View Full Version : Kroger (Cincinnati) ~ Other Roll Call...New Let's Introduce ourselves

We have not done this for quite awhile. Please introduce yourself, what got you started couponing, and anything else interesting!
I will start:
I am cecismom (Colleen), I have always used coupons to some degree. My mom has always been frugal and passed her ways onto me. When DD was younger, I suddenly had to switch daycares due to a dire situation. All the daycares near my new house cost a ton more than I had budgeted for. I found HCW, and the rest is history!:BigHand:Even if I won the lotto, I could never go back.
Edited to add...I am 35 years old, been married for 9 years, live in Maineville, and am the mommy to a very precocious redhead named Cecilia (Ceci for short.) I work full time outside the home as a sales consultant for 401k.

Hello from Dayton! My name is Suz and while I have always used coupons here and there, I just started "seriously" couponing around the first of the year.
I am couponing for several reasons. One is to stay on a budget of $300 a month for my husband and I (and our dog) - includng HBA, cleaning supplies, food, pet supplies, basically everything.
The second reason is to get as many free or nearly free things with coupons to donate to local shelters and the food bank.
Finally, I love couponing because it is so much fun! :hectic1: There is no better feeling than paying a ridiculously low amount at the cash register! My first trip to Walgreens I got a crazy amount of BOGO cleaning supplies (w/coupons of course) and paid $0 for it because of a prescription transfer gift card. I was hooked.
I am so glad to have found this great resource and look forward to learning from you all!

Hi. I'm Kathy, AKA Lady BeBop. As with most, I've couponed somewhat, but it seems as though the store brands are always cheaper than the national brands, even with coupons. (And since I'm in the Krogers forum, please allow me to give props to them. Their ads are true...Kroger store brand items are just as good as the national brands.)
I also started couponing out of necessity. Prices have gone up and salaries have remained stagnant. I thought I'd be an empty nester by now...instead, I still have both daughters living with me (20 and 21)...along with my granddaughter. DGD gets free formula...however diapers and baby food still cost a lot.
I've always been jealous of those who say they spent 39 cents for $150 worth of groceries. I've already learned to stock up on meats when they are on sale. However, I'm now learning that sale items, along with coupons, do equal up to tremendous savings. Last month, I did the Mega sale a couple of times. Both times, I bought over $60 worth of groceries (usually GG Steamers)...and walked out with change from my $20 bill. Needless to say, I'm hooked.
I love HCW. I learn so much from y'all...especially how to get free shampoo, toothpaste...and especially toilet paper.

Stick with it! Honestly I used to buy mostly store brands. You will find as your stockpile grows, that most times you will do better with name brands/coupons combo buying at the rock bottom time of their sales cycle! Welcome!

Hey all!!!!! I am Jessica. Yes, I too have always used coupons, but I never ever thought about using them in the way everyone one this site (and others) have taught me!!! It actually all started when I saw a couponer on the local news. I saw her total go down and was like are you kidding, she did that with coupons. It was like ahhhhhhhhhhhh, I opened my eyes and then I saw the light:idea:!. I wrote down the name of every website she mentioned and I believe I actually started researching before the segment was even over!!! Before I knew it I had a stack of notes I had taken from all the sites I visited and as Cecismom said,"the rest is history" :shopping38::shopping99:Someone should have stopped me because now I am addicted, I surrender :surrender1: !!!! There's no stopping me now!
Thank you to everyone.
The most interesting part of my life is with out a doubt the joy of my world, Nevaeh Grace-Ann, my 17 month old DD. IMO she is the most precious girl in the whole wide world :bgirl1:

Hi, I am Rebecca. I am 34 and have been married for 10 yrs this July. We have 5 kids. 1 14 yr old daughter, and 2 sets of twins. Boy/girl 9 yrs old and boy/boy that are 7!
I started seriously couponing around this time last year. I kept searching for something I could do to bring extra money into the house without working outside of the house. I like to be here for the kids when they go to school and when they come home. My husband and I were talking and he said "instead of you bringing more money in, why don't we just hold onto the money that we have"???? Smart man he is! I started researching and talking to my mom since I remember her couponing when I was a child....so here I am.
I am hooked and I love the rush of free!

