I always freeze the shredded cheeses - they defrost fine in the fridge. I've even thrown the shredded cheeses in recipes frozen LOL

If you freeze shredded cheese and thaw it on the counter or in the fridge you would never know it was frozen, unless of course you leave it in the freezer for too long (freezer burn). If you freeze a block of cheese it tastes fine but it breaks down easily, so slicing it or cutting it up becomes difficult. I also like to freeze slices of cheese. Sometimes I get cheese from the deli and we don't use it all. I will wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in a freezer bag for use at a later time. Works great!

This is so true, but the upside to this is that you can avoid buying bags of Kraft cheese "crumbles". I do this all the time!! :wink7:

I froze the Kraft singles for my DH once, and when I thawed it out for him he said they were horrible and that the consistency and taste changed alot...had to throw them out cause he refused to eat them! Probably due to the fact that they were not 'real cheese' like block or shredded is. Course...it may have been my freezer and yours may be fine??

are the 2% natural slices individually wrapped?

Yes, they make individually wrapped 2% slices (for hamburgers, etc), but by the wording of the catalina, I'm not sure that they would count for the OYNO. And I have been freezing shredded and block cheese for years (my father got 60lbs of cheese for my graduation party a few years ago, needless to say it lasted for awhile) and haven't noticed any change in taste, especially with the shredded.

hmm maybe I will try it twice with the sliced and see what happens. I only have 6 coupons so I planned to do 4 & 2. If it doesn't work on the 2 sliced no biggie its still only 1.00 each.

I should have clarified. I have never frozen slices like Kraft singles for example, only cheese slices I have gotten from the deli that are left over.

Has anyone purchased the cheese today and gotten the Catalina? If so, which kinds did you purchase? I purchased 4 shreds and did not get the cat. And since it is unadvertised I could not prove my point. After chatting with another member, well complaining really I come to realize it may be that not all 4 were 2%. Kraft has changed the packaging and I can not find where 2% is noted. So before I buy more cheese I am trying to figure out what I did wrong.

I did two orders today all eight packages of cheese said 2% on them and I received two cats.

I bought 2% sharp cheddar shredded, 2% shredded mozzerella and 2% colby chunk.

I also received a cat advertising the deal and it stated they must be 2% cheeses.

I bought the individ. wrapped 2% cheese and it did NOT work. Hopefully my fiance doesn't read the label. Maybe I will take all the cheese out of the package HAHA

Does anyone have the contact info for the Cat company? I did 2 orders of 4-2% shredded today and did not get the cat. GE CS had no idea what I was talking about since it is not advertised.

When I was in the store I forgot that it was 2% cheese only, and messed up. I got 4 2% shredded, 1 2% cubes, and 1 regular cubes. I got a $3 cat.

I didn't even bother with the singles, but they do freeze great. We put them frozen on our sandwiches in our lunches and they thaw out by lunchtime while keeping our lunchmeat cold.

If you bought all 6 cheeses in one transaction, you didn't screw it up. You only get a $3 cat for 4 or more. I've been buying 4 at a time to maximize the deal and have less oop.

I'm using 2 $1/2 q's and the $3 cat and pay $3 oop for 4 pkgs.
