yeah! Ketchup and Eggos! LOL Not together of course :-) I had to pay full price for ketchup the other day...I was horrified! And my son is going through eggo withdrawls but I told him that he had to wait for a sale, the ones we finished 2 weeks ago were from a last time the coupon was out.

I can't wait to see the coupons for this coming weekend...please please please let there be a Eggo coupon!! The 1$/1 ones on ebay state 'one coupon per visit' - I don't want to risk it. That and they are going for a crazy price!

Smart Ones -

Breakfast entrees - $3.79
Larger Meals - $3.79
Smaller meals (include mac & cheese) - $2.79 (these have a tag saying save .07 on 3 thru 7/08)

So, 5 small and 1 free breakfast entree would be $17.74 shelf (get a $5 cat and a $1 cat - pay $4 for 6 boxes and a free movie)

5 large and 1 free breakfast entree would be $22.74 (on it's own, this would be the best deal - get $2 and $5 cat - pay $3 for 6 boxes and a free movie LOL)

My two sons also say the same thing! My 5 year-old carries catalina coupons around like they are money (I let him have the ones I won't use). I'm glad to see that other people's children hear the same message that mine hear. "Sorry, we can't buy more ________ until I have a coupon AND there is a sale." It looks like this week is going to make them happy. Lots of cheese for pizza and tacos, Ronzoni for them to try for the first time and more Chex mix for school snacks.

We all seem to have great kids when it comes to coupons. My friend's 15 yr old son reads here (hi Robbie!!) and let's her know all the deals and which coupons she'll need.

The Ronzoni Bistros are delicious - my son loves them. They will be cheaper than chef boyardee and they taste better IMO.

I thought the peelies were manufacturer Q's....I saw them a couple of weeks ago on some Fruit Roll ups and could have sworn they said "Manufacturer Coupon." So, I didn't think you could use that AND one cut out of the paper.....The one I was thinking of was pink...

Also, is it kosher to swipe one off of a box for later use???? (If I am not buying that product today). Same example. I had a ton of the fruit roll ups, didn't need anymore, but saw the pink sticky coupon. Didn't take any for fear the coupon cop would get me! LOL

You all will love this one. My 7 year old helps me cut and sort. One day she jumped up from dinner and told me she had something for me and was SOOO excited. She came running back to the table with a Papa John's coupon she got from school! God bless them! Even my 2 year old helps out!

Hey, thanks to you all! I started this awesome coupon creation in late summer and have gotten more and more addicted as the months have gone on. You all are such wonderful people and so helpful!

We used to go to Kidapalooza every year when we lived in PA. It's been a few years so it may have changed, but back then all the giveaways were either trinkety things - reusuable water bottles/sippy cups, rulers, notepads - or things to eat/drink. Like drinkable yogurts and little milks. Don't remember getting any coupons but did get lots of trinkets, plus the stuff we consumed there (yogurts and milks). Plus the kids had a blast. Yes you have to drive to Downtown Pgh for it but there's a parking garage attached now to the new Convention Center - kind of where the old Convention Center was, and they've got the roads pretty well organized down there now to get in and out - organized for Pittsburgh roads at least.

We just parked in the Convention Center but if you want to save a few bucks, you can also park in the lot across from the convention center. Like most native Pittsburghers I don't know street names but it's on the corner of Smallman and the street that runs between the Convention Center and the Strip that you end up on when you come off the 10th Street Bypass. There is a light there with a walk sign and a crosswalk so you can get across the street.

Have fun if you go - I'm jealous

I had just been buying him the chicken with the penne in an alfredo sauce (I don't like mushrooms and the other chicken one has them so I don't buy them - even though I don't eat them LOL).

The rotini is a tomato sauce is really good though - I didn't think he would like it since there wasn't any meat in it but he ate all them up before he finished the chicken ones LOL

The peelies usually are manufacturer coupons (the only other peelies I have found were ones GE slapped on meats or produce that they were trying to get rid of - those can be used with a manufacturer's coupon). I've never used a peelie and a manufacturer's q.

I may take some peelies - 1 or 2 from each store - unless I know it's something that is going to be on sale the next week, then I might take 3 or 4. I always leave some for others though.