Hi everyone.
My name is Monica. I've been married for 5yrs, and we have 2 little boys. We live up in the tippy top of the region in St. Marys.
We started couponing (yes, my husband helps me!) when we had our second son in 2007. He was born a little early and I had a lot of problems during my pregnancy. We knew we had to change something in order to be able to afford the hospital/doctors bills. My first big "score" was at Target when I walked out with over $600 worth of babyfood, diapers, wipes and soda for less than $90. It was amazing and I literally felt like I was on top of the world. Before coupons I can remember paying over $120 a week in groceries/HBA just for my husband and I. Now I rarely buy store brands.
Thank God for couponing and stockpiling! My husband was laid off earlier this year and because of HCW we've been able to basically live off our stockpile.

Hi I'm Nancy! I've been married for 21 years and have three kids (19, 15, 14). Between college and private high school tuition, I turned to couponing so that money didn't seem so tight all the time. I've been couponing since about November, and I can honestly say that we've cut our grocery budget by a little more than 50%. The longer I do this, the more the grocery budget shrinks! We went from about $1,000/month to just under $500. I started getting all of my info on the same local website that bluebonnet/sweetmommy, but recently I've been reading HCW much more. I was kind of overwhelmed by HCW when I first checked it out, but now I read daily. Not a big poster, but definitely a big reader!

Hi Everyone! Dayton area here too. For those of you who don't know me...I'm XUfan, also known as Carol. I'm 51 years old, and have two grown kids...a 30 year old son and a 29 year old daughter. My son lives nearby and has my two beautiful grandchildren, who are 9 and 5. My daughter lives in Texas, so I spend a lot of HCW time, finding deals for her! I have been married almost 7 years to the most wonderful man in the world...and we have full custody of his 13 year old daughter.
Almost 3 years ago, the company my husband worked for, downsized and he was left without a job. We had a severence check, and I vowed to make it last 2 years, while he went to school to learn heating and air conditioning. With the help of HCW, I made it last, and he finished school. Unfortunately, the economy got worse, and people are spending money on sweaters and blankets instead of furnace repair...and are buying window fans instead of fixing their ac units. So, HCW is an even bigger part of our lives!
We've learned so much from this site, that I wouldn't know where to start.

Hi I am Amy. I work full time at our Y. I have been married for 17 years and have 2 DS, 11 and 15.
I have been couponing for the last couple of years! I always take people in and this seems that someone always needs help. It is a big high for me to get a ton of stuff for so little money. But also with two DS it seems we can not have enough food in the house, so coupon has saved me in that way also. I searched the web when I decided to start couponing and HCW was the best site by far, plus they had morals which is very important to me. I love it here and really like all the people that I have met and got to know. Plus I love Kroger!!

Hi everybody! This is the first time I've actually posted on this site. I confess I am a regular lurker. My name is Julie and I live in St. Marys. I think that's why I posted, because I actually saw Monica was from St. Marys - small world!
Anyway, I am 41, wife of 18 years, mother of seven, child care provider and started couponing in November. I always thought I was a thrifty shopper (out of necessity) but the money wasn't going far enough. I have a friend at church who tried to get me couponing a while back, so I asked her to help me get started and this is one of the sites she gave me to help. Now, this is one of the only sites I come to. I don't have a lot of time to spend on the computer, but I come here regularly to check Kroger deals and info. I really appreciate the input everyone gives so all can benefit.
Couponing has made a definite impact on my ability to stick to my budget. Now my husband's hours have been cut at work (previous poster is correct, people are not spending money on furnaces and air conditioners).
My kids now expect me to come home from the store and lay everything out before I put it away and marvel at the bottom line of the receipt! There really is a thrill from saving money and trying things you never would have before because they were "too expensive". Happy couponing!

Hello from the Greenville area. I have been couponing for a while now, but just got serious about it in the past year. By saving money with coupons, I am able to be a SAHM! How cool is that. I was hooked when I bought enough supplies for my children's lunches for school last august for about 1/4 of what I was spending.

I am chris and I have been a SAHM since 1985. (XU fan I was so happy to see I am not the only 51 year old on here:BigHand:) I live in NE Cinti and will be married for 27 years this coming May. I have a 23 year old daughter, who just started her CPA job and is learning to be a QQ, and an 18 year old son, who started college this past fall (go Bucks!!). I started couponing as a way to buy the supplies my son would need for college, and found that it was so much fun!!:dance3: I am thrilled that I have met a whole new circle of friends:excited1: through couponing, who share my frugal interests. I also use couponing to do benevolent shopping for people in need. This gives me great joy, and is just as much of a thrill to me as getting something for free.

