Can I buy more than one True North in a transaction?
Can I use the $3 rr to buy an aditional one?

You will only get one RR per promo per transaction.
WAG RRs do not roll. You can't use the True North RR to purchase more True North and still get a $3 RR.
You CAN use the True North RR to buy something in another promo and roll them back and forth.

Anyone know if you can use a RR on ink cartridge refills?

I've used them for refills several times. :BigHand: Refills are also not mentioned as a no-no in the fine print of the coupon. I know that because I had a photo tech once literally use a magnifying glass to see if it was okay. :giggle2: It was and it worked fine.

(BTW, the photo guy wasn't being mean about it or anything. He just had never had anyone pay for a refill with a RR and wanted to make sure that he did not get into trouble.)

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I took my weekly Walgreens shopping trip today and when I went up to check out, the cashier was telling me that they are doing away with most of the RR deals before Christmas sometime and they are bringing back their rebates program to make sure that people are only getting the limit of 1 or whatever the limit is per item. Just thought I would give everyone a heads up so its not so much of a shock later on.

don't loose sleep over this, I haven't heard anything about the RR promos ending, and to the contrary........black friday has alot of RR promos, and I have seen several for the month of December. IMO I don't see the MIR coming back, I think RR are the way they are going

I have a questions about "fillers". Until recently he only reason I went to WAGS was to get cigs. I just started doing the RRs and was curious if cigs count as "fillers". In other words if I buy 2 packs of cigs so that I have equal number of coupons and items will this work. I know the RRs will not pay for cigs.

I do have one question - When you stock up on all these items......where do you put them all? My cabinets are overflowing already!!!!!! :)

Thanks for all this great info everyone!

Today I went to Wags in the morning and did the razor, chapstick and herbal essences deals and got all of the RRs. Then I went back this afternoon to get some different deals (my Wags is not usually nice about ringing up separate orders at once) and none of my RRs from the morning would scan. The cashier told me it was because I got them today so I used one from last week. She said I had to wait one business day before the RRs would be recognized and scan. Does that mean I can go at 12:01 tomorrow morning? Or do I have to wait 24 hours?

Seriously? I've never had a problem using RRs on the same day. There must have been a problem with their scanners. Are the RRs barcodes smeared or anything? There's one store in my area that still uses the old RR paper and it messes up the barcode all the time. I have to ask the cashiers to manually enter the barcode on those when I use them.

I'm glad you confirmed this for me. I just went along with her because I don't think I've ever tried to use ones from the same day before, and she seemed in earnest. (Some cashiers are just mean to couponers, and I'm always skeptical when they try to tell me anything that sounds fishy.) I went in this afternoon to use the same RRs and they still wouldn't scan. They weren't smudged or anything, so it must be their scanners. I got lucky and got "the nice cashier," as I call her, and she happily entered all of them manually.

Thanks again for the help!

If your store allows you to use more than one transaction, they shouldn't beep unless your subtotal goes below $20, as long as you have 10 items or more.

Today mom and i tried to buy fusion razor. She had the $4 q and that was all. She was going to roll the rr into the lotion deal. But to our surprise no rr printed for the razor. What happened? The cashier said if we pay for an item w/a coupon then a rr won't print. I just did this deal last week and it worked fine. Did something change? I was so upset b/c my mom was just starting to do my deals and now she says there is no way she will ever try that again. Should I call the rr people or am I just out of luck and this is how it is now?

you should get back the full purchase price. The coupon should not affect the return price. If you paid $12.99, you should get back $12.99

You shouldn't have any problems, since these are two different promotions and different values.

I have a few questions for the Walgreens experts. Sorry if this was covered already, but I don't have time right not to read 28 pages of questions and answers.....

1. I have $1 rr. May I use it on a .99 item? Several cashiers say no. I have a letter from corporate from a few years ago that says yes I can, just no money will be given back. I called the other day and the cs said no. I am confused. Did this rule change?

2. May I use 8 $1 RR to buy one $9 item? The wording on the RR is confusing. So, can I use multiple RR is one transaction?

3. May I use 8 $1 RR to buy 8 items totalling $8? If I have the same amount of coupons as items, will this work or is it one rr per purchase?

TIA!!!!

The answers to your questions are covered in the FAQs
1. From WAGs FAQ (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/walgreens/23-walgreens-faq-policy.html):
What happens if the Manufacturer coupon's value is more than the
retail value?
Walgreens does not provide cash back if a coupon is presented for more than the purchase value of the item (e.g., the customer is using the coupon to purchase a clearance item). If the retail of the item is less than the face value of the coupon:

• the coupon value shall be the retail value if the state requires taxes to be paid on that item,
• the coupon value shall be the retail value plus taxes if the state does not require taxes to be paid on the item.

2. From RR FAQ (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/walgreens-catalina-deals-register-rewards/43971-walgreens-catalina-register-rewards-faq.html):
Q: Can I use manufacturer coupons with a RR/Catalina OYNO coupon ?
A1: The register considers the RR a manf coupon. You cannot have more coupons than items. If you have coupons for every product you are buying, the RR will beep. So you'll need to throw in a filler item. Look for cheap stuff in the clearance section or get a pack of .30 gum (the manager should be able to make the RR go through but that's highly YMMV and not usually worth the hassle)

3. From RR FAQ (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/walgreens-catalina-deals-register-rewards/43971-walgreens-catalina-register-rewards-faq.html):
Q: Can I use more than 1 RR per order ?
A:Walgreens response to HCW on Feb 25, 08: You can use your Register Rewards but you can not have more coupons than you have items. It might be easier to ring up items in separate transactions, but please check with the store management. If you have further questions, please contact Walgreens Advertising Department at 847-914-2500.
NOTE: make sure you have equal number of manf coupons/RR and items. These are called "filler items". Inexpensive candy or gum are examples of fillers. Some stores will not allow you to use 2 or more of the same type of RR in one transaction. For example, not allowing two $10 P&G RR but do allow a $2, $4 and a $10 RR in one transaction. Again, please comply with the "one per order" as applicable.
TIP: you can use a 7-day or IVC on a filler item and should not count toward your total # of manf coupons used.

If you have coupons for the Sure, it is not a true filler. You have to equal or more items then you have manuf coupons.
If you use Sure coupons, you still need a filler.

I also highly doubt the Pert will roll into another Pert, but I know a select few RR are allowed to be rolled. I have not been in this forum for some time to know if the pert is one that rolls, but I highly doubt it.

I used 5 RR from the same deal just last night with no problems. As long as your store isn't one of the ones that will not let you use more than one RR of any type in one transaction, you will be fine. The fact that they are from the same deal should not matter at all.