I had one of the Ronzoni Bistros a couple of months ago. I believe it was the Rotini in tomato sauce and it was pretty good. Cheap lunch. I'm not a picky eater though. Throw a piece of bread or a salad with it to dress it up....

So are we thinking that the $5OYNO is limited to one per transaction like the razors? We use a lot of the frozen lunches (dh and I take them to work all of the time) so now would be a good time to stock up. The rest of the items on the list are "extras" that we don't use too much of (like the bagel bites, french fries). I am trying to decide if I should do multiple transactions or one big one and I am thinking the multiples would be best for me...

Hey guys, here is a spreadsheet of the PPG coupons for this coming Sunday - just the P&G insert and the SS - being that we all pretty much get the RP in the mail :-) Figured it would help those of us in the burgh area (or those not who buy the PPG anyways lol)

Coupons - 3-15 - Google Docs (http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p9J1H71enSVpve0nqGVuEbQ)

There is a MIR for Lysol - if you buy any 3 different Lysol products between 3/15 and 5/15 you get 3$ back. Details at LYSOL® | Disinfect To Protect (http://www.lysol.com) I havent checked the site to see if it's in one transaction or not. But Lysol toilet bowl and all purpose cleaners are 2/4$ this coming week (3/12) and lots of Lysol coupons in this coming Sunday's SS insert.

For those who aren't getting the smart ones coupon, you can still do this deal really cheaply. Just buy 5 of the smart ones that are $3.79 and throw in a GG veggie or a superpretzel product. Not sure of the cost with the veggies but, with the pretzels and a .75/1 q, you'd only be paying $3.16 oop and you'd get the $5, $2 and red box cats.

I always appreciate your scenarios, they help me so much each week! I think I'm missing something though with this. The WW Smart ones are buy $10 worth and get $5 back. Are you buying the $3.79 x5 and getting the total to $20.00 to get 2 /$5 off coupons?

They are combining the Heinz buy 5 deal with the current frozen food Catalina deal, so double dipping. The 5.00 cat mentioned would be from the Heinz, the 2.00 & free RedBox cats would be from the frozen food deal.

It took me a while to get this one too, but I finally did (I admit, I PMd Pittsburgh).
You are buying 5 of the Smart Ones so that you get a $5OYNO - but if you total the shelf price and reach above $20, you will get another $2OYNO for the frozen food deal. So, if you buy 5 of the cheaper smart ones, you will get the $5OYNO but will need to throw in some cheap pretzels or veggies (items that count in the frozen food deal) so that the shelf price totals $20 and you get the $2OYNO.
Make sense? It took me a while too!

Yep, if you don't have the buy 5 smart ones get a free bkfst entree q:

5 of the (I think they are $2.89) smart ones would be $14.45 shelf - you would need to add something (pretzels would be the cheapest oop if you have the .75/1 q) - that will bring the total over $15 shelf price. You would earn a $5 oyno (from the Heinz deal), $1 oyno (from the frozen food deal) and a free red box rental for spending $15.

5 of the $3.79 entrees would be $18.95 shelf. You would automatically get the $5 Heinz cat and the $1 frozen food cat. If you throw in a super pretzel, it would bring the shelf total over $20 (the pretzels will count as $2.09) and will qualify you for the $2 frozen food cat.

I plan on doing the 5 smart ones and the free bkfst entree and will get the $5 and $2 cats - which will make them $3 for 6 smart ones when I roll it (and I truly intend to roll this baby LOL). I also plan to do the Kraft 2% cheese cat deal every time I go. I'll use 2 $1/2 q's for the cheese and the $3 cat from that deal to get 4 packs of 2% cheese for $3.

Once I'm done with the smart ones, I'll buy some french fries and ketchup. I have a free TGIF q that I got in a trade a while back so I'll get 4 bags of fries (I'm hoping I'll have room for them LOL) and the TGIF free entree and pay $5.

I told my friend the other day that I was dreaming the other night of having a place big enough for a walk-in freezer LOL. No walk-in closets for me LMAO.

The bistros will ring up at $1.40 and $1.39 (the shelf price is $2.79). With the bogo q, you will get one free and pay for the other one. So, the cost for each will be .70 - there are peelies at the stores and I posted a link to a $1/1 printable - those would enable you to get them for .39 ea.