Hi, I'm Shelley, wife to a GREAT hubby, and SAHM to 5 kids. We live in Sidney. I like a PP have always used coupons, and my Mom was VERY FRUGAL! I remember as a kid her doing this with Hecks when they had doubles, and going to refund conventions with her as a kid. It rubbed off on all her kids as my siblings are all coupon users also. I can honestly say I cannot imagine not using a coupon for something.
Nice to read all the post on this thread. It makes it fun.

Hello all! :hello39: My name is Julie. I am 27 years old, work full-time as a Systems Analyst, and live in Trenton. I have been with my fiance for almost six years now and we plan to get married soon (if I can part with the money...it just seems that there are so many other things, practical things, that we should spend it on.). We have a beautiful six month old baby girl (shout-out to Sophie!!! Mommy loves you!!).
I started couponing in February, mainly due to a piece I saw on the news. I could not believe that you could save so much using coupons :savings:. I was a die hard store brand shopper and it always seemed to me that there were never coupons for the name brand items that I wanted to buy. It then hit me that we needed to start eating what was on sale!!!! :banghead: What a crazy idea! Who knew you could save money buy planning your meals around what is on sale and/or what you have coupons for....DUH.
I actually found HCW through the coupon site that was mentioned on the news. I haven't used another site since I stumbled upon HCW. Everyone is is so patient and seems to answer each other's questions quickly. I really appreciate the ad match-ups as well. Thanks to everyone for making this site such a friendly and informative resource!

Hello everyone! I'm Emily. I'm 35 and a stay-at-home mom of two boys, aged 3.5 years and 20 months. We live in the northern part of Loveland right on the edge of Landen. So pretty close to you, Cecismom!!
I work from home very part-time (10 hrs/week) for an environmental consulting firm. I have used coupons for a long time but in December I started to really look at how I used them and tried to be more strategic. Now instead of saving 10% on my groceries I am saving 50-60%! It is definitely a rush!! I am so grateful to everyone on this site that has been helping me learn and to my husband for tolerating all my trips to Kroger, Meijers and CVS!! I am still trying to sort through the "drinking from the fire hose" aspect of couponing. It takes a lot of time!! But I do love it and am glad I found this site. It is really helping us--our grocery budget was out of control.
If you see someone wandering Landen Kroger after 8:30 p.m. (aka the construction zone) with a binder, it might be me--so say hi!

Hello! My name is Brenda aka isu_mom. I work outside the home, am married, and have a 7 yr old DD, 5 yr old DS and 1 yr old DS. I started seriously couponing a little over a year ago when I was on maternity leave. So, couponing started out of necessity but quickly became an addiction and a game to find the best deal for the best price! I couldn't have done it without HCW and our local website.

My daughter is going to University of Cincinnati in the fall, Pre Med. I used to hate Kroger and a die hard Meijer shopper untill I found the kroger forum.... my daughter needs the discount gas. lol Thanks to everyone one on the forum, you make shopping kroger so much easier.

he did 6 years out of Ft. Bragg, then when his IRR was up (like later the same month) he reenlisted into the reserves. his unit was in Ft. Thomas. they were deployed 5 months later (his second tour of Iraq), so he has that year as active. then this past october his AGR (active guard reserve) contract was picked up over by you. so he is gaining active duty years (goes to work everyday at the unit etc) but is with a reserve unit.
its allowing me to finally go to school. we have all the benefits of active duty just no base commissary (though I can, as you well know, go to any base in the us and use thiers. lol)
so in october he'll have 8 years in active duty. 12 more and he retires. he'd be 43. lol as long as he can stay AGR, he'll do it. though that means in a few years we might be moved to another unit...anywhere.

Hi :wavehi:
I am Bev from Hamilton. I have just recently returned to couponing and HCW after taking a looonnnggg break.
I am 46 and married. My DH is fully on board with my couponing and brags on me every chance he gets about the deals I can get with coupons. Most of the people I know wouldn't touch a coupon if their lives depended on it. I say....Oh well, that's your loss and what a loss it is for them because they have no idea how much they can save for their family.
I have a couple of families that I help with food regularly so my stockpile can get empty fast. DH is in PA working and I also send him lots of food to take back there with him. One of his work buddies asked him how I get all that food and was I on food stamps or something. He told him no she doesn't get food stamps but she really knows how to get a bargain or freebies. Needless to say his buddies are impressed and wished their wives did the same thing. :giggle2:

Hi. I am Karen Wilber and I live in New Hampshire. I am a wife, mother of twins, run a daycare out of my home, and I'm a full time college student. I just started couponing this week as a way to cut down on our grocery bills and try to balance the budget. My eleven year old daughter is excited to be helping me with this. We see it as a game or a challenge to see how low we can go. I am just getting started so this seems a bit overwhelming at times but we are determined to try.

