:wavehi:Wags newbie question...If I do the Garnier Fructis that is $2.99 and use the $2 IVC Q and a $1 man Q will I need a filler? I'm thinking yes, but not sure of the reason...will I need the filler to cover the .01 overage or will I need the filler because I'm using 2 Q's on 1 item? Thanks!

hi

i have a question about calculating tax. today was the first time i've ever stepped foot in a walgreens. i wanted to do the garnier & glade deals. the first store i went to i bought what i wanted, used the mq's first then the coupons from the value book (i only needed 1 q/item & it took off for all of them!)

anyway, at one store my oop was 20 cents, listing the tax as .01. my sister came with me and her tax was the same. we drove to another walgreens & did the same deals, but this time calculated tax was a few dollars.

what happened? are the shampoo & glades taxable, maybe one could have skipped the tax & the other store charged it? or one charges tax before q's and one after? i thought it would all be the same?

thanks for the help.

Yes you will need a small filler. give the mfg fist then the IVC. The big overage will be 1¢, so you will need a small cheap filler

were the stores in the same town? different ones? are the counties the same? that could be the cause of the difference in taxes.

I have a question as someone who is BRAND NEW to Walgreen's... I want to take advantage of the Colgate Total & Garnier Fructis deals. How many can I do PER TRANSACTION? Also, when using the IVC, if I am buying, say 2 bottles of Fructis in one transaction, so I need to go and get 2 monthly booklets and take out 2 different Fructis IVC's or will they take one and scan it twice? Thanks very much in advance!

Our Walgreens would only let me get two of the Garnier Shampoos tonight...even though I had coupons for each one I was buying and the coupon said one item per coupon. Is that normal?

There is no limit stated on the Garnier, so as much as your store finds reasonable. You only need one IVC coupon, they scan it once and it will deduct the discount for all of the like items it applies to.

What was the reason, and was this per the manager? Stores are allowed to limit quantities purchased, but two is not very many to allow. I don't find that normal. Even the limits on the 7 Day ad coupon items are usually more than that.

Has anyone had luck shopping at the WAGS website? We have a lot of people who use coupons in our area. I'm happy for them saving money, but by the time I get there (Monday or even early Sunday!) most sale items are cleared out. We already live some miles from our WAGS, and it's the only one within 25 miles. Yes, I do check back on days when the truck comes to restock, but again, lots of miles and still may not necessarily restock what I need.

I'm wondering if there's any way to use any Q's online: 7 day, ESQ, MQ's and/or RR's?
Just wishful thinking?

HELP..Our Walgreens now refuses to allow us to use a coupon from the ES with a Manufacture coupon..They say because it is printed on the ES Q that they consider them Manf. Q's (that can only be used at walgreens) that we can only use one or the other..Is anyone else having this problem or can you tell us what to do..thank you..

Unfortunately it sounds like a YMMV situation with these dang IVC coupons. You could try calling the store manager and seeing what he/she says. Then try the District Office .
Hopefully if they really are doing away with the ESR program, whatever takes its place will not be such a pain for some people.

I figured out at my Wags they also now count as mfgs. I had 20 items and 18 mfg qs and the register would not take my 2 rrs. My checker could not force it either and didn't know why. I came home and studied my receipt and what I could see was that the register considered the Easy Saver qs as mfgs. I could use both on the product, but I needed those other two items as fillers for the 2 Easy Savers. So I did not have products to cover the rrs like I thought. I should have just grabbed a couple of candy bars, but since I didn't know what was going on I didn't. So you might try it with a filler for the Easy Saver q. Then make sure you have more fillers for any rrs you are using. I know it is getting more complicated. But then after this month it all changes again. :hectic1::rolleyes24:

My daugher is an accountant, and since it is tax season, I have been doing some rebate deals for her. I used her gift card to purchase some Wags FAR items for March. Today I goofed and accidentally entered one of her receipts-paid for with her gift card, on my rebate log in. Will Wags reject the rebate, since it was on my sign in, but the receipt shows her gift card number? TIA!

Nope, It doesn't matter. I do my parents rebates each month and I use one gift card up completely and then move on to the other. I never worry which item was bought with which gift card. The only thing that matters is that you put the right items under the right address.

Can I buy 4 coke products that are 4/$13, use (3) $1 off 1 12 pack and a $10RR from huggies deal?

so it would look like this
$13 for 4 pack of coke
-$3 (3 $1 off coupons)
$10
-$10 RR
0 plus taxes on $13... (we get tax on pre coupon total)?

TIA

Yeah I was afraid that might be the case. I'm starting to get pessimistic about the new system. Like maybe it is to curb the great deals. We shall see. Maybe it is to get all the Wags on the same page and stop all the confusion. That would be a good thing, I think, depending on what the page says. :wink7:

Can someone confirm/deny that the Dove RR deal lasts all month or was it just last week when the bar soap was on sale for 99c w/ the in ad coupon? I bought 8 deoderants earlier this week & thought I should get a $10RR, but nothing spit out. The cashier told me that the RR deal was only valid the week it was in the flyer, so I didn't argue, because I wasn't sure....where could I find proof to take in to talk to the manager so I can get my RR if I do indeed deserve them?

Most of the RR deals do not last all month. The month long deals are usually the FAR items.

The Dove deal IS a month long RR deal. If there isn't a shelf tag about it near the shampoos then look over at the displays near the cosmetics counter. I noticed at a few stores that they had Dove shampoos set into little cardboard displays that had the MONTH long RR deal written on the cardboard.