The smart ones (buy 5 entrees, get a free bkfst entree) are on ebay. Someone (can't remember that far back - sorry) posted a link for $1/5 smart ones.

:wavehi:Actually, I don't know how many deals I'm going to do, and I never seem to get there early on the 1st day. My fridge freezer is full and my deep freeze is full, and I've filled 1/2 of my father-in-law's big chest freezer, I'm just about completely out of room! I checked our ronzoni today and they don't have the peelies, so that will limit my interest in them since I can only print 2 q's. I could actually use a break!

Ok, so my MIL was going shopping at GE so I told her I would meet her over there. She wanted me to get her some of the WW dinners. I don't have my ww free breakfast coupons but I do have the 1.00/5 so I went ahead and did it anyways.
I bought 10 of the 3.69 (or whatever it is) meals. I only got one 5.00 coupon, 4.00 for the frozen foods deal, and a movie coupon. I went to CS and she said it's only one per transaction. I told her they should probably post that some where. So she just gave me 5.00 in cash. Sadly I would have rather had the coupon, but it's all the same right.? :giggle2:

You would only need to buy 15 of the pretzels since their shelf price is $2.09.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to use all 18 of the eggo coupons at once - they are labeled "limit one coupon per visit" - it's in very, very small print on the face of the coupons.

Your bagel bite scenario is right on the money.

No problem. If they told me too bad, I would have just returned them and rebought them back (so they don't loose out) and neither would I. Everyone at the store calls me the young girl was stacks of coupons, so they know when I am coming to CS something didn't work right. I bought 3 of the kraft 5/10 cheese and only got a $1 oyno- I didnt catch it though until I got home... and was even at CS to get a $5 oyno because I only recvd one the two 5cats that should have printed.
I bought 3 cheese, 5 smart ones, 3 fries, 2 bagel bites and 1 GG corn ( I should have bought a 2nd GG veggie). I ended up getting a $5cat, 2- $1 cats one from kraft and one from march madness and a movie code.

I was expecting a the cheese cat to be for $2 and the march madness cat to be for $2-but maybe i am wrong

Thanks for letting us know. I wish there was a way to tell which products went by sale price and which ones went by shelf price. This is what messed up my orders last year. I did fine with the Smart Ones today and the pretzels. I guess when I added the box of pretzels the sale price must have brought me over the $20.

I have a question about the Aquafresh on sale for $1. Will the .75 coupons that double provide overage or will it just make the toothpaste free? TIA!

The only ones that appear to be on sale are the cheap kind of Aquafresh. The premium ones weren't included at my store. So if you have ones that don't specify the premium ones then they should work. I had .75/1 ones from inserts that specified Premium toothpaste and listed the kinds - none of those were on sale. It looks like there's an internet printable for .75/1 in the database that might work but I didn't have that with me to check.

Aww I love it! Me and DD (2) were at CVS the other day and picking out clearanced art supplies - I told her she had to look for the clearance tags coz the other ones weren't for sale hehe Then all through the store she was pointing out the tags and letting me know we could buy this and this and that :-)

My son is happy because he finally has his Eggos! He lost it though when I carried in two cases of ketchup :-) I brought 20 bottles home in the actual cardboard boxes! I figured it would be easier to store that way

Thanks to everyone that came in to "Cheese Chat"

I was thinking from what has been said at other boards and here that there is something in the 2% cheese and the 2% natural that is making the problems on the sliced cheese not producing a cat.

I am buying cheese today. I am hoping to get the informational cat so that I can fight it, if it doesn't work. I am going to do the shreds first - to hopefully get the informational cat, then try the sliced if I do.

Now I am wondering if they consider 'slices' - the brick cheese that is sliced and sold still in brick form?

What we are thinking as "sliced" cheese, is actually what they call "singles"....That would explain a lot.

Either way, if I have the informational cat - I can fight it at customer service because the customer service people will also consider singles as "sliced".

LOL - I am probably not making sense to anyone but myself.

Pitt - There are other coupons, from that coupon sheet where that $1.00/2 kraft coupon was, that have had issues. The coke one beeps too.