I like the people here:) Hope you don't care. I am the mom of one 22 mts old dd who is onery but loveable and the wife to one very hardworking dh and a boxer dog named Tucker, who is 7. Couponing is definitely a favorite, time consuming hobby that I love!! I also love to scrapbook but it is more expensive than couponing :) I use to be a kindg teacher but resigned to stay home with dd. I miss it but love being with her all day. Anyway, I'm off to bed so that when my dd gets up early in the morning, I'll be able to stay awake.

Hi all, I'm Chris from Burlington (in northern Kentucky, for you non-locals. :)) I've always used coupons, on and off, but I've become very serious about it in the last few months, and now I have a HUGE binder. As my friend Jill says, "If she's got a binder, don't get behind her!" LOL
I'm lucky enough to have a job where, during downtime, I can cut coupons and browse the ads and websites. Otherwise, I'm not sure that I'd have time to keep up.
My husband has never cared about the money I spend or don't spend, but I make him listen to my deals anyway. :)
I have a 6 year old daughter who is the light of my life.

I am from Northern Brown cty,OH.My name is Christy, have been married to a very supportive and loving hubby Jim for 15 years! I am a SAHM to 4 kiddos, 14 y/o dd,4 y/o ds, 2 y/o ds, 1 y/o ds, and babysitter to 3 great boys!
I shop in Hillsboro,oh 17 miles away because they have all the stores I shop!, They have walgreens( great manager(E) SUPER helpful, cashiers are awesome(V)) cvs (The ladies there are AWESOME) walmart, kmart, and yes Kroger, and if it weren't for the other great stores I would never go to this Kroger(very coupon unfriendly ) I always say to my shopping buddy "we are going to Kroger now, get ready !the cashiers will have an eye-roll-a-thon when I hand over coupons!
I started couponing almost a year ago out of desperation, I had 3 in diapers and no where near enough income to diaper AND feed them! lol I started researching and found another site, which lead me to here!I have a super slow internet, so I never post, but I read this site all the time! It is so loaded with information, so I get some from here, but I read other blogs everyday, and with the 2 I really have learned alot and saved a ton!!
I love saving the extra money, and with the terrible economy , and everyday fearing my hubby may lose his job, I don't see me quitting couponing for a long time!
Thanks all you wonderful people who post on here and help so many of us out!!

Hey ladies/gents! I'm Kristy, an almost 37 yo SAHM of 2 (4 yo DS/2 yoDD). I always used q but went hardcore a little over a year 1/2 ago. DH was constantly lamenting over our almost $1200 monthly grocery bills :help22: so I followed another site and other posters over here! LOL! I'm now down to a little over $600/month and he's a happy camper and my official blinkie, cat and rebate finder! :BigHand: I could go lower but I like to shop too much! :giggle2:
We have 2 feline fatties (my avatar is one) and live in the Eastgate area of Cincy.

Hi, I'm lakies...which is the nickname for Lakeland Terriers, the dogs that we have. I live in the NE Cincy area, and have been a couponer for years...off and on. I have some photo albums in the garage somewhere that I need to resurrect--they are from the Kroger Super Double coupon era and probably have some coupons in them that have no exp. date! Last summer I started ordering coupons from Ebay for the things we used most frequently and I liked that strategy.
Then I was in Walgreens in December; they handed me a RR just for spending a certain amount of $$, and I started researching to find out how to get more. I thought drug stores were expensive! Who would ever shop there? (lol)
I was on another site and found HCW from there. I have not found any other site like HCW! And now I am hooked on CVS, and maximizing Kroger even more than I was. Walgreens --I go there every so often but feel like it is a test each time I go to the register. Did I get enough items to cover the coupons? What filler do I need? Did I remember to use the Wags ESR coupons? And my RR from the last time I was there? And be sure to use the gift card for OOP. And did all my RR's print out? Whew!
CVS makes it so much easier. When I was able to use the Electrasol $2.50 coupons when they had it on sale for $2.99 to get a year's worth of detergent I was hooked.
My overall stockpile is puny but I think I can improve it with all the good tips from HCW. Thanks, everyone, for all the great info!