However, if you got the travel sized deodorants, they fixed it so you won't get the RR on those anymore.

I was wondering if anyone still had Axe codes left that they haven't printed off. I have 5 RR of axe codes, and they won't go through anymore. I tired yesterday and today. It says you have to submit and print them by tomorrow, but they stopped printing yesterday. The number to call is only valid mon-fri-8-5, so it's not use calling them, as the deal ends tomorrow. And I know I haven't already submitted these tickets. I have tried everything, other computers, other printers, nothing is working, anyone else having this problem.

I'm sure I've seen this before, but instead of assuming, I'm just going to ask for clarification. I'm not finding it in the FAQ, either, though I thought I'd seen it there before. Maybe I've read so much that I'm just not absorbing anymore.

If you use a MQ on a RR item, aren't you still supposed to get the RR? I had an incident yesterday in which a manager was pretty short with me. I used a $2 MQ on Dry Idea deodorant which is listed in the sales paper as giving a $2 RR. It didn't print my RR, so the cashier called for the manager. The manager got really frustrated and insisted that one isn't supposed to get RRs when they use MQs. The cashier pointed out that many people had been using Huggies coupons and getting back their RRs and the manager huffed that it's not supposed to work that way, but "sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't."

She did force one $2 RR for me, even though I purchased two deodorants in two transactions. I let it go because I'm a pick my battles kind of person and was really wondering if maybe I was misunderstanding something after all. I went back later last night and bought another Dry Idea deodorant with no coupons and paid cash just to see what would happen and a RR did pop out which really makes me wonder if I'm not understanding this whole thing.

Is there a definitive right and wrong answer to this?

ETA:
The manager also told me that the store has nothing to do with what goes on with that Catalina machine, but she was able to print out a $2 RR. I'm thoroughly confused.

03-14-2009, 01:33:05 PM
I know you saw the other thread about the Dry Idea and RR and same code, but that is unusual from my experience. I've never had a problem getting RRs when using coupons.

As far as having anything to do with the catalina, yet printing you out a $2RR, I think she means the catalina machine is programmed to recognize when a customer meets the requirements and they don't control that part. What they do control is the on/off switch and paper filling combining those with their own perceptions of coupon usage. ;)

Producing a $2 RR just like that, I don't know if there is a special key or if she just rung up the Dry Idea to produce the RR and then voided it later.

Using a Manf coupon on a RR item doesn't affect weather the RR prints out or not. But there are several factors to remember..... 1) Make sure you do not have more coupons than items, 2) make sure you have the right items, 3) make sure if there is a certain $ amount required, that it is met. I always make sure the green light is on. The stores have no control over the machines.

The machine had been working fine and in that transaction I only had the one deodorant and one $2 coupon. I don't know if the fact that the deodorant was clearance priced at $2.19 made a difference, but the manager insisted it was because I had used that $2 coupon. Otherwise, I met all the other requirements for the transaction. I know I've gotten RRs on many items for which I've used coupons. I guess I'm just a little frustrated that she was so short with me about it. I wasn't ugly to her at all.

So should I have gotten two $2 RRs since I bought two qualifying deodorants in two transactions? I don't intend to pursue it further. I'm just trying to make sure I understand for the future. I have a $1.50 Colgate coupon that should make the current Colgate deal there a money maker, but now I'm hesitant to try it since I have enough of a toothpaste stockpile that I wouldn't be "buying" it if it weren't a money maker or completely free, you know?

If I am remembering right...... its buy 2 get $, buy 4 get $...and so on.....so you should have gotten a RR for the amount rewarded for buying 2.

I understand, just make sure when you go to get the Colgate, The only coupon I have is for 6.0 oz or larger and for Colgate Total. If this is the coupon you have it will not work on this deal, as the Colgate on sale is the 4.0

Smee
03-14-2009, 02:27:08 PM
The Colgate coupon I have is $1.50 "On any Colgate Total Advanced Whitening, Colgate Total Advanced Clean or Colgate Total Advanced Fresh Toothpaste (4.0 oz. or larger)." It should work. I hope. I guess I'm wanting to make sure I have some sort of recourse if by chance my RRs don't print and the manager tries again to tell me it's because I used the coupon. I've had enough really good experiences in there not to make every little thing a battle, but I don't want to start losing money, either.

Thanks so much for the input. It helps a lot in understanding when I need stand my ground and when to let it go.

I believe you said you bought dry idea deod ? if so no you would only get one RR since you got 2 in one transaction. In order to get 2RR you would have to split up your orders on the dry idea

Smee
03-15-2009, 08:28:22 AM
I bought two split into two different transactions. I had two $2 coupons and used one for each transaction. In neither transaction with the coupons did the RR print. The manager somehow (and really grudgingly) managed to force one $2 RR and I let it go after that since I really don't want to set up an adversarial relationship over something I got for nearly free to begin with (they were clearance priced at $2.19 which made them .19 a piece with the $2 coupon) even though it would have been an even sweeter deal and even though, from what I understand, I still should have gotten the RR.

I did go back into the store later and buy one more of the qualifying deodorants with no coupons and paid cash and it did print the $2 RR.

I am looking for a little help please. I just starting shopping at Wags(3 weeks now) and I haven't had a problem until yesterday. When checking out the Huggies IP's wouldn't scan. There were 2 other women at another register and their's did not scan either. The cashier finally got two of them to key in, but as the lines grew and people were getting rude she handed the other one back and said to try and use it later. She also said that they don't do rainchecks(I wanted one for the Tuf paper towels). I felt bad, she was new and almost in tears, and the other cashier wouldn't come show her how to get the register to take the third q off and my son was getting very restless. So I paid and left. Now do I take the diapers back? I understand it is only $3.00 but $3.00 is $3.00.

