I think that the official rule is that 3 of the same coupon can be doubled, the rest will be redeemed at face value. I have had it go both ways at my stores. I noticed that if you put say 10 Frank's red sauce coupons together in your coupon stack, the cashier is more likely to only double the first three, but if you have the coupons spread out in the stack (say 2 Frank's coupons, then 1 Kraft, then 2 Nature Valley, then 3 Frank's) they will usually double them all. You can always split them into separate transactions to get them all to double.

Mine doubles everything I have. I think it is because it is a new store. I had another store argue with me over it, but I pointed out that their ads said they doubled coupons and there were no signs in the store limiting how many they double. The doubled all of mine there too.

I never knew that until a few months back I went to a not my normal store and the cashier mentioned something about it but went ahead and doubled them anyway. I've never known them to not double all mine at my regular store ( i've gotten 10 cottonelle at once) until the Mega event and one of the managers was checking me out and she mentioned that they don't but she said I'm putting them thru anyway.

If you spread them out not sure how that makes a difference as they beep I think, thats what I noticed anyway because I was at self check out and I was standing next to her and saw her, it would beep then she pushed a few buttons. :shrug7:

I rarely split my transactions, but if they mention they only double 3 I start the whole, "Then just void this and this and this... I'll do a separate transaction OR you could save yourself the hassle and double then all in one order." Usually works fine for me. The registers are programmed to double all coupons under $1. If they really cared, they would reprogram them, IMO.

Most of the time, it'll double all coupons at the local fry's that I go to. But there's one cashier who is a crab who gave me a lecture one time. of course, there's nothing posted anywhere in the store about them doubling only the first 3. I just don't go into his check-out line!

I have no problems USUALLY - as a PP said, the computer will double them all. Once I had a cashier from another store fresk out - the Asst Mgr came over and said if they go thru without beeping, take them all. They did, she kinda grumbled but too bad.

I will also push the issue - it's amazing how many cashiers I've run into that think Qs mean you are somehow stealing or cheating the system. Of course, then there are the cashiers that say "Wow, that's awesome" - of the guy that when I got the total to equal -0- during the mega-event called me a Coupon Ninja

i got spanked the other day at my frys 40th and chandler blvd...she said only 3 like coupons period...she won't take the 4th even at face value. Oh well. Still did good on my savings! Now I'll just do 3 per transaction.

I also ran into this with the mega deal so I have been doing groups of 10.

i am a frys cashier and we just got a "read & sign" down from corp last week. (read & signs, mean u read it.....sign it........and that way u dont have any excuse as to why u went against policy). they are now making us do the limit of doubling 3 likes in one transaction. at the end of the r&s.....it said failure to follow procedure will bring disaplanery (sp?) up to suspension and termination.

Yikes! Thanks for letting us know. This is the official Kroger policy - a cashier showed it to me once, but Fry's has never enforced it across the board. Good to know that they probably will at a higher rate now. May cause me to go back to Basha's - they are really slow with Qs b/c they have to read every single bit of small print but at least they do not limit how many will double.

the cashiers at my store are great and most opologized to me about the new enforcement. I told them all it is okay. I will just get more creative. I definately wouldn't want one of the cashiers to get fired and I have been told it is a fireable offence.

yah it is truely a pain, esp when u are doing a mega deal, then u have an item out of stock, and then u have to regroup. and its really hard for me to tell my customers the new policy and that it is truely being forced. so just break up your orders, and have a stand by plan during mega deals.

i totally believe if corp wants this policy followed.......then they should get the registers set so it wont double over 3 likes, because there are people who are going to try to work their way around it, and it is going to make us cashiers the "watch dogs", which is going to slow down the lines.

I have never heard of this policy until recently when I went to a different Fry's- the cashier was extremely rude. My normal Fry's has never said anything about this. Is this an official policy and if so, where can we get a copy of it?

I'm fine with doing multiple transactions- but it sure seems like a lot of extra work for the cashiers.

yes this is the offical one, plus some other rules they have tagged onto it. i have the employee copy, but u would prolly have to ask a csm for a customer copy.

Here is Fry's official coupon policy. They will only double the first 3 per transaction, but if the coupon is for $1.00 or more and doesn't need to be doubled, you can use as many as you want. If I have more than 3 of an item that has to be used, I always just do two seperate transactions, and if it is for a lot of things, I do it at self check out so that way the cashier isn't as tense with me. Also, I always carry around a copy of their coupon policy with me in my coupon binder. You have no idea how many times I have had to pull it out to "prove" a cashier wrong.....anyhow...Props to the great cashiers out there that are patient and nice to us coupon shoppers!

Anyhow, here it is:

I have worked at fry's as a cashier for 13 years now. The coupon policy is they will only take 3 coupons, but it depends on the cashier, some will take more, it is more of a pain not to. The coupons all double automatically, the only way they do not double is if the cashier puts them in manually. It will take all coupons unless they are expired or you did not get, or got the wrong item. If you get a cashier that will not take them, then chances are they are pretty new.

