Can anyone in the Charlotte area confirm this for me, and which stores?
I talked to my local Bi-Lo manager about triples, and she said that the Charlotte market was doing a "test", to determine if Bi-Lo would start doing triples ALL THE TIME - she did say also that if they decided to do this, they would drop from doubling up to 99¢ to tripling up to 50¢ or 60¢. I'm in the Western part of NC, so they are not doing that here. Can someone please verify this for me?
Obviously, it would be wonderful if a chain started tripling all the time....:BigHand:

I can't verify it but that would be AWESOME!!!
Probably not gonna happen though. It sounds too good to be true!

They DID A test last late spring, it was Triples for a full week in the Charlotte market....hhhuummm, I am not sure if that would be good or not. I would think it is hard to compete with 2 other stores that do doubles to $.99....But then again, I was in a BiLo yesterday that is LITERALLY across the street from Food Lion and the Food Lion was just as busy as the BiLo, but then I have to remember that the majority of people are not couponers like the majority of us here are.
Opposite of that, I was in a BiLo that was literally across the street from HT during triples and Bilo was like a ghost town. The HT was rockin!

It looks like HT and Lowes are going to continue to triple every few weeks, either one or the other. And Bloom's once a month.
Bi-Lo main offices are near Greenville SC and the stores down there only get to double up to 50 or 60 cents, whereas around here up to .99.
.99 is very close to being .75 since I can not think of many coupons .76 - .99, so tripling .50-.60 would be ok to supplement the other stores that triple up to .99. I'd rather see Bi-Lo triple up to .99 once every couple months since we get alot of .75 coupons.
Between all the stores that are tripling, if Bi-Lo joined in every few weeks I'd get enough use from all my coupons. I guess we all have a limit of how many coupons we get, how much our freezers will hold, etc.
I suggested to a Lowes clerk that they should triple all the time and I think after a week or two, the hoopla would die down, and traffic flow in the store would get back to normal. We would not need to run to Lowes, this weekend Jan. 16-18 to use our coupons before they expire Jan 31st, etc. We could go any day and any time and the triples would be there.
Darn it, I wish Food Lion would double .50. They have some pretty good deals.

My bilo doubles up to .60 and NEVER triples. I did ask the manager about this at my store in WNC and he said that he had heard something about a trial triples but wasnt sure about details.

Mine (in Lake Wylie, SC) has always doubled up to .99 but yesterday I used a coupon for .80 and it was entered as .80 and .20 so apparently the rule has changed. I emailed corporate to inquire but no response yet. I will be taking my business to Harris Teeter if Bi-Lo is going to only double up to $1.

they do not give overage. Your item must have been for sale for $1.00........well, no, if it was a $1 item the coupon should have been .99 and then .01 since the coupon doubled can not exceed the price of the item.

I shop in Lake Wylie too. Mine have always doubled up to .99! Was the item only $1.00? That has me curious. I hope they arent starting that. That is one store I usually dont have any trouble at.

from all the previous talk on the tips of the trade forum on another site, that has always been Bi-Lo policy.
ex: you have a coupon for .75/1 item A. This is doubled up to the value of the coupon.
So, you buy two items, milk at $3.79 and item A for $1.25.
You get the item A for free (.75 + only .50 for the double part of the .75) since you can not get money back and they do not give overage from what I know. If they gave overage you'd get an extra .25 off your milk.
If you did not buy the milk, and only item A, you would not get .25 in change, you'd get the item free meaning .75 was applied to the $1.25 item and then on the double of the .75 you get .50 more making item A free. And you might pay .07 or something in tax.

I had a problem with my coupon not doubling to the full amount of the item (Item was $1 I had $.50 coupons that only doubled for $.39). I went back to CS the next day and showed the manager. She said that it should not have happened and gave me my $1.10 that was due. I had bought a total of 10 items where the coupons only doubled to $.89 total for each one. She was really nice about it too.

ok, so you got it straightened out. And I assume you know if you had an 11th coupon it would not have doubled.
However, at Harris Teeter the like coupon limit for doubling is not 10, it is 20, but it can't be more than 3 like items.
Lowes Foods only 4, Target 1 unless your clerk is ignorant of the policy and lets you slide, Food Lion 0, Walmart is 20 or more, since I once got 20 bottles of Danian and had 20 coupons, the clerk was furious that all were free, but she had no choice. I gave a bottle to the 3 kids in line behind me, this really made the clerk mad.

I think at HT, like coupons are a limit of 3 like items. 20 coupons doubled in total per day.

I have used more than 3 at HT many, many dozens of times. I have used 10 many times. I had 11 recently, 11 of the same coupon. I had 11 items. I told the clerk I needed to pull one back since the like limit was 10. She told "no" like limit just 20 per visit. The time I used 11 all doubled because they were different items. But at Bi-Lo I have presented more than 10 and only 10 doubled.

Their official policy is three like, but it is cashier, not register enforced.

I used the .80 off three Hamburger Helpers, which were on sale 10/$10. I bought 3 so my coupon should have doubled to $1.60. Corporate did respond to my email, asking about the date and time of the purchase. I'll let you know what the outcome is.

At HT there is not like COUPON limit, it is like ITEM. So many cashiers get this confused.

AT HARRIS TEETER
I think it confuses me........
so if I have (5) .50/1 anything, I can use all 5 but only 3 double?
and if I have (5) cans of corn and (5) .30/1 corn what happens?
it seems the same thing......you use like coupons on like items, such as
(5)$1/1 item XX when you buy (5) item XX.

I don't want to confuse anyone this is referring to HARRIS TEETER NOT BI-LO
Yes you are right, AT HARRIS TEETER if you had different Q but all the same brand and size then you are only supposed to get 3...these limits are cashier enforced.
During Triples at HT I had Arnold Bread coupon for $.65/1
I got 3 White wheat and 2 honey wheat, I could use 5 $.65/1Q total. The cashier said no, the cashier she consulted said no, I went to CS and they said YES...My point is the cashiers aren't always correct-although this particular one would have bet her life she was right.

ok, now I see your explanation about 5 arnold coupons but 2 different arnold varieties.