Hmm. Interesting. I am not sure the FAQs are correct though! I called corporate and the customer service rep there told me Walgreens will not accept a $1 coupon for a .99 item. He said it was "coupon fraud" because they would receive $1 from the manufacturer. I told him every other store near me will manually put the coupon in for .99. He said that they will not do that. I wrote a letter to corporate. I got a call from the store manager instead of a corporate response and she said the same thing. I spent a half hour on the phone with her trying to explain how they are losing customers and sales over one penny. They will be reimbursed by the manu! Why refuse to move product off their shelves because of a one penny difference when there are things they can do to get around that (adjust the price of the item up one penny, manually adjust the coupon down a penny). She refused to budge.
But yet you are stating in the FAQs that corporate policy is to accept the coupon. Is this a known updated fact? Their policy USED to be to accept the coupons. I know because I have a lettter from corporate from 3 years ago stating just that. I was told that policy is old. Maybe time to update the facts?? Or maybe a mod can write to corporate, on behalf of hcw.com, and get the definitive version? Or it that not under the radar? This issue comes up all the time and has a big impact of all of us because all of their items are .99 or 1.99, and all the coupons are not. especially with RRs!!! For example, I have a boatload of $1 Halls RRs and a store full of .99 items. How frustrating!

I have a feeling I am being informed by WAG employees who just don't know.

I really want to get to the bottom of this.

The last time I spoke with customer relations, about a month ago, I was told that many times the supervisors or am's may not have all the program info and suggested to just deal directly with the Store Manager, which I will be doing tomorrow (Monday). Only having done this a few months, I'd like a verification on some information before talking with him, please.

Tonight, my $5 Almay mascara RR printed but the $10 foundation RR did not. Other items included 3 Lubriderm with $8 RR and the Robitussin with no RR, 2 papers and ice cream. The only coupon I used was the $5 off $25. When questioned, the AM didn't know about it being a month long promotion. In fact, the only way he knew about it at all was because it was printing last week for the sale. Anyway, he said the sale was over, there was no mention in the ad, he had no signs for it, and had no explanation why the mascara would print, so he couldn't do anything. :rolleyes24:

1) The foundation was on "clearance" for $3.49, (no indication of that except on the register) so of course i'm thinking SCORE! It was the same one I had just bought the day before and also earlier this morning at another location. It is my understanding from a number of online resources that even a "clearance" price on the right item shouldn't affect the RR. Is that correct?

2) When asked how I know what the promotions are without an ad and why I think it's a current promotion with no in-store sign, how do I answer? Yes, I know it's promoted on a number of similar sites, but I don't think they would consider that an official channel worthy of note. Go figure. :wink7: Where do the lists come from, is it something anyone can access? Are there differences between regions?

3) Any other issues I should bring up?

Any help would be appreciated. :thanks7:

you will have to add enough stuff to bring the total up to 5.99. so you will need another 2.50 of merchandise to use the RR.

I am not sure if this has been asked or not, but I can't find it....
I have not done Walgreens in a long time, so I am not sure how it works... but, I don't see any limits in the ad scans, so I am wondering if there is a limit to how many times you can get the same RR? For instance, could I repeatedly go into walgreens and buy the $2 goody hairbands and get the $2 RR every time as long as I didn't use the RR from them on the same item?

I believe that I have seen it posted on here that this is a YMMV....the store managers have the right to set a limit if they wish. (I believe that is what irishlass said before).

If you have more than one store around it would be better to get a few at one and a few more at another so you are not clearing the shelves or drawing a lot of attention to yourself as to get the limit set.

Make sense? HTH! :wavehi:

Thanks! So, It looks like there isn't an exact limit that will make the RR stop printing, you just don't want to have a hassle with the store, and then they make limits.

yes you can.
The only thing you can't do is use the $1 RR from the kisses to buy more Hersheys and get a RR.
as long as the RR are from different promotions.....you can use them.

I have several of the $5 Walgreens Holiday Rewards form this week. I could not use them in a transaction to get another $5 Holiday Reward, but wondered if I do a seperate transaction for the neutrogena for example, would I still get the register rewards on that item? I guess what I am asking is can I roll the holiday rewards at all? Has anyone done this?

Thanks!

Yes, you can use them like that. You can pay for a item that produces a RR with that $5 Holiday Reward

"roll" HIGHLY doubt it.

But you can do any of these

Transaction #1

3 phazyme 4.99 x 3= 14.97
complete contact solution $7.99
= $22.96

- $10/3 mq for phazyme/ecotrin
- $1mq complete
- $6 ivc q for phazyme /dec wags q book ( $2 off each)

=5.96

use $5HDRR pay $.96 oop
get back and $8 rr

Transaction #2

Rolaids 2 @ $4.49= 8.98
use $4 mq=
$4.98 Need a small filler
use $5 HDRR
pay for the filler
get back
$5rr

Transaction #3
dulcolax $7
-3mq on bottle
=4 add $1 worth of filler
pay with $5rr
get $4 rr back and send in for rebate, if you haven't already :wink7:

repeat as needed, the ypou will have rr dated out two weeks that you can stack and use on this weeks HDRR deals

I want to comment on this, as my store just informed me that Walgreens is no longer allowing us to use ANY RR in a transaction that will produce ANY RR...regardless of the manufacturer, etc. I called corporate a few minutes ago, and they confirmed that very thing. HUH?? I'm so confused now. I asked if I could load up the transaction with other items totalling way more than the RR and also throw in an item (again of a different maker) that will produce another RR, and she said it wouldn't/shouldn't print one out...even if it is a different manufacturer. Now I'm loaded with all these RRs from last week with not a thing I'd like to buy. Anything I'm remotely interested in produces RRs, so I don't know how to use my current stash of RRs! Maybe they would print out anyway, but I'm a little scared of trying and then losing the RRs I already have when the other RRs don't even print out. They have got to get rid of this ridiculous system. Thoughts anyone? I can't be the only one who has encountered this.:shrug7:

um, yeah, NO!!!
They will print unless they have turned the machine off.
However I would talk to the DM, assuming you have already talked to the SM.
And I would drive to another wags.
They are not alloed to keep your rr afte they have printed. I have heard of that happening, only like three times in 2 years though~
go up the food chain, just keep reading them the rr, and their ad.

either the rr or the ad states "just like cash" oyno

so if cash allows the use then why not a rr, they are just like cash?
they are not following the coupon allowances, thus committing the "fruad" word etc etc etc...

good luck JEN

Well I encountered at my store that you can't use more than one RR in an order even if you have OOP that is more than just paying the tax. Tried to do 2 orders, neither of which generated another RR, $1.99 sugar in fact and a dog blanket so my pit will stop stealing my husband's blanket! Gave them 2 RR and still had OOP and the 1st one went through and the 2nd one beeped! mind you I still had $2 plus whatever tax was needed for the total still to pay if I would have been able to use the 2nd RR. So it looks like no more trips to Wags for me...now how am I gonna use the $30 worth I have?!! And as u can see I haven't been running all over taking advantage of the deals...just trying to get a few items to get through the week and put in stocking stuffers for the kids!! :hectic1:

shaystr your store maybe different so atleast go in your store with a couple scenarios just in case!! I was planning on buying the blanket and the sugar anyways...just can't understand why they give you RR's and u can't spend them the way you want? I understand not being able to use on alcohol (sp?), stamps, gc and dairy and the like, but not to be able to use in a transaction that still would have meant I had OOP doesn't make sense, JMHO.

