I'm so hacked off at people who take peelies off of items they are not buying! The peelies had all been taken off the cookies and the crackers and the store would not let me have them for the coupon price without the coupon, even though the tape that holds the peelie was still stuck to the package. I'll live without cookies and crackers, but it really bothers me that people are so rude and selfish.

I am really tired of the Albertsons ads they keep having advertising "with in-store coupon" and my store never has any coupons!!
Of course they had tons of Sobe with .40 peelies because it's impossible to get them off....

That just hacks me off to no end. I will take blinkies but peelies to me are off limits. That is just plain out selfish and rude!

how do you know it was other shoppers? Many people have had store employees take off peelies, as well as take down blinkie machines that coordinated with sales if they weren't advertised by the store.
Our Shaws regularly took down the Kraft blinkie machine when Kraft cheese was on sale but it was there the week before and week after.
Don't be so quick to judge.

I admit to taking peelies but would never take them off a product that the store was advertising the sale price after coupon thats on package..
i went to my albertsons to get some stuff and noticed alot of the peelies had been taken off....
last time they did this advertising the store took off the peelies and scanned them for you at the register..not sure why they didnt this time.
im hoping there are still some left tomorrow when i go shopping!

but seriously..that is life. there are others things more serious we should get upset about. (high taxes, high insurance premium, education, etc.)
Stores/Manufacturers should get more upset about extreme couponers.
* buying 100 newspapers just to get 100 coupons
* buying products that couponers get money back (that is just taking advantage of the store..... and what's even worse, boasting about it)
* finding wrong prices and buying 1,000 of the products
* etc. etc. etc.
Don't get me wrong..I'm accused of doing some of it above..but just do it moderately.
couponers...relax... there will be more deals and peelies..
high core couponers are ruining the "spirit of couponing"

I don't know why, but the tone of your post struck me a bit.
First off, manufacturers could care less about 'extreme' couponers. The reality is, couponers cannot redeem more coupons than the manufacturer issues. And please don't mention fradulent use, those people are thieves not couponers. Only a very small (depends on where you get your number, I found 1.26%) percentage of coupons are redeemed each year. I hardly think we should be worried about the manufacturers! They shouldn't issue more coupons than they feel comfortable reimbursing.
Secondly, stores shouldn't be concerned about overage-producing coupons. They will still be receiving the full coupon value from the manufacturer, and we are buying the intended product. Do you think big box stores are more entitled to the overage than the couponers? I mean, who put their time and effort into figuring out the scenarios? Just wondering, we are each entitled to our own opinions. :wink7:
Finally, I *highly* doubt someone is taking advantage of wrong prices to the tune of thousands of free products. I'm certain that would throw up a red flag at the store.
To the OP, I'm sorry that happened. Hopefully they will figure out a better system for their in-store promotions!

My store didn't have any coupons for the advertised items either. All of the store flyers with the coupons were replaced with the monthly sales book. The peelies on the crackers said they could only be removed by the cashier or they were void. The cashier took mine off but forgot to scan them and I didn't notice til I got home.

When I was shopping yesterday I saw the cashier in the line next to me scanning the same peelie over and over, and she just put it next to her register when she was done, instead of the coupon drawer.

Isn't that false advertising if the product is advertised at a certain price with the in store coupon and there are no coupons ?

As a newbie, I've yet to find a single peelie. Whether its other shoppers or the store removing them, it's a little annoying cuz I spend the time to look through the packages. But I guess that's my problem, and can't let it bother me too much. I would never do it but it's jmho. I don't see the difference between the peelie or a coupon inside the package -- and I wouldn't obviously open up a box to get at the Q that I knew was likely inside if not buying the product.

This happened to me at my local HEB yesterday, I was getting nutrigrain bars for my ds, and ALL the peelies were gone from the boxes. I was there last week, and there were peelies on every box.
I had to dig through the shelf to find just ONE.
:rolleyes24:
I agree, unless you are purchasing the item, the peelie is off limits.
Why would you take it if you were not purchasing the item? To trade on here? how cheap is that?

There are strong feelings about this. I empathize with a young mother who is so busy, taking the time to research deals only to have them gone.
We have all decreased our financial expectations. Some of us only want a little teeny corner of couponing.
I can agree with her frustration as she is starting out in a great mood & then gets to see the downside of couponing.
I applaud her for venting & getting support from the kind traders at HCW.
I don't see her being judgemental at all!
She just hadn't thought of the alternatives yet to who it could be.