You could try, I suppose. However, personally, I'd rather just use it later and keep a positive relationship with the WAG if you're going to be shopping there on a regular basis.
That said, it's YMMV as to whether or not you will get the $3 for a coupon that wasn't used at the time of purchase, regardless of the situation. HTH.

I'm not sure about the travel size deodorants, but another member posted that the travel size bar soap is not ringing up at 25% off. My guess would be that the travel sizes are not included in the 25% off this time. HTH.

Mikki 316- Thanks for the help. I just wondered because diapers are not an item I buy. They were for a gift, so maybe $10 is a good price anyway. If the IP's didn't scan the first time I doubt that they will scan if I would need to use them at a later date. Being new to Wags I just wanted to make sure I did nothing wrong.

I scanned through the FAQ and couldn't find this question -- if I bought some things using a RR but then want to return one of the items....will the store allow this and if so what will I get for my return (credit to my credit card or a store credit or other)?

thanks.

The store should allow it..... and since you didn't pay for it with a Credit Card it shouldn't be credited back to a card. As for weather the store will give you money back or store credit.....that will depend on the store manager I am sure.

the reason I said credit to my credit card is because my total after redeeming the RR came to a couple bucks so if they were to refund me they might put it back on my card. But anyway, thanks for the answer. I hope they let me return it because I bought two of the free-after-rebate Axe items (totally would have never bought them unless they were free) and didn't realize until I got home that it was a limit of one rebate for all Axe items -- not a limit of one per type of item (one shampoo, one styling product).

Oh I see on the credit card....depending on if it was a debit card or a regular credit card....if you pay by debit, you will get cash back, paying by credit, most of the time will result in a credit back to the card. Most of the FAR products are limit 1. Just take it back and try it. Or you could call and speak to the manager and asked before you went back.

I was using a Dove $10 RR for the Listerine deal. With the coupon from diabetes mag., I needed $4.00 worth of filler items. I bought 2 bags of M&M's for the $4.00 difference. Now that I'm back home to look at the receipt, he acidentally charged me for 3 bags of M&M's. Am I at a loss of money as I left the store already?

I would take everything you purchased back to the store along with the reciept and ask the manager to refund the difference for the bag you didn't purchase

I wanted to see if anyone else is having the same problem as I am. My Walgreen's is no longer accepting manuf. coupons with 7 day Walgreen's coupons. I am soooooo frustrated with them. It seems like they are changing their policy everyday and I can't get a straight answer from anyone. Is this something that is up to the discretion of the store manager alone??

any help would be greatly appreciated.

unfortunately it is a YMMV on coupons at Walgreens since they have no real coupon policy in place. You try to call the Store Manager and speak to him/her about it, and then maybe call the District Manager and speak to him/her about it. I have been to 3 Wags in the past week that would not accept any coupons that gave even .01 overage. They wouldn't even adjust the coupons to make the item free. I thought Wags did have an official policy about adjusting coupons? I was hoping I could print it out and take it with me next time, but I guess not? Thanks for your help!

Q: Can I use a mfr. Coupon with a Walgreens 7-day coupon or an EasySaver instant value coupon?
A: Yes, you can. If the mfr. coupon causes overage or even .01 more than the cost, you may have problems (coupon will beep). Walgreens does have the capability to override the cost of the item to make it match the coupon, though not all stores will do this. To avoid overage beeping, scan the manf coupon first, then the 7 day &/or IVC.

Hope this helps you some.

Q: My RR/Catalina didn't print. What do I do ?
A1: The store will give you a form to fill out and mail in to catalina

I tried to buy 4 boxes of Glucerna cereal today with $5/1 and $10/2 coupons I had printed from Glucerna and some other website. The cereal is $4.99 at WG and they have RR deal where you get a $7 RR if you buy 4 boxes. The last coupon would not beep because it was exceeding the price of the Glucerna ($20 vs $19.96). The manager (or someone playing the manager, she did not have a name tag on) refused to do anything, she told me to save the coupon to use the next time (yeah, right). I told her to just ring up the last coupon as $4.96 if necessary and when she refused, I told her to give me back my coupons and I just sent a nastygram to corporate (I will try another store tomorrow when I know the manager has a brain and hopefully will do better). I understand that the WG registers beep if the coupon is higher than the price of the item, but it seems to me that the managers should have SOME way to override this, or manually enter the coupon as a lower amount. Am I wrong? It's not my fault that Glucerna is printing coupons for $5 off 1 cereal and WG is selling it for a penny less.

BTW it's not like this would have made my order total negative as I had bought other items.

Actually, that does not address the issue (which I also just posted about, I had not noticed the earlier post). There is no IVC or 7-day coupon involved. The price of the the item is less than the coupon value, in my case $4.99 vs $5. There has to be a way for them to accept the coupon, adjusting the value (or price of the item) if necessary.

My Walgreens does two different things depending on the store..

If an item is 4.99 and you have a $5 coupon...

Some of my Wags adjusts the MQ coupon to 4.99

Some of my Wags makes the product $5 so I can use the $5 coupon.

so i went today to try the glucerna deal that ends 3/31
i brought four boxes to the register priced in at 4.99 each ( 4) =19.96
i used a small .33 caramel for the filler bringing my total to 20.29 before tax
the first coupon went through but the second one would not.

so i asked her to try it without 2 boxes and it would not even take one coupon.

i would have had a rr...