Question. My Publix accepted my RR and entered it as a Vendor coupon this past week. i went to the service counter and asked and they accepted...

Will Publix be reimbursed from the manufacturer? Or would just be a loss/ex. a store coupon?

The wags supervisor told me that Wags lost money when i used the RR at Publix because the rr says on your next order..

Just wondering...

ALSO the super told me that they couldn't accept the Target Manufacturer coupon with the Target logo (printable). She sad Target would get the reimbursement and not walgreens.. We had a friendly discussion about t and she sad she would thin about t.
Personally me believe that Wags will get reimbursed. its the same address on their for kimberly Clark on their regular Huggies manu diaper coupons.

PLEASE PARDON any spelling errors. The letter i, k, the number 8 and the comma key are broken on my keyboard :)

Not sure if the stores will get reinbursed for the Wag RR, I am not really sure if there is a way to find out :shrug7:
If your store accepts them great for you........but since they are put out by walgreens as a incentive to get shoppers in their store...no discussion of that here in the Walgreen Forums, however I do believe they allow discussion of that in the Publix Forums.

On the mfg coupons with the target red dots on them.....this week was the first time I have seen them as well.......my store turned them down because we really didn't know what they were. Now that we know that they are mfg coupons, I am sure my Manager will now accept them. I think those coupons with the target red dots threw us because we have seen the ones in the inserts that are not mfg coupons.
I think those coupons are going to be a YMMV, because of those red dots on them.

Question on Walgreens policies:

I had a bad experience today in Walgreens and it was probably partly due to my ignorance of their policies, but also partly due to an extremely rude employee that didn't care to take the time to explain anything. I wanted to buy the pampers 2/20, use 2 $2 mf coupon, and pay with my register rewards from previous purchases (which by the way, expire within 2 weeks of purchase, that seems short). The clerk told me I couldn't use the register rewards on the diapers because I was using a mf coupon, so I had to buy one filler item for each reward ticket. I apologize for this lengthy post, could someone point me to an explanation of their rules? Thanks!

In the Walgreens system RR's count as manufacturer coupons and you can't have more manufacturer coupons than items... so to use 2 coupons and 2 RR's on 2 packages of diapers you would need 2 fillers.. :giggle2: there's usually something inexpensive you can pick up, pencils are often 8/$1 so grab 2 or travel packs of kleenex... just something small to absorb the RR's so they will go through.

Hope that helps.. and I didn't confuse you further.. LOL.

yes, thank you for taking the time to reply! I just wish their employees would have taken the time to explain and been a little friendlier. Also, it is a little frustrating that they advertise the RR's as though they are 'cash', but so it is and now I know, thanks again!

I just came back from Walgreens, and I am so disappointed...
I bought:
Electrasol (used $2.50 off coupon), $1RR did not print.
2 centrums (used 2 $3 off coupons), $3RR did not print.
2 clorox wipes (no Qs), $1RR did not print.
I bought other things (salt, gum), paid almost $20 OOP.
Manager tried to help, but I ended walking out of there without my $5 RR
I once read somewhere that there's a number I could call and they would send me my RR. Does anyone know anything about that?
Thank you!

If the signage says that the promo ends 1/24, you should still get the RR today. If it doesn't print, you should be able to get your RR from Catalina or assistance from the SM, as long as the signs are still up.

Why do I feel like I am robbing Walgreens by gun point everytime I go in there trying to use their register rewards and coupons? I always have an issue. Please help me understand. Okay this is what I did today. Walgreens #1 - bought two bottles of Pert. The ad states 2/$5 = $2 RR = 2/$3. I brought in two MF coupons for $1.50 off each bottle. The girl only took off one coupon. She said I'm sorry, you can use your coupon another day. AHH....NO. I want the $1.50 off now. So Mr. Manager ended up giving me back $1.50. Smart cashier ripped up the $2 RR - I was like ahh....no. That is the deal, I get $2 RR. So Mr. Manager had to ring a fake transition to get the $2 RR. Left that store with my $1.50 cash and $2 RR. Went to Walgreens #2 and this is where I need help. I bought 5 bags of Chex Mix. On sale for $.99. I had my $2 RR; 1 MF $.50 off one and 2 MF $50 of two. Should have been $.99 x 5 = $4.95 - $2 RR and $1.50 for my MF. Cashier rang up the MF first and then the computer would not take the $2 RR. She tried to hand it back to me I was like no I rather have back my $.50 and you use the $2 RR and she did. I got a great deal but where did I go wrong. How does the RR work, I had 3MF 1RR and 5 items.. Please help me. Thanks. ~michelle

Mikki 316
01-27-2010, 02:13:35 PM
Michelle, sometimes the x/2 coupons attach to both items, so rather than only counting as one Q, they count as 2. It all depends on how they are coded. If this happens again, try adding a filler item to see if another Q will scan.

You should receive the full value back. That said, YMMV. You could get a SM or a cashier who is clueless and will try to give you a hard time. My advise? If they give you grief, insist that they give you the amount of the RR back on a W card (store credit). RRs/MQs are a form of payment, just as cash, debit, etc. As long as this doesn't become a habit, you shouldn't have any problems. We hear horror stories about people buying things for the RR, and returning the items, so lots of SMs are wary. Let us know how it turns out.

ok...I keep seeing how people are buying these in multiples! I dont get how this is helping you get ahead. This week there was one for 14.99 with a rebate making it free and all but what do you do with it afterwards? Its not like its a consumable item. My son is diabetic and we already have several of these that we got free from the manufacturer. Am I missing something here?

This week, there is a $10 RR when you buy a Contour meter. There are MQs out that are valued at up to $30 from, I think, October inserts. So, these will be free + a $10 RR for each one. (Taxable in some states).
Many people donate the meters to various agencies or share with friends/relatives.

