I would love to get a real valentine's gift this year because my husband doesn't "believe" in valentine's day. First of all, he hates all holidays period. And he calls valentines day a "hallmark" holiday which to him means one that is just designed to get people to spend money on cards, candy, flowers etc and in his mind is unimportant. So, for the last 10 years (5 dating, 5 married) he has never gotten me anything more than a card and twice we went out to eat (in 10 years!). I guess that's better than sweetest day though because he refuses to even acknowledge it's existence so I get NOTHING that day, not even a card or a "happy sweetest day", meanwhile at work co-workers have cards displayed and flowers delivered. Sigh. Makes me feel like crap every year. Anyway, sorry for the sob story but it is what it is.

Anyway, I have a couple things I would like.

First is a pair of running shoes. I've always had good luck with Asics so these would be great. Size 6.

As far as a funny story, Christmas was great, but my DH lacked something in the planning department...

I bought him an expensive gift that he had been wanting for sometime. I played dumb and was able to COMPLETELY surprise him. He had tears in his eyes, he was so surprised.

So, he gave me:

1) LOST Season 4... WooHoo! But what is funny is that DH had his mom pick up the gift for him... when she had our kids with her. Normally not a big deal, but my 6 yo DS (who was just shy of turning 7) came home and said "We got you a Christmas gift, Mom. You'll never guess which LOST we bought you." Considering I have all other 3 seasons of LOST, my son was sadly mistaken. I guessed right away. :) But I played it off.

2) Concert tickets to one of my favorite bands, Third Day, but again, the planning is not his strong suit. After I gave him his amazing surprising gift, he told me he didn't have the tickets yet, but he was going to take me to this concert. Guess who ended up on the phone with TicketMaster 3 days before the January 9th concert buying the tickets? You guessed it, ME!

Now, I do have to say, he gave me great gifts and I am at home with our kids, so I do have more time to sit on the phone ordering things. I thought it was funny how his "surprises" (he's bought me a season of LOST every year for the last 3 years) and "planning" didn't quite work out for him. :)

We talked about not doing anything for Valentine's Day this year... Well, it was mostly him saying that. I think I'm going to plan a night away for us at the end of the month as a late Valentine's Day gift to us both, but I don't think he wants to have the pressure of trying to get me something. So, I figured, why not enter this contest and try to win something for myself that I want & NEED. :)

WOW! I never knew one could, do so much window-shopping online. I do not shop outside the home much due to panic attacks with agoraphobia, will not be shopping online much due to economy.

Like the rest of you, here I always scrimped and saved to be sure, my kids had what they needed and to be honest some of what they wanted. God blessed me with three special children who had special needs…
My oldest son 23 is schizoaffective; my middle son now 20 battled cancer at age 12 and is doing great now. My daughter was hospitalized at age 13 for anorexia.

My husband and I will be married 25 years on Valentines Day. :smile:With the current economy, we will not be having any special event. That however is not important he is my soul mate I was lucky and found true love the first time around.:BigHand:

I suffer from migraines and the doctor and I have discussed possibly injecting some kind of medication into the base of my neck, he suggested I try a very good pillow and massager for tension release and reduce stress levels first. The area that hurts the most is just above the hairline at the back a bit above the where our neck and head meet.

Well I priced pillows and there was no way I could justify spending that kind of money on one. I have never bought a two pack that cost more than six bucks. My middle son and my daughter are both laid off and staying with us and he wants me to buy what?

I saw some great pillows online; I could not even get myself to try to win one of those, 50 bucks for a pillow?
I did find what seem like would be a good pillow and a good massager. I will place both here if I can figure out how to do so. Should I be one of the five either one would be nice.

We just got back from vacation and had to put some of our clothes and items in plastics bags. How embarrassing! At least we were driving and not flying! It was funny when the bags kept falling off the luggage cart in the hotel. :hysterical:

The worst gift I ever received was from DH. I believe it was our second Valentine's Day together and he got me a facial hair groomer. :shrug7:You read that right! You know the little ones I'm talking about- the mini trimmer for nose hairs, shaping eyebrows, and getting rid of the fine little hairs above your lip? Yup- for Valentine's Day! He remembered me looking at one when we were at Walgreen's and I said that I'd like to have one (for the eyebrow grooming, obviously! :giggle2:) and so he bought it for me. In his defense, he also got me a very lovely watch that year that I still get compliments on.