I just posted the same problem right before yours. The issue is not the order total, it is the price of the Glucerna items vs the coupon value. See the reply before yours to see what the store SHOULD do. Sadly there seem to be alot of WG managers out there who don't know what they're doing. I hope when I get to the store I go to that has a smart manager, they have stock on the cereal.

I hope I'm posting in the right thread. I'm not sure if I fully understand how to roll your RR. This is what I'm thinking about doing with my 3/$6.00 RR from the Listerine deal last week. Can someone please tell me if this will work:
Purchase:
1 Axe shampoo $ 6.99 w/$ 6.99 mir
1 Thera flu $ 5.99 -$2/1 mq and $3mir
1 Right Guard $5.99 w/$5mir
2 Pledge fabric sweepers 2/$7 - 2/$2.00mq and $2mir
Total of $25.97- mq of $6.00= $ 19.97
Is it right that RR's are counted as MQ and if you have 5 MQ, you have to purchase 5 products? Are rebates put on a gift card that can be used for anything in the store?

I bought a theraflu, triaminic, and 3 hunt's tomato sauce today. I am going to buy more hunt's sauce this week so I can get the $5 of $10 ESR. I add my receipts to the walgreens rebate site as soon as I get home, so I don't lose it or forget. Should I check off all three today (theraflu, triaminic, and 3 hunt's tomato sauce), do just the theraflu and triaminic today and do the sauce one when I buy them all, or just wait on all 3 ESR until I have bought all my sauce?

Will it mess up my rebate if I enter 2 things from one receipt and then go back to add the tomato sauce? I hope I'm explaining this right and not confusing everyone. :)

03-22-2009, 05:03:06 PM
You don't even have to check anything off to receive the rebates; the computer automatically knows what to credit when you enter all the information from the receipt. You can buy 2 Hunt's today 2 tomorrow and 2 everyday until the end of the rebate and when you submit it will add those all together. :)

I've heard that their registers are now set up differently, no longer allowing you to do it. Example: My old "argument" for using 2 Qs on B1G1s was that I pay tax on both. Bought Rimmel mascara the other day and guess what? No tax on the free one from the Wags sale--so now my argument has gone out the window. I have used 2 Qs before with no problems but I have to admit that I am kind of nervous about trying now!

So, here is the resolution on the Glucerna. have the cashier override the price of the first box to $5.03. Then the others can be $4.99 and you will come out at $20 and the register will be happy and you can use all of the coupons.

There is a longer version which includes another clueless manager telling me that I could not use more than one coupon per transaction, but fortunately I convinced her to tell the cashier to just ring it up at the higher price and take my coupons, and then I went to a (different) cashier who seemed to be intelligent and understood what I was trying to do. The original plan was to ring them all up at $5 but making the first one $5.03 allowed the others to be scanned normally with the same result.

Please remember that *most* cashiers/managers are not super couponers and just because they aren't doesn't make them any less "intelligent" than we are. I'm not a cashier or store manager, but it's quite offensive to those who are.

The assistant manager should know how to resolve an issue like this and should not be telling me that the coupon is one per transaction without even reading it. And the cashiers I dealt with on Saturday and initially on Sunday were both clueless. There is a difference between being a coupon expert and knowing how to handle common problems.

Apparently, some areas are getting a regional ad that doesn't include all the deals in the national ads. Some members have reported that those areas won't honor the national ad items that aren't in their ads. Sorry.

You can't use a MQ, but you can use a WAG Q. The whole point of a filler is to be able to either have an extra item w/o a MQ so you can use a RR or to increase your $ amount to use a x/xx coupon.
If you have another reason for wanting a filler, please post and we'll help you figure it out.

My experience is that smaller stores get a smaller ad without all of the items. This week there are at last 2 different ads - one 8 page and one 16 page. The Hunts tomato sauce coupon is not in the 8 page ad but presumably would work if you took it to a store with the smaller ad.

I complained to WG corporate once again a smaller store that did not have the same stuff in the ad and I got a call from the SM who told me that he would honor prices from the large ad if I brought it in (of course, that assumes that I somehow got the other ad).

So, I got a call from the store manager today. I didn't have a lot of time to talk because it was at work and I had another call, but the bottom line is she did not apologize, and insisted that the person did the correct thing. She said they cannot change the item price or ring up the coupon at a different value. I told her at this point it was a non-issue since I figured out the correct way to do it and had made my purchase elsewhere, and I told her that she was wrong. It really shocked me that she STILL did not know how to handle a situation like this, and was not going to learn, since she was convinced that they did not do anything wrong.

Too bad they did not have the district manager call me, although I guess their response might have been the same. Maybe I will write back and ask the corporate policy.and not make it a store issue.

You probably got $8 off for the ESR coupon, but unless you had 2 manufacturers coupons you only got $4 off for that. And honestly, it can't be THAT difficult to look for the ESR coupon on the receipt -- it shows by name and by quantity.

The Scott 4 pack toilet paper has a in ad Q 2/$5. Do I have to get 2 or can I get 1 for $2.50? I tried yesterday and she said I had to get both. The reason I ask this is because this was at the WAGS that the cashiers seem to know nothing about anything.

If you mean a 7 day coupon, you should get one pk for $2.50. If it's a MegaSaver, they ring up weird, so you'd need to buy 2 or more to get a discount.

