-I went ahead and am making this a sticky as a reminder to always check your receipts. It is a good policy to know.
Does anyone know if they have an offical Scan Right Policy?
Yesterday I purchased 2 3# bags of onions and was charged $2.99/2. I went in to get my $.30 back and after the CS checked the display she came back and said she would give me one for free and the $.15 for the other.
i just wonder if this policy or if the lady thought I needed it since I was quibbling over $.30 (which I have no problem doing). I know it is at Harris Teeter, but at Food Lion it is not (not surprised!)...

If an item rings up wrong you get it free. If you have more than one, then the first one is free and the rest is rang up at the correct price.

Today I learned what their Fresh Produce Policy is...
Double your money back if it is bad!!!
I have been buying the peaches on sale all month and I got 4 that were out of date in OCTOBER...I got double my RETAIL price back! I couldn't believe it!

My Bi-LO in Goose Creek, SC has NEVER given me anything for free if it scanned wrong. They adjust the price to the correct price and give me the difference. The CS office in this store is horrible! The entire area is not arranged well, and the Customer Service people sit behind a wall and don't even know that you're there! There is no bell to ring or no way of them seeing any customer. On a good note, the cashiers here have been GREAT! If I've mentioned that I need a raincheck for an out-of-stock item, they have walked with me to the CS counter and written one out for me.

CS isn't the greatest at mine either. I typically have to stand at the counter and wait for someone to see me.
I have mystery shopped them before and I have to say, compared to 2 other stores that I have Mystery shopped, they don't have the customer service speed requirments that these other 2 do-plus they aren't mystery shopped nearly as much either, so they don't have to be "on thier toes" worrying if they will be shopped.

Stupid question ... does this only apply to produce and produce department items?
I bought 4 of the dole fruit cups , not in the produce dept, but in the reg grocery part that expired in oct 2008. I was able to return them for what I paid but no more.

I think it is just fresh food (produce)...The preson that waited on me was some sort of manager, though I don't think she was the store manager. That was the first I had ever seen her.

Hmmmm. I bought a few paper plates that rang up $3.31 instead of $2.50 yesterday. Stood @ CS desk for over 10 mins (some lady doing a Western Union order in front of me. Is it too hard to help someone else while this process is going on? UGH!) All I got was the difference.

Kinda hard to complain about that too huh...
I notice that whole Western Union thing at both BiLo and Food Lion (but rarely at HT). It is very annoying to have to stand and wait.
My favorite is when I am at customer service and they are waiting on me and the PHONE RINGS. They leave me (the customer that actually CAME IN to speak with them for whatever reason) and then give the phone person 100% of their attention and don't even ask them to hold! That is so rude.
OH sorry OT....

I actually have seen a sign posted in my store stating this policy. I have seen it at CS but also above uscan.

They do give you double refunds for meat. But just a regular refund on other things.. there is nothing about if it rings up wrong its free..

Hmmm, I noticed on my receipt yesterday, I bought a wheel of Brie from the deli refriderated case. The wheel had a price sticker on it for $5.25 and a sell by date. The store had placed an additional $3 off sticker because the sell by date was only 3 days away and they had dozens of these wheels. But when looking at my receipt, the item scanned form the barcode on the package for $5.99.
I wonder how my store would handle this? I just assumed the price sticker on the front was on the wrong product. Maybe I should take it in and ask.
I sorta doubt I would get it free. I had the store price match a Ham back at Easter time. They asst manager did the price match wrong, and it gave me too big of a discount. I didn't realize while in line, but i noticed while reviewing the receipt at home. It was almost $25 in my favor. I just couldn't let it go in good consience, so I stopped back by the stor in the morning on the way to work. I pointed out the mistake to the CS rep and they asked who had done the price match. Then I was charged for the mistaken discount, and I paid the amount I should have paid after price matching. They thanked me several times, and wondered aloud how many times that fella might have made the same mistake.
Anyway, I felt better eating the Ham knowing the correct price had been paid for it (which was still a great deal). I would have been surprised if they had refunded me what little I paid for their mistake.
I have caught pricing errors on meat, and they correct it, but don't give the item for free.
and i have learned to chekc hte dates on everything when I'm shopping....especially yogurt and bottled items like salad dressing and mayo. If I end up with anything out of date at home, I call the manufacturer and report that the store is allowing aged stock to remain on the shelf. You usually get a couple of coupons in the mail for calling, and you can still return the tiem to the store if you want. Kraft told me once that the item is still usable after the date, they just don't guarantee quality and freshness after that date.
anyway, I'll see what they say about the brie tomorrow.

Is there any thing official on the web site regarding this that could be posted as an update?

Nope, I was told that is the policy by the store manager, but others post that they don't get the stuff for free when it happens.

I just noticed my potatoes rang up $6.99 when they were advertised for $3.99. I was planning on just taking my reciept and the ad in when I go Thursday but when I opened them a bit ago, I noticed the bag said 8 lbs instead of 10lbs like advertised. When I called they said they could only give me $3 back. Um I'd like my extra 2lbs of russet potatoes too! We'll see how it goes.

what happens if the coupon won't scan, besides chaos?
SOME employees are inclined to refuse them.

That's a totally different subject. Scan right policies only pertain to the object you buy. Say for instance, the potatoes I bought were on sale for $3.99 (reg $6.99) and instead of ringing up $3.99, they rang up full price or a price higher than advertised.

Check the NEW BiLo website, notice this (http://www.bi-lo.com/ways-to-save/double-coupons/) page in particular.