Yes, that's it exactly! You pay only tax (well, some people don't even have tax since it's a medical item!) and then get a $10rr back!

When the coupons came out this last time I bought 40 papers b/c these are always a moneymaker at some point. Definnitely worth stocking up when they're out. Before I started couponing I always threw these coupons out thinking I would never use them. Man, how much money I tossed!

It's definitely not a WAG policy. If that were true, RRs would be such a hot topic on the Coupon sites. MQ use will not affect whether or not a RR prints in 99.9% of situations. I've seen only one time when the MQ and the RR had the same UPC and cancelled the RR printing because it seemed to the computer/register/catalina machine that we were using a RR from the same promo.
Welcome to HCW, by the way, and to the WAG forum!

It depends on the laws in your state, as to whether dairy is excluded from coupon/RR use. Dairy isn't excluded where I live, but ice cream is considered dairy.

Not sure if this has been asked...so I apologize if it has...This morning I got 2 $4RR...one from the $4 Dove hair care and the other from the 2/$12 Dove body washes etc. Can I use a MQ with a RR on my next purchase as long as the overage of another item is enough to cover the MQ?

For example:
$4 Dove hair care -1.50 MQ= 2.50- $4RR= $-1.50

So if I put a filler for around $1.50 I should be able to use the MQ? Please correct me if I am wrong! Thanks so much!:shrug7:

Yes, that will work. You will have to purchase a filler anyway, since you're using 2 coupons for one item. Just grab something that is not attached to a MQ (you can use something that requires an in-ad coupon though). I've been using the Dentek floss as my filler with no Q, paying .50 and getting a $2 RR for the floss + $4 RR for Dove hair care.

For example:

Total: $17-3($4RR)= $5 plus tax

But because I have three items, I can use all of the RR?

As long as those 3 $4RR are not from the same promotion you can do this. For instance, if they are all from the Dove shampoo/copnditioner RR you will only be able to use one of them. If they are from 3 different product promotions, you will be fine.

Actually, you can use multiples of the same RR as long as your store doesn't restrict it for some reason.

Sorry for the length of this post but I'm really new to couponing and I have a question . . .

I love the deals at Walgreens, especially the RRs but I never seem to get them like the ad states. Today, I went to Walgreens and here's what I bought:

1 Colgate Renewal Toothpaste - on sale and I used $1.00 mfg coupon
1 Sudafed Mist - on sale and I used $5/2 mfg coupon
1 Sudafed PE - see above
2 BAN deodorant - purchased 2 using WAG coupon and 2 mfg coupons
1 Miracle Grow potting soil - on sale - no coupon
1 Cottonelle toilet paper - on sale and used $1.00 WAG coupon and $1.00 mfg coupon

My receipt shows 7 items purchased and 7 coupons.

The Colgate TP had a $2.00 RR and the Sudafed was buy 2 and get a $5.00 RR.

I received the $2.00 RR for the toothpast but not the $5.00 for the Sudafed. When I asked the customer svc rep about it, she acted like I was speaking a foreign language and said she didn't know. I asked for the manager and he was "unavailable."

I made sure I had at least the same amount of items as coupons. What did I do wrong????:shrug7:

Thanks for your help!!

Hi, Today I bought 3 bottles of Centrum vitamins for a total of $21. I then used 3 $3 coupons and paid $12. The ad had buy $20, get $10, Buy $10 get $5. I received no RR's. The manager stated that the coupons cancelled out the RR. Is this correct? So to receive RR's the final amount should be $20? Thanks in advance.
When the ad says buy a certian amount like buy 20.00 get 5.00. No matter what the total of your bill has to be 20.00 after all RR or coupons not including tax. No RR rewards will print if it is NOT 20.00

One of the nice things about Walgreens RR deals is that the total of the items purchased on a deal that is "Buy $20, get $5 RR" or something like that is that the total of the items purchased has to be $20 before coupons and before tax. You can use coupons and other RR to reduce your total out of pocket spent as long as the RRs you use aren't from the same promotion.

Sometimes Walgreens will run a promotion where they offer a store $5 RR for spending $25 and there will be fine print that says that the total must be reached after coupons. The most recent one was the Holiday Rewards, I think. But, for the regular manufacturer RRs, the total is before coupons. :BigHand:

I am a manager at a Walgreens, and may have some insight to offer. I apologize in advance for the long post.

First, please understand that walgreens only funds the register rewards that do not specifically state another company. The rest we are reimbursed for by the manufacturers. Many managers, however, do not understand that. I have spent time on the phone with the Catalina Coupon Company to ensure this is the case. The majority of register rewards fall under the manufacturer reimbursement. Occasionally, we will put out rewards that we ourselves fund, however, these are typically on products that are not national brands, and typically promotional products for which we have received a great cost. It is not always the case, but the Walgreen company is not losing money overall, as all this is planned by corporate. This is not so easily understood from the store side. We have entered a new era where coupons are a much larger percentage of our sales overall.

Second, please be understanding if a register reward does not print immediately. There are still glitches in the system, and often managers are not aware of all the items are supposed to produce such coupons. There are many throughout the store, and only one out of the four managers at a typical store will have hung the tags outlining the deals. I personally do everything in my power to make sure that proper rewards print at the store location. The last thing I want is a customer to walk away unhappy.

Third, here are the tools at my disposal to make sure you receive your coupons:
1. Try a clean transaction at multiple registers (If it doesn't work at 2 or 3, it's not working for the store)
2. Try resetting the registers (a very time-consuming procedure that rarely fixes the problem)
3. Offer a mail-in form to the catalina company. It's not ideal, but in some cases where the customers have been understanding, I've been kind enough to offer a stamped envelope as well.

I hope this gives some insight from the other side of this equation. We are not the enemy, I promise, and want to work with our customers to find the solutions. Some may not fit this, but as a company, Walgreens is on your side and will do all it can to help. God bless you all and good luck in your efforts to save money!

I tried to buy soda with my RR today:

3 pepsi 12 pk
1 stayfree
1 dental picks
1 pkg schick titanium 3 pk's
1 pkg sweetarts

total before coupons was $27.97 + tax, including the $3.60 bottle deposit
The cashier took off my coupons for:
$2 stayfree
$4 on any schick titanium razor (peelie)
$10.00 RR
$10.00 RR

but the last RR didn't take, we tried to add more sweetarts but still wouldn't accept. Then the guy thought it was the bottle deposit and said the RR can't go toward the bottle deposit. Anyone else??

Yea but I would have had to add $3.60 in fillers to cover my bottle deposits.

I have read people say they are able to,
but the RR reads no 'dairy'.
So what does Walgreen's consider 'dairy'?