I wanna join in the cheese chat! LOL I was wondering about that 'natural sliced' wording on the cheese cat too. Does Kraft sell pre-sliced cheese in a pack other than than the wrapped 'singles'? I know I've bought some before - but not sure of the brand, probably sargento?

I'm thinking it's real cheese and not the 'cheese food' or whatever they call the american singles.

But if that makes sense, that's what I'm thinking they mean by 'natural slices' - pre-sliced deli type cheese, not the wrapped singles.

If anyone does the Honey Nut Cheerios buy 2/$10 and get a third box free keep your eyes out for a $1.50 cat to print after you scan your first box. I noticed cats printing but didn't pay attention to what they were until after I paid. You could use the $1.50 cat right then, which is better than the $1.00/3 that was in the inserts. BTW, these are really big boxes of Cheerios so it is a pretty good deal. Shop 'n Save is also running a 3/$10 Cheerios deal this week but their boxes are much smaller.

I've been debating whether to do this deal or not. I have a couple $3/3 peelies for General Mills cereal. I had been using them at CVS because they are 3/$10 there and you get a $5 ecb - only $2 for 3 boxes but, they don't have the boxes with the chance to win a free giftcard.

I only had a $1/3 coupon and I had to think long and hard about spending $9 on cereal. My 5 year-old likes HNCheerios and we have been out for over a week so I spent the $ and now he's happy again. After comparing this with the S&S deal, I figured that GE must be giving a fairly good price.

I think it is because of the $2 off instantly when you buy 4, that they are ringing that way... I have noticed that anything that has $$ off instantly rings sales price and then the last item rings up showing the $$ off.

I figure roughly these boxes are twice the size of a regular box, so 3 big boxes would be like 6 reg boxes. After Q its like paying $1.50 a box. I don't think that is too too bad for Cheerios...HTH!

Thanks jen. It's so funny how I really have to think about spending what seems to be a lot of money when I now get most things I buy for so much less than I used to pay. I didn't think about it in terms of regular size boxes but I did break it down by cents per oz. as compared to normal prices and figured it was worth it to stock up the cereal stash. Thanks for giving me another way to realize it is a good deal!

Now I hope to find a really good Kashi deal for hubs sometime soon.

I did the WW Smart Ones deal 3 times today and they lady told me that she didn't think I was allowed to use the catalina oyno to rebuy them. I asked her why not, there is nothing that states that. I said how is it any different if I put "these" (first order) in my car and come back in? She said ya true and let me get them. I ran to kmart for super doubles and then back to giant eagle to get the other stuff I needed. I had the trident .75/1 that states DND and for the first time EVER!!!! she wouldn't let it double. I have NEVER EVER had any cashier do whatever they do so that it doesn't double. Does Giant Eagle have a policy about that? I know it was only .75 but still, nobody else EVER does that. This was a very odd day for me shopping at GE. I have never had anyone say anything about "rolling" catalina coupons or not doubling a coupon. On a better note I did see a fellow hot coupon world user at GE today. I had that one time with the wetone coupons. It said DND on the coupon but was coded to double. One cashier did not want to scan the coupons. I guess he doesn't know how to stop the register to double. I bought 20 of them and he allowed me to use only 10 coupons. I did not argued. I had a cashier pull the same thing today with the Smart Ones. I stated that I did it earlier with this sale and a manager was running the register. So she accepted it - twice. Needless to say she was none to happy with me and literally threw my bread when I was starting to put groceries in my cart. It was really early in the morning when I went and the lady that rung me up was the person doing CS. I have never seen her run a reg. registar so who knows. There are a few cashiers that I just love over there. They enjoy seeing me save money. My store was out of all the good WW meals, but they are supposed to get more today. I will probably go over there tomorrow and get a few more, if my MIL has anymore room for me to put stuff in her freezer. Mine is packed to the max, and I already filled half of hers. I still want to do more since it is a really good deal. Some of my fav. cashiers will be working by the time I can get there tomorrow, so I should be ok doing them again.

The Hoffman Bvld (Independant) has a 3 'like Q' limit. The Waterfront and CIII Plaza Stores (both Corporately owned) have no stated limit - although the store manager can limit you at anytime if need arises... per the Coupon policy and discussion I had with one of their reps (very nice lady, informative, and was quick with the responses to my e-mails - seriously we were e-mailing at 10pm on a Saturday and she would get back to me in minutes) Anywhoo.... Best bet is to call the stores. I called all my local ones and was surprised when I found out some didn't have limits - I thought since one did, they all did...silly me!