I can join the club... I went Sunday to buy stuff and had a $2 RR that expired. At least it wasn't TOO high of a value but still, I would never have bought the item if I was going to pay that extra $2. I just never made it back to the store last week UGH

I have a $3 and a $2 RR from the chapstick and edge promotions. My question is will I be able to purchase another chapstick and shaving gel using the RRs to pay for them and then receive new RRs or will I have to purchase them separately using the differing RR to purchase?
I hope that makes sense.

yes if you buy the skintimate or edge with the chapstick RR then you will get the RR from the skintimate/edge deal.
If you buy the chapstick and a filler and pay with the skintimate/edge RR you will get the chapstick RR.

Could possibly be a YMMV on that coupon, some may take it while others won't. If it doesn't say "good only at xyz store" you should be able to use it.
However.........don't waste a good coupon like that at walgreens right now, because if you purchase a coke product you get a free candy bar, so really would be a waste to use it this month, or so I am thinking unless I am missing something

That must be your individual store's policy. We (I) use coupons all the time on RR products. Try another store.

I agree with Mikki, I use coupons all the time with RR, it has to just be your store. I also would try a different store.

Had a horrible experience at Walgreens Sunday afternoon 4/5/09. Got no register rewards for colgate ($3.49), or the icing ($1 wyb2). The manager explained if you use a coupon of any kind, you will not get a RR for the product. I understand the colgate, as it is overage, but I still would have been paying .45 for each icing with my coupon and the RR. Is this a new policy, or just at my Walgreens?

I would contact the Catalina Company, they should be able to take care of you and get you your RRs
Q: My RR/Catalina didn't print. What do I do ?
A1: The store will give you a form to fill out and mail in to catalina
A2: 1-888-8coupon, option 3
A3: use the online form: Contact | Catalina Marketing (http://www.catalinamarketing.com/contact/)

I was under the impression that when the rebate says "buy $10 of . . . and get back $5" or something to that affect, that the in store ad discount would not affect the original price and therefore you could buy the same amount that you would have bought for the rebate, but spend less and still get the rebate back. Does that make sense? Last month (March) I purchased 11 cans of hunts tomato sauce, orig. 99cents, but there was the in store "coupon" for 39 cents. I saw a post that said it would take the orig. price for the rebate, but then when I didn't get that money back in my rebate I called the Walgreens rebate hotline and they said that if you use any coupon at all that affects the price for the rebate amount. Please help!

Does a 7-day coupon with a limit count as one coupon for each item, or is it just one coupon total?
What I mean is, I am trying to figure out how many items I need to purchase on my order this week in order to use my stack of coupons, since I know that # coupons must = number of items. If I have a 7-day coupon, let's use for example the Green Giant canned veggies limit 4 - if I get four cans of veggies have I used 4 coupons, or just 1? I notice on the receipt that a Walgreen's coupon with a limit only takes one line in the coupon area, so I'm thinking 1? I hope my question makes some sense.

TIA!

I'm getting a little frustrated with Walgreens. I wonder if each Walgreen has their own policy? I wanted to do the Tylenol deal, where you get $3.00 RR back if you bought two. Well since I got two Tylenol cold symptoms manufacture coupon, I thought it would be a great idea to get a sweet deal and pay the rest with my RR from my Crest purchase. Apparently she said either I use my manufacture coupon or with my RR. You can't do both??

7 day and IVC coupons don't count in register logic. You just need to count the MQs/RRs and have one item per MQ/RR.

The Store Manager sets his/her coupon policy. Stinks, huh? They do have some vague guidelines, but some are just more strict than others.
Did you only purchase the two Tylenol items? If so, you would have to buy a filler item in order to use the RR, which is also a MQ. One item/one coupon. You had two items and three coupons.

OK, so I spoke to someone else I know who is an expert at Walgreens stuff. She explained that the 7-day or the IVC, what I called the "in store ad" is actually considered a sale price and therefore is the actual price taken into account for the rebate. I thought it was considered a coupon, but it is not, it is a sale price. Now I know!

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but does it really matter what order you hand the coupons? I used to hand my Wags coupons first, but then read somewhere on here that you should hand them last, so I did that yesterday. Well, the cashier told me that they had to be scanned first, but couldn't give a reason why, so she scanned them & it worked fine.....

First, at the stores I went to, the tomato sauce was 99c each, but if you bought 5 or more, it was $4/5, or 80c each. Did your receipt reflect this or did they really all ring up at 99c with no quantity discount?

As for the coupon, did you mention this to the rebate people or did they say something to do? What I would do in a case like that is simply tell them that you bought 11x99c worth of items and did not get the rebate. Let them tell you that there was a coupon.

BTW, I bought 13 cans (at 80c each) and got my rebate. So did many other people. Which is why I think your issue was that you simply did not buy enough, not the coupon.

7 day and IVC coupons don't count in register logic. You just need to count the MQs/RRs and have one item per MQ/RR.
One wrinkle here -- if a coupon is of multiple items (i.e., Buy 2 get $1 off), it seems to count as 2 coupons. Someone on another board had a problem buying the Hershey's and had a buy 3 get $1.50 back MC. He bought 4 and could only use one RR in addition to the $1.50 MC. The only excuse for this is that it counted the Hershey's MC as 3 coupons.

The only time it makes a difference is when there's overage with the MQ + WAG q. Then you need to give the MQ first so the coupons won't beep and you'll get overage.