If you RR states that dairy is a prohibited/excluded item, then no. Some states have regulations that do not allow coupons to be used for dairy products (eggs, cheese, milk, etc), so the RR is not be to used for dairy in those states.

The P&G Register Rewards have special wording on them that state that they cannot be used to purchase P&G products. So, it would not be following the wording on the coupon to try use a Gillette RR to purchase the Pampers. I have no idea why P&G has that wording, but that is how it is worded. Sorry. Thanks for asking.

Hi, I just got back from walgreens from buying the John Frieda deal which was buy 3 get 5RR. I've used three MF coupons plus one 5RR from last week Lustre 7 toothpaste deal. But when I ask for the JF 5RR coupons which didn't seem have printed, the cashier said that because I used my previous RR that I won't get the JF 5RR back.

Is it a new policy starting this week because last week i'd use 8RR and got still got back about 15RR?

Register Rewards don't print out for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes the machine is just down. It looks like the Lustre is made by Lustre Premium Whitening, so I don't think that was the problem.

Whenever I have a problem with a RR not printing, I ask that the transaction be voided and have them try to ring the transaction up without the coupons to see if it prints. If it doesn't then there is either something wrong with the product I purchased or the machine itself. So, to rule out the machine I will try to have it rung up at a different register. 99% of the time when I can get it to print without the coupons they will rering it and the RR will print then. Sometimes my managers like to try to ring a completely different product that they know should print a RR and see if it prints.

I would take the products back and see if you can fix the problem at the store.

Thank you for the response, I wish I know this then so i could fix it right away with other options. but the response I got, from both cashier, really made me thought that it was their new policy of not printing out RR if you had use your previous RR.
I couldn't very well argue since there were two long lines as well as having both of them confirming the same thing.

It can be tough when there are a lot of people waiting and there is a problem. What I do in that case is tell them that I have a question, but will wait while they check everyone else out. I just step to the side and wait patiently until there is no line. The cashiers/managers usually appreciate it and I like being able to talk with them without a bunch of impatient people waiting behind me.

I have a question about returning an item I used a register reward for. I purchased 4 items for a total of $14, then used two register rewards to pay worth $6 each. My total came to around $3.50. I want to return one of the items. How does this work? Will I not be able to return it because I paid with register rewards?

I have returned an item that I used an MQ with and received a full price refund, but I'm not sure how this would work with RR's.

Has anyone else done this before?

A couple of times I’ve had to return an item on which I used RRs and had low OOP on my receipt. The manager gave me the full value of my return on a “W” card. Looks like a gift card, red with a big W on it. And it works like a gift card, but has a few more restrictions. But it's more flexible than RRs and does not expire!

The Register Rewards are manufacturers coupons and as long as you have one coupon per item and follow all the other rules, you should be good no matter what order you give them in. Some stores either require or prefer them to be given in one order or the other for some reason, but you should be fine either way.

The only reason it would really matter is if your subtotal will be less than the amount of the RR after you start using coupons. If that's the case, give your RR first to ensure that you're able to use it. I'd much rather use a high value RR than a smaller coupon. HTH.

Hi. I had a question about a transaction from this past Sunday. I bought six items, including the blistex lip balm and socks that should have printed register rewards. I used one coupon and one register reward. My oop was $2.47. The register rewards did not print out for the lip balm and socks. I asked about that, and the cashier called the manager over to find out why. The manager said that my oop was less than the RR and that's why nothing printed out. Is this correct? The oop has to be more than the RR?

Thanks in advance. I hope this made sense :)

Sorry if this has been covered in better detail somewhere, but I have only been able to find vague references to there being some sort of rule, but no actual explanation.

I think I know that we cannot use a RR generated on a particular deal to generate another RR for the same deal; for example, I cannot purchase a Gillette razor this week to receive the $5 RR, then turn around and purchase another but pay some of my OOP with that RR if I want to get the RR again. Correct? Seems logical enough.

I have seen some reference, however, to not being able to use a RR generated by one manufacturer to get a RR on a different deal when the two products share a manufacturer. So, is it correct that I also cannot use my hypothetical $5 Gillette RR on, say, a Febreeze or Crest RR deal without forfeiting the RR for the new deal?

I hope that makes sense outside of my head....and if this is the case, is it only one manufacturer RR per week/reward period?

cbgo
06-29-2010, 10:50:47 PM
Your question makes perfect sense. I hope my answer doesn't complicate things more for you.

All P&G RRs have special wording on them that say that they cannot be used to purchase other P&G products. So, according to the wording on the coupon, you could not use a Febreeze RR to buy a Gillette product.

If you are talking about another manufacturer whose RRs do not have that restriction then it is sometimes okay and sometimes not. If you had a $5 Skippy RR (made by Unilever) and wanted to buy Dove (also made by Unilever) that would generate a $4 RR then they would be two totally different deals and it would usually work. If they were for the same amount then it would depend on how the RR was programmed. There is usually no way of knowing before the sale starts, but someone will almost always post here and let us know if it will work. If you have a question about a particular deal you can ask in that week's deal thread and someone should be able to answer your question. HTH.

Most stores will write you a raincheck for the sale price only. They can't make the RR print after the sale is over.
There have been a few folks say their store will write it for free, but unfortunately very few will do that.

i had a question regarding how many rr could you use per transaction. I dont shop at walgreens much because of the hassle regarding rr and coupons. Anyways, I went today to buy the gillete profusion. I had 2 rr i was going to use, 1 was for buying pepsi and the other was for the aussie in the previous week. Well the cashier went to scan the rr and the computer kept beeping on the second one only allowing me to use 1 rr on the transaction. This was not the case a couple of months ago so have they changed there policy regarding the rr?

RR count as coupons. At Walgreens you can't have more coupons than items. If you were buying the Fusion razor with no manufacturer's coupons then you can use 1 RR unless you have a filler for each rr more than one. If you were trying to buy it with a manufacturer's coupon you would not be able to use any RR unless you had small filler items in your order as well. So basically you had more coupons than items and that's why the register beeped and wouldn't take the second rr.

you will always get a register reward with any coupon except of the same register reward you got from (as in the same items you bought) sounds confusing but it is the best way I can explain it. most managers don't know that~ there must be some sort of bug in their system or the one you bought was excluded. try another store and have them void the whole transaction, if the same thing occurs, you will need to most likely contact 800-walgreens

Catalina playtex question...I have 2 of the free boxes cats from the Kotex deal...Do you think this would work?