Holy Moley! I have never had a Frys cashier ever tell me I can't use Qs at the Tucson Frys on Speedway and Pantano. Usually they say something about what a great job I did with my Qs. On the other hand the Frys at 22nd and Harrison always give me grief (plus they never have anything in stock).

The Fry's stores that I go to (at 35th Ave & Thunderbird and 43rd Ave & Cactus in Phoenix) BOTH double more than 3 coupons if I have them. This week's ad has Fiber One bars and Nature Valley bars for $1.57 if you buy 4. I used 8 - 40cent off coupons for the Fiber One bars and the cashier took them all witout blinking an eye.

I guess it all depends on where you go and what cashier you go through.

I've always gone by the three rule wrt doubling. I've been doing the mega deal in groups of ten as well. I've used over 3 $1.00 coupons several times this past week and haven't had any problems.

Most of my Fry's shopping is done at one store in South Scottsdale and I had 5 coupons the other day and the cashier doubled all 5 so it doesn't look like they're all enforcing the rule.

I'm really loving this 'every coupon is worth $1.00' thing they're doing right now and it's going to suck when it goes bye-bye. I'm clipping coupons I wouldn't ordinarily because they're worth more right now. :BigHand:

I'm wondering, being they are advertising ALL coupons are worth a $1. maybe thats why we are able to use more than 3 alike and they double-triple etc :shrug7:

You know what? That thought occurred to me, too. Their store policy is only 3 like coupons will be doubled but since every coupon is worth $1.00 right now, they've temporarily changed that.

I also noticed that Safeway is making all coupons worth $1.00 now, too. hehehe. Gotta keep up with the Joneses, I guess. I don't even look at the Safeway ads nowadays because I find everything I want at Fry's and Albies, but since Fry's is taking competitor's coupons right now, I'm checking the other flyers for good ones. My roommate tossed out our home mailer last week before I found out about the Sarah Lee pie coupon. grrrr.

The OP asked if other Fry's accepted more than 3 of the same coupons, not necessarily doubling them. I'm new at couponing. A cashier at my Frys in Prescott told me she could only accept ONE of the same internet coupons because you can only print one of the same on the internet (NOT true!). She said if she did, she would "get a memo." Not wanting to be embarrassed at the checkstand, I've only been using one at a time. For lack of a better term, it sucks.

I have encountered this issue at my Fry's, but I spoke to the manager about it and they decided to take 2 at a time. It still sucks, but oh well. I do not have time to go over and over in the same week, so they lose my business by limiting me. I do think certain cashiers make it up as they go along so "shop" for a good cashier!

Mine depends on the cashier. If I shuffle them up, then they will. If I don't, then they won't. My Safeway will double everything, no matter how many ~ thus I have been shopping there much more. And, most of my eCoupons never come off at Fry's, even the ones I load from the Fry's website (which to me is aggravating). At SW, they ALL come off, and multiple times.

I understand that Fry's had to have their folks sign memos, but....and understandably they want to limit. But the amount that is doubled is still a tax write off for them for "providing a discount to the consumer". So, IMO, it's in their best interest to take the coupon. I would never go more than 4 of the same coupon...but I know that some folks will abuse it.

Ultimately it depends on the cashier. Last time I was there at my Fry's, the manager checked me out, and he doubled 4 of my coupons for one thing...so I dont believe it's as "hard" of a policy as some make it to be. If it was, he would not have done that. I truly believe that it depends on the cashier/store you visit, whether or not they double more than 3 like coupons.

3 questions :

" What is a " mega event? " .. when is it ?

" in one of the comments i've read that fry's is taking competitor's coupons- is that true ? Bc i did ask few weeks ago and was told - no- so .. i'm just wondering ?

How long does the " all coupons worth 1 $ usually last " .. is that more like an anual thing or .. ? does it happen once in a while- and when it happens how long does it last ? I'm n ew with coupons and started when they started the " all coupons worth 1 $ " .. really don't know how i will adjust to the fact that a 0.25 c co upon , really is , just a 0.25 c coupon .. :(..

TIA

A mega event is when they have big sales. Usually (maybe always) it a sale that you have to buy so many items to get the sale price. Like you have to buy 10 items and you will get $5.00 off. (Not all of the same items, any 10 items that are on sale) They usually have these around Holidays but have them other times of the year also. I'm surprised Memorial Day weekend was not a Mega Event.

Currently (unless I am not aware) they are not taking competitor coupons. They do this occasionally - again, usually around holidays. It would state in the ad if they were taking competitor coupons.

The 'all coupons are worth $1' has been going on for several weeks. This is a new promotion. There is no way to know when it ends. Someday it will just be over and we will all be sad! :(

They normally double coupons up to $1. Occasionally they will triple and quadruple coupons. (Again tripling/quad is usually around Holiday) So your .25 coupon will always be worth .50! :)

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks!