You're right. The register will "attach" x/2 to two items. So, only one coupon can be "attached" to each item.

I'm not sure what "expert" means, but I can tell you that as long as I've been doing WAG ESR, it's always been before coupon price. As long as the item doesn't automatically ring up the sale price (sometimes the 7 days qs have been already programmed into the register- rare), then the rebate is for the amount before coupons.
Also, see MisterBill's post. These were on MegaSaver and rang up kind of oddly on the receipt, depending on how many you purchased per transaction.

you do not have to buy the amount listed on the IVC coupon. You can buy only one if this is what you want.

Ok now I feel bad. I just got home from Wags and am looking at my receipts. I bought

colgate 3.49
- 1.00 colgate q
candy egg .59
3.08 TOTAL
used the 3.00 RR from edge
.08 + tax oop

I only bought the eggs cause i needed a .51 filler and well I had my kids with me and thats what they wanted.

NOW the part I feel bad about, I didnt know there was a wags q in this weeks flier. I guess I wasnt paying attention cause I really dont buy candy, and the cashier (who I really LOVE) typed in the q and it took off .20 for the egg. So now that im looking at my receipt my total is -0.18 which they must have taken out of the tax.

I have 4 kids (1,3,5,7) all asking for stuff so I really wasnt paying much attention, which is why I always go to this cashier cause she always scans in all my qs so I dont have to 'watch' her closely.

ANYWAY, now that I see it went neg and my tax was paid with the neg amount will she get in trouble for it? We did it 3 times. I actually just gave her all my qs and RR and she did her thing while I made my son calm down. I use my gc too so I didnt actually pay her anything.

Ok so long story but will I get her in trouble? Im thinking of going back and fixing it but not sure how or even what to say. I totally love this cashier and dont want her to get in trouble over me not paying attention.

thanks

I have a coupon for $4 off two One-A-Day products. I tried to use it yesterday to buy two of the drink mixes for 1.49 each. The register beeped and the cashier said I couldn't use it because the total of the mixes was less than $4. I did have other purchases, so I wouldn't have had a negative balance. Is this right, or can I use this coupon?

YMMV on that coupon and only 2 of the one a days,
with the total of the 2 only being 2.98, the coupon will beep since the coupon is $4.00, if you had gotten 3 of them which would be over $4.00 the coupon would not have beeped.

Right, buying 3 and using the coupon would have been the way to go (or one of the drinks and some other One-a-Day product as close to $2.51 as possible).

actually I am not positive but I think it would beep even if there were other items totaling up to 4.00, the items would have to be one a day products, or I am pretty sure anyway
Yes, I meant that they should buy 2 One-a-Day products, where the 2nd one was close to $2.51. I had originally suggested buying 3 of the $1.49 items, so I figured it would be obvious (I guess not).

According to the wording on the RRs, that would be misuse of of coupons. You may use one MQ, including RRs, per item purchased. Using a RR and another MQ and posting about it on HCW would result in infraction points.

So I have a question. Last week I bought the One A Day for the ESR. Only one, but now I found my $4 off coupon for One A Day. Should I go back and return the one I bought and rebuy the 3 so that I can use the $4 coupon and essentially get all three free (mm with the ESR), or is it not worth the hastle. I paid with RR when I did the transaction along with other RR deals so my OOP wasn't very much. :shrug7:

Personally, I would rather keep a positive relationship with my store and just get more if you want to use the Q. If you've already entered the receipt online it will be flagged as a return and possibly mess up your ESR. Too much hassle, IMHO.

I have a question about the products in the Wags ad that say "Buy 1 at $x.xx Get 1 Free." Can you use 2 coupons on those like the regular B1G1? Or do you have to pay the printed amount to get the 2nd one free?
For example, the Excedrin is Buy 1 at $4.79 Get 1 Free and I have 2 $2 off coupons.

I would just go in and speak with the MGR. Take the items with you, in case you need to return and rebuy one of them. They will probably just try to give you a print-out from their office computer, which is not valid for a rebate.

You will need to give the MQ first, but with that much overage you might have an issue. Make sure to have enough to cover the overage. Again, overage is YMMV at Walgreens.

If you return they should refund the total price since they'll get the $ for the q. Especially since you're just going to turn around and re-buy the item anyway. It shouldn't cost you any more oop. Just explain the situation to the manager and if he's going to freak out over it, then just keep it and call it a lesson learned. :wink7:

I was under the impression that the register deducts coupons on a return (and yes, WG pockets the coupon value). The easiest thing to do is to ask the manager to return it without a receipt, get the money on a W Card, then use that to rebuy it.

Hi, I am new to the whole Walgreens thing. I bought some things last night and I did the RRs first, thinking I could then use those RRs to pay for the things that were ESR in the next transaction. First I bought the ponytail holders, skintimate, Special K & Colgate toothbrush, resulting in 4 RRs. Then I bought the Physician's Formula and Wal-itin allergy medicine and the register would only take the first RR that the cashier scanned. Are you only allowed one RR per transaction, or is there another reason they wouldn't work?

YMMV on using more then one RR per transaction as some folks have reported.
Your transaction with the Physican's Formula did you use a mfg coupon? if so that is the reason only one of your RR would be accepted by the register. Total number of coupons/register rewards cannot exceed number of items in the transaction.

Alright it happened to me, I submitted my reciept for the 'glade' items, I got 4 candles, and one oust. I know you can't get more then $4 back, so only 4 items, but I wanted it all anyways. So I got an error message today saying something about it not working and I needed to delete it and either send it in or nothing. I deleted it and resubmitted it. If it doesn't go through again do I have to mail in all my receipts or just the one?