$11.97 - 3 boxes of tampons
- 3.00 - IVC for $1 off
- 3.99 - Free Playtex Cat for 1st box
- 3.99 - Free Playtex Cat for 2nd box
- 1.00 - MF Q for the 3rd box
+ .25 - cheap filler
= $0.24 plus tax

Just curious. I have never used a Free Item Q/Cat with the IVC before! Thanks!!!

You should be able to use both the IVC and your coupons. However, be prepared for the cashier to freak out over it. The kicker is, that when the IVC is scanned, it will automatically take off for 3 items ($3), but if the cashier notices it, s/he might freak out a little bit. Nothing wrong with doing it, but they might have just had a loss prevention session and be terrified they're doing something wrong. My advise is just to make sure this is part of a larger transaction to prevent the headaches and the arguments.
Also, check the price limits on your cat Qs. They might be limited to an amount less than $3.99, which is usually the case.

The other day, I received the following Catalina q at the conclusion of my purchase: "FREE walgreens brand contact lens care 4oz (up to $1.80)". Yesterday, when I was in the store again, I went to get my free product, only to find that the 4oz bottle of walgreens brand contact lens care retails for $4.49, so $1.80 isn't even half off...and absolulutely wouldn't make the item free as promised in large bold font (the "up to $1.80 is MUCH smaller and down at the bottom). When I politely pointed the discrepancy out to the asst. manager, she said "yep, you're right...I can only give you $1.80 off." and walked away. So much for customer service! :sigh2:

I have to say I am pretty irritated by it. It doesn't seem right or legal for them to advertise something for free if it is really only about 1/3 off. Tell me it is a $1.80 off coupon...I will be fine with that.

So now I'm wondering what the best way to handle this is? Has anyone else had this happen? Any input would be really appreciated.

oh, by the way, at the very top it has the expiration date of 12/4/10 and says "store coupon".

Thanks in advance! :thanks7:

I've noticed that sometimes there are HUGE price differences in certain stores. My family was just on a vacation and we stopped in a Walgreens while we were there and some of the prices were much higher than in our "normal" store. Maybe you could try a different store and see if there is a difference there (or maybe even just a different (ie more helpful) management?)...

Catalina coupons stating "free" always have a maximum value included on them. We just usually wait for the product to go on sale to use them. Keep an eye on the weekly ads and most likely, you'll find the item on sale for the maximum price allowed before it expires. Many times, it's just sneak peek of a sale coming up.
Also, if you look at insert Qs with "free" you will also usually find a maximum price allowed as well.
As for what you can do about it, I can't really answer that. I just see that as a normal part of couponing. :dontknow1:

:thanks7:

Yeah, at times I get aggravated at Wags too:biggrin:; I got the same "free Wags brand contact lens solution, 4 oz", except mine was up to $5.49 value, go figger that one out! I don't think it's against any laws (except common sense) since the "free up to _____" is common wording on q's, but of course it wouldn't really be free. It's not like a "bait & switch" deal, just kinda senseless to me. It would be interesting for you to contact corporate just to see how Wags could expect you to get it for free with that cat having a limited value. I would think they'd give it to you for free, just to keep a cust happy (but we are talking about Wags here:rolleyes24:). I don't even know why my free cat spit out, I didn't buy any eye type stuff on the transaction.

Thanks to all who gave input! Ubankit: Not fair that yours says "up to $5.49" - how come I didn't rate!!?? :-)

I will try another store and if that doesn't work, I'll wait to see if it goes on sale. I know that "free, up to _________" is common, but the stated amount is generally somewhere close to normal retail price; a third of retail is pretty pathetic and very misleading to me. If this becomes a trend, we'll have "free Tide, up to $1.00 off" or free Pampers, up to $2.00 off, etc, etc. The principle of the thing just seems so wrong.

Alrighty.... I have read through all of this particular Walgreens RR?Cat Q questions thread and I still have these particular questions. If they are somewhere else, please just point me there!

1. Say I have 4 items in my cart. One is a P&G item that is on a promo and the ad tells me it will print me a RR.

I have my q's and I have a RR to use to pay. My RR happens to be from a previous transaction that printed out from a P&G item promotion.

My question is, in the transaction of 5 items (including the P&G item), can I use that previous P&G RR to pay into that transaction and my new P&G RR still print out? (Yes, it is a completely different P&G item, diff week, diff promotion). I don't consider it rolling, I consider it wanting to use it before it expires.

Should I just do 2 diff transactions??

2. Diff transaction now.... and I have 4 items, 3 of them P&G with promotions each (all of the items ARE diff, like a Venus, Olay and Pantene) and the 4th item is, say, Dial. Each item is supposed to produce 2 RR each, so at the end of the tranny I should have a total of $8 in RR.

Is it OK to do this all in the same transaction? Will I get all 4 RR?

Is it ever OK to have say 2 Pantene that produces 2 RR each and something else that produces their own RR and each item will print it out? (Say 3 for this scenario??)

3. How the heck can I tell if I am taxed pre coupon or post coupon?? I have looked on the receipts and to be honest, they give me a headache because there is so much info on there and I am horrible with numbers, even just reading them :sad22:

:thanks7: in advance to any and all who respond! Have a great night!

You will need to do 2 different transactions. I know this is a pain, but the wording on the P&G RR specifically states that it is not to be used to purchase P&G products. Posting anything to the contrary is not allowed on HCW and is seen as misuse of the coupon (RR) and a violation of the terms of service and could result in infraction points, which could affect one's membership here.

IF the three items are different promotions, then you will get all three P&G RRs for that transaction, and the one Dial RR. If however, those three items are included in the same promo, you will only get one RR per transaction.

Is it ever OK to have say 2 Pantene that produces 2 RR each and something else that produces their own RR and each item will print it out? (Say 3 for this scenario??)

If the Pantene promo is buy 1 and get a $2 RR, then you will only get one $2 Pantene RR per transaction, whether you buy 1 or 20 bottles of Pantene.

3. How the heck can I tell if I am taxed pre coupon or post coupon?? I have looked on the receipts and to be honest, they give me a headache because there is so much info on there and I am horrible with numbers, even just reading them :sad22:

That depends on your State's tax laws. The easiest way to check on your receipts is to buy one item with a Q (easiest is to get an item that is free after Q) and if you have 0 tax/oop, then you're taxed post Q. If you have to pay tax on the price of the item before Q, thus having an oop, then you're taxed pre-Q.
:thanks7: in advance to any and all who respond! Have a great night!

Hope that answers your questions. If not, reply to the post and we'll try to help.

Please do not post about "rolling" the P&G Catalina coupon on more P&G products.
Many stores are running Catalina & Register Reward (RR) promotions this week and I would like to remind our members to please read the small print on these Catalina coupons. If the Catalina coupons say something to the effect about "Not valid on P&G products" we ask that all members refrain from posting about rolling these Catalina coupons onto more P&G products.