The Shop n Save add for 3/19 has a manufacturer coupon for 3.00 off the purchase of 6 Heinz products, these are the same products that are on sale this week. Does not say Shop n Save on them. Will they work at Giant Eagle?

It does not work at mine - gave it a shot today - system does not recognize it - she tried to manually override and couldn't. Not sure why though - it is a MFQ, but maybe it is coded for SNS only???

I was able to use 6 today at 2 different GE. They had to override them was not a problem. Last year I tried to use them but they said Shop N Save they would not take them.

Ligonier & Uniontown PA both take them.

How recently have you used them in Uniontown? They have always told me no. They are not a corporate store, and I have found them to be very coupon unfriendly. They only double 2 like coupons and only take 4 like coupons even at face value. I watched them shoot down a lady with a $150 out of pocket order on using a 5th $1.00 coupon. They had the lady so mad she was talking about calling and complaining etc but they would not budge on the one stinkin' dollar coupon.

I was their today, I usually don,t like to go their but I go that way 2 times a week. The other GE are out of the way but much better with coupons. Today I used the fiber plus coupon with no problem. I also used only 3 alike coupons, but I also got 12 ketchups and used 2 of the coupons from Shop N Save add that was 3.00 off 6 heinz products they would not scan but she took them off.

Coupon limits in Columbus Ohio area stores I frequent are all 4 like coupons per day/person (though they have no way of tracking what coupons you use). These stores include:

Hayden Run and Cosgray
Hilliard-Rome Road
West Broad Street
Upper Arlington
Sawmill and Bethel

I went back to GE earlier today and my favorite cashier was working. I did 4 of the orders with the weight watchers with no problem. I went back in tonight to get some stamps for a trade that I did, and so I asked my favorite night manager if you were allowed to do it and she told me that corporate states they do these sales and give the OYNO coupons so that you will come back in your store, but it is really up to the individual store. She said that the coupons states "on your next order" not "trip" so there should be no problem. She said the point is to regulate the people that don't shop there often from getting the oyno coupon then turning around and getting something for free with no intention of coming back to the store, but my store doesn't really have any regulations about it. I was also told that even if it said "trip" they would let me do it, because I am a loyal GE shopper and they know I will be back in. I also asked about the double coupons and she said not many cashiers even know how to stop it from doubling. She said they don't have to let it double b/c the manufactures states not to but she is probably one of the only ones at the store that will do that. Most don't even care or look at the coupon.

At Legacy Village GE (NE OH) I had about 72 coupons for the Horizon Milk Singles all in one order. She doubled each and every one of them. I had special ordered the milk and it came in the day after Extended Price Reduction- so I was charged $1.25 a milk instead of $1 a milk. After I paid I went to CS and she re-rung my milk's at $1 and I got back my $18. Generally CS is very good about coupons and this is a very friendly store. I have noticed the last few times some cashiers not being as friendly (only 1 cat per order not friendly)

Anyway, I'm off to do a few deals at GE today. I went earlier in the week because we were out of TP and I had 2 $5 cats that were expiring and 2 .50 Charmin Q's. So not the best TP or the best deal but I paid less than $2 OOP and got back $3 OYNO for the buy 2 save $3 OYNO.

In terms of tracking ...

Oh they do have a way but ...

Basically, they are asking you to be on the honor system.

+

Also, they can refer to the statement if it becomes a problem and they want you to 'control your urges.'

+

If it became a legal issue they can pull up your Giant Eagle Advantage account and tell the court exactly what and how many coupons you redeemed in each and every transaction.

"I always feel like somebody's watching me ..."

My store has never given me an issue with multiple doubleing coupons, nor have they ever even put a sign (that I could see) up saying only 4 or 5.

I ran over 100 of the toothpaste, over 25 of the eggo's, 12 of the razors, and countless superpretzles etc. frozen goods (in different weeks of course)

That coupon is coded for Smart ones not for Heinz. So my guess is that will beep even at shop and save.