Hi! I'm Jill and I've lived in Florence, KY for about a year now. I love being 5 minutes from all the stores I shop. I started couponing 2 years ago as a kind of contest with my sister-in-law to see who could save the most money and quickly became addicted. I LOVE getting stuff for free and watching my totals going down to next to nothing. I am 28 and have been married to the love of my life for 8 1/2 years and I am a SAHM with two DD's ages 6 & 3. I also love to scrapbook, though I don't get to as much as I'd like.

Hi all! I'm Jen and I shop at the Kroger in Dent. Occasionally, I also torture myself by venturing into the Meijer on Harrison, but I usually leave empty-handed from lack of stock or frustrated by the coupon police. I'm married and have 6 and 9 year old boys. I've been couponing since I was out of college, but have become much more dedicated in the last 6 or 8 months. I don't post a lot, usually by the time I spot a deal, someone else has already posted about it. But I really appreciate all of the time, effort and sharing of everyone on this site.

I am Brianne, 29, SAHM of 3 little girls. My husband is amazing, he loves that I save money, but also hates the constant shopping and stockpiling!!!
we live in Fairfield, I mainly hit the Krogers in Fairfield and Meijers hear lately( can not beat some of their deals). I started in August. I felt like I needed to either work or save and I saw information about extreme couponing on the tv and checked it out. I was doing very well and then after Christmas started planning my daughters school carnival and it was a huge task and I got a little behind with finding the deals. I am back on track and starting strong again. I still may find something to do from home, parties or customer service or something but I have really saved and mostly I am able just to get more than ever before. $100 before was maybe 3-4 bags of stuff, now $100 is 10+ bags!!
Our biggest expense is formula and diapers. We only have less than 2 months for formula so I will save alot more after that!!!

Mindy--with two very little ones at home my best advice is to take it slow--I just started in December and it can be just plain overwhelming! And mine aren't eating every 3 hours anymore! Well, not milk at least. =)
There is a lot to read, but I promise you if you just keep reading and absorbing, it will seem less like Greek and more like English before you know it. Although those of us with mommy brain may find it harder to keep everything straight. Not that I ever get confused. LOL!!

05-23-2009, 11:12:19 AM
Hello! 5baylors here from Batavia (Eastgate area) burb of Cincinnati. I am 40 years old and have a 11 yr. daughter (yikes! preteen), 9 and 6 yr. son. This is our third year homeshcooling and I have been a stay at home mom since the birth of our daughter.
I started cutting coupons in February after I was tired of paying ridiculous prices for HBA (espcecially razors and feminime hygeine products). I have been an Aldi's shopper, but couldn't get everything I need there, so I picked up a few items from Korger.
I use different websites to compile a list of sale items from Kroger. It truly helps do all of the what's on sale and how to use the most of my coupons.
My goal is to save at least 50% each week. I have a lot of the same items stockpiled to donate to your food pantry. I am going to teach a class at church on now to use q's and really save money.
I love to find a bargin. I once bought 100 pairs of shoes for $100 at Payless. Friends say I may have to join C.A. (Coupons Anonymous).
I have my children cut q's and I file them in baseball card holders. I am thinking about giving my children some $ that I save when shopping since they help. I ofter hear, "Mom, we have a coupon, can we get it?".
TIP: Don't forget to take your own bags to Kroger and save $.03 per bag.
God bless you this Memorial Day weekend.

My first month of stockpiling was very successful in the HBA dept. My husband was trying to be supportive, but was frustrated that I didn't have much food for his lunch. It's easy to get caught up in the deals and forget to buy lunch stuff. I also try to stock up on his favorite snacks.
Stockpiling tip: If you try it and don't like it, even if you open it, donate it to a homeless shelter. Our shelter in Clermont County is not picky.

Hello All, I have been on Hot Coupon World for awhile now, but we just moved to the Greater Cinci Area last week after living in TX! =) I am a SAHM of 5 children - 12 yr old daughter, 10 yr old son, 4 yr old daughter and 23 month old twin boys! My hubby and I have been married 14 1/2 years and he is an awesome man! I have always been a couponer, but now am a serious deal seeker, as my husband was laid off in January. The recession has really hit us pretty hard - going from a six figure income to living on unemployment. Unfortunately, past financial obligations depleted our savings prior to this unexpected turn of events, so there wasn't a huge nest egg in place, as there should have been. We have recently moved back to the area, to stay with family and seek employment. The only thing my brother asks is that we provide food and cook, and keep them well stocked up in essentials - toilet paper, paper towels, body wash, toothpaste etc - NO PROBLEM!!!! =) Looking forward to couponing with all of ya'll!