Rolling means that you purchase items that result in a Catalina coupon and you take that Catalina coupon and use it on your next order of products and receive another of the same kind of Catalina coupon.

Again... we are asking that you refrain from posting about rolling the P&G Catalina coupons if the wording on the Catalina's prohibit the use. Even if your cashier or store manager gives you the OK just keep that to yourself. We want to encourage use of the promotions as outlined by the wording on the coupon.

Thank you,
Heidi (QOTH)

P.S. - Posts that discuss rolling the P&G Catalina coupons are subject to the warning & infraction system. We hate to do it... so please don't post about it.

You will have to call Catalina Marketing. Have your receipt ready, they will ask for information from the receipt. You can find the phone number in the FAQ thread here in the WAG forum. They will mail it to you, which could take some time. Personally, since you might not receive it before expiration, I'd try to ask the Store Manager to fix it first. Good luck!

Friendly reminder:

Q: Can I use my RR or IVCs at other stores ?
A: Walgreen's RR's should only be used at Walgreen's, unless your store has a policy that allows them to be accepted as competitor coupons. If you have a store that allows the use of IVCs or RRs as competitor's coupons, please do not post about it in the WAG forum. Check the rules of posting in that particular store's forum to determine whether discussion is allowed there.

I did that deal a number of times this week and had to buy $15 or more (Ragu, Skippy, Hellmans, Lipton) to get the $5RR. The Ragu are 2 for $3 so you would need to buy 10 to get to $15. Since I had some Ragu coupons I was not sure if the $15 is before coupons or after so I bought one Hellmans mayo to make sure I had enough. I asked the store manager and he told me that the $15 was AFTER coupons -- I don't think that is right but that what he said.

You live in a test pilot area. I don't get those ads at all, so I only post the ones I have access to. But, when I post the link to the WAG site with the weekly ad preview, you can enter your zip code to get the ad specific to your area. That's usually on Friday morning.

Hi,
The $15.00 in coupons did not print out, even though I did buy over $15.00 in the Coke & Planters items required (page 4 of the ad).

The manager tried to figure out what went wrong & said he would do some research and call me. When he did, he said I needed to come back to the store, pick up a form & send it in along with my cash reg. receipt.
Please tell me there is an easier solution to this!
Thanks in advance,

You could call Catalina Marketing. You would have to wait 24 hours so they can get the info pulled up, and you'll need your receipt to give them information from it. They will mail your coupons.

Q: My RR/Catalina didn't print. What do I do ?
A1: The store will give you a form to fill out and mail in to catalina
A2: 1-888-8coupon, option 3
A3: use the online form: Contact | Catalina Marketing (http://www.catalinamarketing.com/contact/)

The only other solution is to return the items and purchase them again to see if the coupons will print. Of course, the SM could have just done that in the first place.

Gift Cards are specifically excluded per the wording of the RR. Regardless of how one tries to justify it, it is still wrong.

On Saturday 4/2, I took my daughter to Walgreens to pick out a bunch of travel sizes to donate at her Sunday School class for homeless children. She picked a lot and I didn't want to interfere too much so it was really her deciding what a homeless child would want and need. Bought $25 worth of stuff! Lots of Colgate and Crest toothpaste, Olay shampoo, some Little Kitty and just plain Band Aids, a no-name toothbrush, Noxema face wash, a little manicure set, a folding brush and without the receipt nearby, I don't know what all. I thought that surely in all that stuff, I'd hit $10 in something that "qualified" for the $3 RR, but I didn't get it. I doubt the manicure set and brush counted, but was that offer limited to exactly what was in the picture in the ad?

If I am starting out with NO Register Rewards to apply to my order, can I in one transaction purchase different items from one manufacturer that will print separate Register Rewards and have them all actually print? Just as an example, let's say there is $1 RR back on Pampers and $1 RR back on Dawn-- since they are both made by P&G, would they both print out? How about two of the same RR-qualifying product in one transaction, like two pkgs of Pampers? Would it print two RR's, or just one?

Thanks so much--it has obviously been a very long time since I couponed hard at Walgreens! :)

:wavehi:
In your first scenario, where you purchase two different items that each qualify for RR’s, yes, both RR’s would print. Doesn’t matter if the products are by the same manufacturer. (I often purchase multiple RR-producing products in a single transaction.)

In the second, where you purchase two of an item that qualifies for a Register Reward, you would get only one RR, not two. It’s best to do two transactions to maximize the return on your $$ in this case!

You will have to use the RR on your next transaction. You will not receive your RR(s) until your transaction is complete.

I hate that we dont get the same ad but we get alot of the same deals. It is really hard to get the store to listen when it is not in the ad. LOL Thanks for all the help. My husband was laid off for almost 2 yrs and we are just starting to run out of stock. He is back to work now but I want to make sure I get as much as we can so we are ready if it happens again. I also like to help out people are get in that situation and need every penny for food. :)

I went to the store for the same Gillette deal today. They are out of stock, ALREADY!! I ran into the same issue with their deals from last week on the Tide Stain Release, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers and Bic razors. I got rain checks for the items last week, but still have not restocked these items! Because of this problem, I've lost all chance at the Register Rewards. Does anyone else have a problem with their stores not restocking their shelves before the sale is over??? Is there a way around this or is it just because I don't do my shopping early enough?

I have to go on Sunday or they usually run out of the hot stuff. I think it's ridiculous on the 2nd day of the sale to be out of items. Plus from what I'm hearing it's happening everywhere due to the Extreme Couponing show.

The manager at my store is ordering things in for me. Last week I called to late so this is the first week I will know if he actually got all the stuff. He said 20 of each item is all he is willing to do right now. I will let everyone know on friday how it turns out.

I was wondering about the "filler" concept. Does it help you use the RR on the same transaction or is it for a second transaction?

Mikki 316
05-14-2011, 08:13:51 PM
You have to use the RR on your next transaction after you receive it. You would need a filler item, if you were using a RR and a MQ on an item. You may use one MQ and a WAG Q per item purchased. RRs are considered MQs, so to use both, you would need a filler item.

