I've really been looking forward to trying the place since I first saw them breaking ground, and the time is finally here. They just opened the doors on the 19th and we're planning to go check it out today.
I was wondering if anyone knows what their store brand of canned veggies/tomatoes are like.

Julie- I am in Tampa as well. Do you go to one in Clearwater or is there one closer to you? I moved here two years ago from OH and we had them for a long time there. I never cared for them in OH and only went in occassionally so I haven't tried shopping there now. I always felt I could do better with coupons and shopping the sales at the regular stores. I did go to Save a Lot a few months back before the Aldi's opened up and thought it reminded me a lot of Aldi's.

I'm jealous too!!! I stopped in Aldis yesterday while I was out of town at a funeral, and after paying $3.89 for a 5# bag of sugar at our walmart, was thrilled to find it at Aldis for$1.99!!! I am now the proud owner of 25# of sugar at almost half of what I have to pay at home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I live in Plant City and they just opened one about 5 minutes from my house. I really didn't know whether to be excited or not, as I'd never heard of them, but I've gotta say, I'm impressed with what I've tried so far. The spaghetti sauce (the cheaper of the 2 kinds they carry) was pretty darn good...of course I always doctor it up by adding my own onions, green peppers and garlic, but it was just as good as the much pricier brand I usually buy.
Also, their vegetable soup tastes exactly like the campbells alphabet soup that my kids love.
I'll try and report back as we try the other stuff we got

We shop at aldi alot. The only things I have found that I don't like is their French Onion Dip & Cottage Cheese. I always buy my diced tomatoes there b/c they are only $.45 a can (1/2 price compared to most places).
What I do it I get what I can cheap with coupons at other stores and use Aldi as my filler for the things I need.