I grew up poor so I have been couponing since I was about 14. I am 29 now. I realized that if I wanted makeup and HBA I needed to get them with coupons and rebates.
So, my introduction to the deals seems to be a bit backward than most. I didn't realize there were sites that discussed deals and even showed ads ahead of time until about 2 years ago. I used to be one of the people waking up at dawn on Sunday morning to get my ads and match coupons to deals in my head on my own. Sometimes I couldn't even fall asleep the night before out of anticiapation of what may be on sale- especially when a new Walgreens rebate ad was due. Hearing the crazy voice on the radio advertising Kroger's SUPER DOUBLE COUPONS years ago was enough excitement to nearly drive myself off the road.
In a nutshell, I learned coupons/rebates out of necessity, and continue shopping that way because I choose to work in a field that does not necessarily pay well. This way of shopping allows me to have nice things and more than I would otherwise be able to afford. And, it is just plain fun!

Hi everyone. I have not been on in a while b/c we were so busy but used to be on here all the time (2007-2008). I am a married 14 years mother of 2: ds 6 and dd 10. I work as a teachers aide which allows me to be home when they are and to know what is going on at school. It gives me a SMALL income LOL but is better than having to pay childcare during the summer and not be with them. I had such a huge stockpile from before that I have not couponed much in 6 months or more and we still have a decent stockpile. I also loved giving my sister and brother garbage bags full of stuff to take home at christmas and gave all the teachers and aids/bus drivers etc.... gift bags full of hba/candles/etc... I wondered if it would be weird as they were dif. gifts but all the teachers loved them and those that did not get them were actually jealous and everyone was asking how I did that.
I live in Indiana, just out of Lawrenceburg. We love it here. THe stockpile was a real godsend when dh's work cut back hours and overtime and then began making them take an extra day off here and there. I am trying to get caught back up as far as my binder goes and with the ads that are posted so that I can get going. School sales are starting and that is a crazy savings time. I stock up for home and inlaws homes and goody bags for childrens gifts. You can never have enough 10c boxes of pencils, crayons and paper. :)
Nichol
PS. I shop CVS, Wags (some) and Kroger and Meijer. I had been doing Meijer and Kroger Super Doubles long before I discovered this sight. I found this site through the Dave Ramsey Forums. We are big envelope users now and the budget is way awesome, slowly paying stuff off and looking forward to the day when we can shout We ARE DEBT FREE. Just not yet. LOL

Hi, I'm Theresa from Burlington, KY. I found this forum through a forum that follows Dave Ramsey, as well. I was a hard core couponer for awhile but then stopped as we have finally added a new little one to our family. I have a seven year old and a ten month old. Now that things have settled down a little, I'm ready to go back to being a hard core couponer again.

Hi everyone! My name is Darcy & I'm Joe's Wife :) Originally I am from the Columbus area. I'm 35, pregnant with our first child (a girl due Oct 2), this month is 1 year that we've been married. We live in Maineville & I mostly shop at Meijer & Kroger. I started couponing in October 2008. I had lived overseas as a missionary for 7 years & after returning to the USA I met my hubby & we got married. I had to re-learn how to shop in the USA & I was shocked at how expensive things were. We both wanted for me to stay home as a housewife & eventually be a SAHM when the kids came along. I started looking for ways to cut costs. I saw a woman on the news, went to her coupon class & found this site. I have learned so much! I cannot imagine not using coupons! I know I can still do better but I spend around $200.00/ month on food, H&B, cleaning products etc. My husband loves that I coupon & brags about the deals I get. He also loves to bring me coupons that he finds or gets from his work- I love it too Hahhahaa!
Those of you who live in/near Maineville we should get together sometime!

I'm a bit new here. I'm 22, engaged and live with my fiance and our two cats.
We coupon because well, we have no money. My fiance is working full-time on his PhD and I have a job that barely pays above minimum wage. I personally have a lot of health restrictions (need lower sugared foods and low sodium) so I can't buy the super cheapest items or foods.
I did really well with couponing until recently when all my Kroger's in Cincinnati (Clifton area) stopped accepting printed coupons. I used to be able to keep our $150 food budget easily and now I spent $65 on just one weekly trip!