Oh, I see now. I did use 2 coupons on the makeup. I have been a CVS shopper for a long time, and I didn't realize that RRs are like manufacturer coupons at Walgreens instead of being like cash at CVS. Is there a way to get around it? Do you just throw in little filler items to be able to use them all at once? Thanks for the response!!

Newbie Walgreens addict question, lol:

I have a $3.50 RR from Colgate, so it should be OK to use on the Mitchum, right?

Can I do this?

1 Mitchum $2.99
2 pkgs plastic forks, $1 (with q from wags ad, pg 4)

Equals $3.99

Minus $3.50 RR
Minus 75 cent mitchum q
and using above mentioned wags q on pg 4 of ad

That will put my purchase in the negative, except for tax. Will that work or beep? And I give the q's as RR, then MQ, then wags q, right?

Also, I believe I'm OK w/ the # of items and # of q.........I have 3 of each, right?

ETA: I forgot to ask.........I wil try to roll the mitchum RR and Skintimate RR back & forth 3 times. Are they the same parent company?

Just remember that Walgreen's does not give overage, so if you have other items that you are purchasing anyway, then no you would not need a filler, IF you are only buying the item that you have the coupons for then YES you would need a filler, only because of the overage. The ESQ does not count toward the coupon count.

I want to do the Reach dental deal. It is $.99 for floss or a toothbrush with the Wags in-ad coupon.

I have a $.50 off one floss OR toothbrush, and a $1.50 off floss AND toothbrush.

having a filler won't work in this case, if you use those particular coupons you will need to get 3 toothbrush/floss items. As one of the coupons is for 50¢ off either toothbrush or floss, and the other is $1.50 off floss and toothbrush. since the coupons cover 3 items you will need 3 of the toothbrush/floss

Okay, I really hate Wags right now. I sent my dh to wags on his way to work before they closed at 10. He told me that they have signs up now saying that if you use a RR another RR will not print off. Now I know they've said this in the past and it's always worked. In fact my dh gave the cashier 2-$2 RR and got $5 RR back, so obviously it doesn't work. So my question is what should I do? When did Wags get into home care or something like that? I was out yesterday and saw a van on the highway. It was white with a 888# number on the back and MO plate.

Also some were on-air on a local radio station bad mouthing Wags over a store built where some popular restuarant, the Parkmoor, was located. Just my opinion; but Wags is generating more tax revenue than some local hangout.

No, this was a regular van without the side windows. Each back doors had small glass panel and the driver got off the highway way before me. Anyway, the same radio station had on a bigshot from Express Scripts early today. That company, which is HQ on a state university campus (UMSL) is already planning to build elsewhere to meet business growth.

I was out shopping today and needed to buy 4 items. I had 3 RR and 1 manufacture coupon. I got the 3 items I went in for and was browsing the clearance isle for a 4th item. I found some replacement toothbrush heads that I THOUGHT were $3.50. It didn't dawn on me until I got down the road that my oop total was higher than I thought it should have been. Sure enough, they rang up as $9.99. My daughter was screaming and I was anxious to get out of there, so I wasn't paying attention when the cashier was checking me out.
I can go back later tonight and see if they really were 3.50, or if they were just 3.50 off regular price. Obviously, I"ll ask for a refund if they just rang up wrong. But if they are $9.99 - I'd rather return them. Or can I? That's my 4th item in that transaction. What would happen?
Thanks!

I just kinda brushed it off saying its just .50 but I called today to ask if they had a limit onl how many coupons they take and the manager told me that they will not take more coupons than items you buy. So many people seem to be complaining that their stores are putting up signs that say if you pay with a rr one won't print off. Is there any truth to this? Meaning is it new or going to be true in stores now? I know it still works, as always, but it seems like there are a number of stores that are making this a rule now? Is there anyway to find out if there is any truth to the pay with rr and not get one?

transaction 6: buy rembrandt toothpaste for $5.99, buy foil on sale for $.89, use $1 coupon to make it negative, add two small fillers, use $5 RR, pay roughly $1, earn $6 RR

Looks good. Just don't forget your fillers. :wavehi:

Does this scenario work?

transaction 1: bayer glucose meter, $14.99, use coupon to make it $0 earn $5 RR
transaction 2: buy Schick intuition razor for $8.99, use $4 coupon= $5, add small filler, use $5 RR, pay tax, earn $3 RR
transaction 3: buy Nivea body wash for $4.99, use $1 coupon= $4, use $3 RR and pay $1 cash plus a small filler item, earn $5 RR
transaction 4: repeat step 2, earn $3 RR
transaction 5: repeat step 3, earn $5 RR
transaction 6: buy rembrandt toothpaste for $5.99, buy foil on sale for $.89, use $1 coupon to make it negative, add two small fillers, use $5 RR, pay roughly $1, earn $6 RR

I haven't seen the signs in my area. I've been rolling all week. *Fingers crossed* that it continues to work this way! I haven't been told anything differently ("officially").

Thanks!

They should refund the difference to you.

I'm new to all this and I have a WAG question......I was in there Friday and was buying just little things and saw that they had a tear pad on the fridge. door for .50 off a diet pepsi and when I gave the girl my coupons when she got to the pepsi one it would not take it saying I had to many. I just kinda brushed it off saying its just .50 but I called today to ask if they had a limit onl how many coupons they take and the manager told me that they will not take more coupons than items you buy. Does that sound right? is it that way for every store? like CVS, Target, etc.

if you have 5 items you can only have 5 coupons, RR count as coupons.
so 5 items...... 3mfg and 2 RR and so on.

I sent a long note to WG yesterday telling them how much I dislike their switchover from rebates to RR. I told them that people are reporting that individual stores are making up their own rules (like the one per order mentioned here) and that I hoppe this is not sanctioned or tolerated by corporate. I shopped at one store early in April where I intended to buy a shopping cart full of stuff and had to stop after the first transaction because I found out that their Catalina system was down due to a power failure earlier in the day and no one thought it was important enough to put up a sign telling customers about this.

I closed by telling them that I would no longer go out of my way to shop at their stores (I live 30 mins from WG but made it my business to get there at least once a month) and also would likely avoid them when I am in the area unless they have a great deal. I also pointed out that if their RR system remains as unreliable as I have found it to me, they may start getting complaints from consumer affairs departments since they're not delivering on the sale price they have advertised.

Oh yeah I also pointed out that if their plan was to emulate the CVS ECB program, they did a very poor job of it.

We'll see what they have to say in response. I doubt I'll be changing their mind.

If your store takes Walgreen Register Rewards as competitor coupons :BigHand:
however we don't allow discussion on it as the Register Rewards are issued by Walgreens for the intention of redeeming them at Walgreens. If you are one of the lucky ones who has a store that takes them , however remember we don't allow discussion of it.

I've been reading the boards for a long time (years, maybe?!) but have only recently gotten *serious* about couponing. Now I have a question. :smile3:

I understand what an overage is, but does that mean that WG will give you cash back in your transaction? The reason I ask this is because my WG will not let me use a coupon if that coupon will cause me to have an overage. Is that right? I haven't been arguing with them, lol, because they have been kind enough to let me do six/seven/eight transactions at one time, but I was wondering if I'm kinda getting screwed out of some savings? :shrug7:

Thanks in advance!!

WAG policy is that they will not give cash back. We usually just add some other items to absorb overage, if the store allows it. YMMV.

So when people are saying that it is a money maker, it just means that you can buy more stuff with the money you are paying OOP?

Thanks for the reply!

Under the Walgreens printed in red and above the barcode.

Nivea is part of: Beiersdorf. I believe this is the company listed on the Catalina.

hth!

Just wanted to add while we don't allow the discussion in the Walgreens forum. We do allow the discussion in forums like Publix, where we even list the WAG q's as match ups. The GA area Publix stores accept WAG q's as competitors' coupons. You might want to check out the grocery forums.

You mean for the same item? They already don't. Or has WG come up with a new way to make the RR's even more annoying?

Yes, you can. As long as it's not a prohibited/excluded item listed on the RR, you can use it for anything. (Just make sure you don't try to "roll" it into the same promotion, or you won't get another RR to print).

I haven't heard anything about this. I don't think it's a general rule (at least we aren't being given that info, nor are the numerous employees/managers I've spoken with). That would definitely kill their business, IMHO.

BTW, I'm assuming you mean using a RR on a different promotion, not just rolling it into the same promo, which doesn't roll to begin with unless it's a glitch.

Sorry, I didn't read down far enough before my last post.

WAG doesn't control how the RRs print. That's Catalina Marketing and/or whomever programs the computer/catalina machine. Just my opinion, but I think someone's just thinking the sky is falling. :rolleyes24:

ok. I hope I'm post this in the right spot. I'm new to doing this.
I do not have a walgreens account. I'm getting one tomorrow.

1. Can I get my card tomorrow and use it right then?
2. Register Rewards for this week.

If I:
buy (4) Bayer quick Release $2.49 =$10. get 10RR
Niva Bodywash (1) $4.99 = $5 get 5RR

Can I turn around and buy the 2/20 Huggies pullups with 2 $2.00 coupons
Making them $16.00 , use May 15RR , and walk out paying a dollar. Plus I'll get 2 more RR?

Thanks

No card / account is required at WAG.
You will only get 1 RR per promotion per transaction. So, if you want to buy 4 Bayer quick release, you'll have to do 4 transactions. You can do 1 bayer and 1 nivea in the same transaction and get the $2.50 (bayer) and the $5 (nivea) RRs.
As for the Huggies transaction, you can only use one MQ (including RRs) per product purchased. You would need filler items (without MQs attached to them) in order to use the RRs.
As long as the RRs you use to pay are from a different promotion, you should still receive the RRs on the transaction.
Hope that makes sense.

This is so confusing!!!!

OK. so I can get (1) bayer & (1) Niva in one transaction and get about $7.50 RR.

Then in second transaction I can do the 2/20 pullups using my 2MQ & My RR Paying around 8.50 and I will get 2 more RR.

Do I need a filler with the pullups because I'm using 2mq & 2rr and only buying 2 items?

Thanks for all the help!!!!!

yes you will need 2 fillers. Number of manufacture coupons/ Register Rewards can't exceed number of items in the transaction

I went last night and tried to do the Rembrandt and the Nivea but the cashier told me I'd have to do two separate transactions to get both RR. She did two transactions for me and I got them separately (I didn't use one to pay for the other) but after reading the last posts I think she was wrong. Right?!

People need to start emailing WG and tell them that they are not going to put up with this nonsense with stores making up their own rules for RR's. And even worse if this really is a corporate rule, it needs to be stopped.

Let them know that you don't like the new system. If they don't keep hearing it, they will think that people don't mind it.