Hello Everyone! I'm Debby. I'm 48 years young but try to convince everyone I'm still 29! :hysterical: I live in the Colerain/Green Twp. area on the west side of Cincinnati. I'm married with three beautiful daughters. Our oldest is almost 21, married and active duty Air force. Our younger DD's are 10 and 7. My DH and I both are fortunate enough to work full time and have to thank our wonderful mothers for their support in helping with our children while we work.
We enjoy camping and have a vintage (1970) Airstream travel trailer that we are restoring (I'll save those adventures for another site/blog). My DH loves old tractors and we try to go to a couple antique tractor shows every year. And I had my first real garden last summer and hope to expand it this year!
We love animals and currently have three dogs (basset hound, blue tick coon hound and otterhound mix) and four cats in our home. I would love to get a couple goats and some chickens but I don't think our neighbors would go for that.
My adventures in couponing began a couple years back with the free Duracell battery deal at CVS. I read about the deal on a local website and was quickly hooked. We recently inherited an upright freezer so I'm actively trying to fill it, although the ice cream seems to mysteriously disappear almost instantly! Must be a black hole or time portal on that shelf since hubby and the DD's claim they know nothing of this! :whistle67:
I regularly shop at Kroger, Meijer, Biggs, CVS and Walgreens. I was loving the $5 Purina One coupon deal at Meijer but sadly, it expired 12/31/09.
I tend to lurk but one of my 2010 resolutions is to post more and share deals I find along the way.
Thank you everyone at HCW for all the wonderful deals!

Thank you everyone at HCW for all the wonderful deals!:wavehi:
i shop in that area all the time :)

Hi! My name is Jill and I live in Burlington KY. We've been in Northern KY for 2 years now and I've been couponing for about 3 years now. I'm a 29 year old stay at home to 2 DD's (7 & 4) and baby #3 on the way in June (we'll find out Monday what this one is). I've been married to my high school sweetheart for going on 10 years in November. I started into couponing because my sister-in-law saw a segment on tv about how much you could save, and she got me interested, then it became a competition to see who could save the most. Needless to say, I was quickly hooked. My husband loves that I have a hobby that actually saves us money (much the opposite of my scrapbooking).

Congratulations! Let us know what the baby is! I totally know what you mean about scrapbooking- my aunt is wonderful at it (she is SO crafty!) but it really adds up! :wavehi:

Hi, I'm Jaime. :wavehi: I have been couponing for about two years, and gaining in intensity since I left my job 7months ago to be a full-time momma. I have a wonderful DH (been married 4.5 years) who will sit and listen to all my "scores" even though I know it bores him to death, but he likes the $$ I have been able to save.
I have two kiddos, two boys, 3 and 8wks who are the reason I coupon- so I can stay home and watch them grow up.
I stay at Kroger's (Lebanon) usually, haven't really gotten into wags or cvs and the closest meijers is in middletown.
So if you see a lady with two kiddos with her head buried in a blue binder-- its ME!! :hysterical: I usually make 2-3 trips a week to check prices, let my son get outta the house (hey if you go at the right time, you don't have to eat lunch, gotta LOVE free samples), etc.

Hi I live in Hillsboro, Oh. I have always used some coupons but started using coupons intensely after seeing a news segment on a person from Northern Ky in August 2008. I have 1 ds who is 12 years old. He has been in treatment for a serious medical condition. He takes a lot of prescription and OTC meds, so I have to save money wherever possible. My dh likes it when I get razors for free or cheap, and realized that he didn't need to buy expensive cartridges.
It is an addicting hobby. I shop CVS, Wags, KMart (some-missing those double coupon days but I think they are just a memory now) and Kroger.

Live in Naples, FL now, but will be moving back to West Alexandria, OH in a week due to family in Ohio. Plus our little on does not know his family in Ohio, which is where most of our family is.
Will be shopping Krogers, Meijers, Walgreens and CVS. Will really miss Publix here in Naples.
I trade the FOREX (Foreign Exhange) market, build websites and software...so my work is online and can go anywhere. Started couponing, cause it's pretty boring trading...you just sit around and watch things....could take hours. Plus I built software to trade for me, so I had a ton of FREE time.
Last month I purchased over $1,800 worth of products for just over $411. Was very happy with that. Not sure of the deals I will get out of Krogers and Meijers.
Married with a 2 1/2 year old son. He loves to hunt down the blinkie machines, red tags and coupons with me in stores. Wife loves that I am stretching our dollar.

Hi all!
I'm Kara in St. Marys area (makes 4 of us right Elizabeth? :wavehi:). I've always used coupons, but for about the past year and a half have gotten much more into it. Probably because we have a 12 year old daughter who loves make up, I had to find a way to get it cheaper! Also have a just turned 15 year old son and a 3 year old son.
I think the main reason I started "super couponing" was when I became PTO president. I saw how much of the needs for school functions I could get with coupons. Now I'm hooked! Last year I was able to supply lots of candy, drinks, hot dogs and such to the school festival. Now my older two are out of elementary, so I'm working on helping at Church & our local food pantry. Having a blast shopping without spending much!
Thanks to all those who post great deals! I work about 20 hours a week, and as mentioned above, have 3 kids, so I'm not great at finding the deals, but appreciate all the help I get here!

Hi to all!
My name is Dee, I live in Bridgetown/Cleves area (west side Cincy), and shop mostly at Whitewater Kroger. I am fascinated by couponing and i don't know why? I have been amrried for 23 years and have a 17yo son. I love to catch a deal and share it with everyone i know! I don't stockpile much as I usually give it to my family, friends or to the local food bank. I do only have one son but try to be resourceful since I do not have a 'fulltime job' (right?) and mys in is in every sport and goes to a private hs. My husband laughs but is very supportive of my efforts......and tends to tell alot of people of my shenanigans! Would love to meet and trade ideas with locals or even trade coupons!

Hey I am also from Dayton, my sister inlaw got me started on coupons a long time ago. While she slowed down I kept working at it. I never really could get the excellant deals, I always got the good ones and saved about 40% off my bill ( or $60-$80) which was pretty good. Fall of 2010 I tried to start stocking up because I know every Jan.-Feb. my husband is laid off due to weather, still the deals were ok. Now that I have found HCW, i am much more in the loop of the coupon world.
I have a son laid off, with a 3yr old and his mother does not do a dang thing to help, one son just moved back home and a daughter outta work with a broken leg, soon to be returning to work. Now I devote alot more of my time to researching coupons and finding good deals to help them out.
The only complaint I have are the negative exterme couponers that put some of the newbies down, I am not new I have just learned ALOT, I do now have a binder, it keeps me so orginized I save more money. I love to see older retired women with there coupons that are coming back to couponing, here in dayton alot of benefits have been takin from the retired GM workers, my dad included, and I think if the TLC show got them started great for them. This site has been great, everyone helps everyone, not like someother sites where they put the newbies down.
I will continue to be a big fan and anytime I see anyone with coupons I always ask if they have checked out HCW, if not I highly recommed it to everyone.

Hi!!, My name is Tabitha I am 27 and live in Maineville. I am just starting to coupon. Which is why I am on here so I can learn some pointers. I just moved from Alaska to here about 2 months ago and I really like it here so far. I lost my job in Alaska about 4 months ago and still haven't found a job yet. Luckily I have wonderful Boyfriend who told me to move down here with him. Since I don't have a job I figure the least I could do is find a way for us to save the most money. We Shop at Kroger for as much as we can so we can get the Fuel points, I did my first shopping trip with coupons last week and I was really excited. With my card and coupons we saved almost $70, granted most was from the card but I was still really excited and it felt good to save $70!!! I am hoping to learn more about how to coupon and walk out with even better savings.

Welcome to everyone!
I keep seeing this thread pop up, and it made me wonder if I had ever posted to it. Well...I did...2 years ago!! And I never did say where I shop!! LOL!!!
I live in the Beavercreek area, but I shop at a variety of Kroger stores. The Spinning Rd (world's smallest Kroger) is my "get in and get out" store. I live very close to the new Marketplace store on Dayton-Xenia Rd, but it's just so big! I'm worn out after I shop there!! But, when my hubby and I have an evening alone, we love to go up there and get some fresh baked bread and some good cheese to snack on! It's our guilty pleasure!
I'm all about saving gas...so if I'm my shopping trip includes Dot's Market and Aldi's, I head for the Kroger store at Woodman Dr. and Dorothy Ln. in Kettering so I can hit all three stores without backtracking. AND...if my shopping list includes Cub Foods, I make the Wilmington Pike store my stop for that trip. In other words, you can find me anywhere!!! I'm the one with the notebook and the plastic, flip-top box of coupons...with a basketball deal on it...in the seat of the cart!!

There was only a SS this week--- here's the insert board Insert Coupons - HotCouponWorld (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/insert-coupons/) they post previews as soon as they get them. I have issues with the dayton paper carrying the RP, but the cincy paper usually has all the scheduled inserts. HTH!