Well, no need to let this post go to waste. I do actually have an RR related question. I went to Walgreen's tonight, verified that I could take advantage of both this weeks and next weeks sales, and proceeded to buy the Pro Clinical White toothpaste with the buy 2 for $6.00 and get $4.00 RR back. I used two coupons for .75/1, but didn't receive my RR! Of course, since I wouldn't have bought the toothpaste without the RR, I asked about it. The cashier was very nice, double-checked tomorrow's ad and called the manager. He was also very nice and, since no RR came out, he gave me back $4.00. Actually, I realized later that he gave me back $4.00 plus tax, which he didn't even owe me. Anyway, I was very appreciative. But his explanation for why it happened is that I used the two coupons. He said I needed to pay $6.00 after coupons for the RR to print. I told him that wasn't right...I had done a similar deal with Pantene earlier in the week and I still got my RR (the 2/$7.00 using the $3.00/2 coupon). I didn't argue since he was being so accommodating. What's better than getting an RR than getting actual cash back anyway, right? I thought maybe the Catalina wasn't programmed for honoring the deal on Saturday night, when the deal officially starts Sunday, but he said that wasn't it.

Any thoughts? Is he right? I thought even for a deal that required that you spend a specified dollar amount on product that meant BEFORE coupons.

Well, I was thinking the same thing about the Pantene.. it's the same situation. I am planning to get the Pro Clinical White toothpaste this morning (once I know the Catalina has reset) so I guess we will see.. If it works I will let you know.

He was NOT right. For the most part it does not matter if you use a coupon for the product, the RR is still going to print. What probably happened was the RR just wasn't programed into the computer yet. From what I understand most RR aren't ready at the 24 hour stores until sometime between 3-6 a.m. The sale prices work on Sat. eve. but as pp said the RR don't.

So this week I noticed that the Gillette Proglide Razors are again giving $5 RR.

I was wondering if you're able to use RR from a prior purchase of the same razor towards a new one.

Example Transaction:

Gillette Proglide Razor= $9.89
-$4 Manuf. Coupon
=$5.89
-$5 RR from Gillette Proglide Purchase
=$.89 and then they also give me another $5 RR??

Can I keep using the $5 RR they give me to keep getting more razors???

Sorry, I'm new to this and I have 10 coupons for $4 off so that would be AWESOME!

The P&G RRs expressly exclude using them to purchase P&G products, so you can't roll them. However, you could roll the razor RR into another, non-P&G promo, and then roll the other RR back into the razor promo.

Is it just me or is Walgreens the most difficult drug store to use coupons at? I received some RR's and am having the hardest time using them! I feel like I need a degree in Walgreens Catalina or something just to know how to save a buck!

Heres the deal: I had 4 coupons for Captn crunch that is on sale this week for $1.75 a box. The coupon was &1/2. Good deal. I also had a walgreens catalina for $1 off. I was told I coulld not use it.

I thought as long as I had more items than coupons I was good? Anyone have any idea why I coulnt use it. The cashier seemed to think it was because I used 2 coupons on the four items and I couldnt use another coupon on something I already used a coupon on. I guess that is what happened.

Anyhow... I got 4 boxes for 5 bucks and I think that is pretty good. (1.25 a box)

Yes, that is what happened. You needed a small filler to be able to use the RR too. Even though you had more items the coupon that was 1/2 attaches to both boxes of cereal. Therefore it counted as item to coupon ratio , if you kwim.

The cashier was right. You had 2 $1/2 MQs that attached to a total of 4 boxes of cereal. In order to use the other MQ for $1/1, you would need to purchase a fifth box.

2 questions..

1. i bought 4 toothbrushes @.99 each.. and used 2 $2.00 coupons.

total was 3.96 plus tax.. so total of 4.23

do i need a filler since before tax total was under $4.00? i used a candy bar at .39 and paid .66 total out of pocket.

2. the register printed me some kind of coupon thing.. it says on the left side

Not a redeemable coupon
buy reach toothbrushes between 6/1/10 and 6/24/10
and save up to $4.00 on a future order with coupon

to the right of that it says..

purchase requirements:
buy (1) & get $x.xx..or
buy (2) & get $x.xx..or
buy (x) or more & get $x.xx...
...coupon off your next shopping order

offer expires x/xx/xx.

how does this thing work and im pretty sure but its 2011 now right?

Has anyone else heard that Walgreen's is changing it's coupon policy again? I read a few minutes ago that they will be putting a stop to multipule transactions, and we will be able to do one deal per visit? The lady that posted this said they had this notice posted on all of this weeks deal items in her store (Gillette, Softsoap, etc)..

If i make one transaction which items provide a register rebate..... Would there be any reason that i would only get 1 rr.
For example, if i buy blades and i am supposed to get $4.00 rr and i also buy eye solution which has a rr of $7.99 and i have some additional fillers, would i get both rr printed out? Or would only one come out?

So I was wondering, if I bought something that gave a RR and used the RR already, could I still return said item for full price? How's that work?

Here's my example. Today I bought 4 Suave body lotions 4/$12. I used two BOGO coupons so I paid $6 and got $4RR. I already used the RR later. I get home and realize I really didn't need the lotions and think it's best to return them. What will I get back??

I have so many problems at Walgreens. If the catalina does not print and they tell me it's because I used coupons, I tell them I don't want the items and go to another walgreens.

Devstar

If it doesn't print don't leave!
Ask if the catalina machine is on and working and has paper in it.

Ask them to try ringing the purchase without coupons and see if the RR prints (that will show them that it's not because of coupons).

Remember you can't use a RR from one deal on another of the same deal! You won't get another RR.

Show them the ad. The ad also frequently says "coupons in most Sunday papers" right on the picture!

Don't give up too easily. Remember that you are taking advantage of THEIR advertised sales/deals/rewards. You are entitled to your RR if you purchased the correct items. Sometimes I even tell the cashier as I am putting the items on the counter "I should get a RR for that" and "here's my coupons for that" , etc. so they are knowing what to expect as they are ringing stuff up. Eventually the cashiers at the store I shop got to know and recognize me and they know I am there to get the deals and RR and they are nice to me. They know to expect RR to be printing when I check out.

All RR deals are one printed per transaction so for the same deal, you'd have to do them separately to get an RR for each.

I'm sorry if this question has been answered before, I just read through 20+ pages of this thread and didn't find a clear answer, so I thought it might be worth asking again.

Next week there is a RR promotion for $4 WYB $15 of Purex, Angel Soft, or Sparkle. To be eligible to receive the RR, do you have to purchase products with a total value of $15, or with an OOP cost of $15? I'm basically wondering how using coupons affects what you have to purchase in order to receive the RR.

I have two $1/1 Purex coupons and a $2 RR from the Nivea for Men promotion last week. It's my understanding that since the RR is from a different promotion, I should be able to use it and still get my new RR. So if I got two Angel Soft and two Purex (retail price of $16 total) and used those coupons (OOP total $12), should I still get the $4 RR? Or would I have to throw in another Purex to make my OOP total $15?

Your total is before coupons. The transacation you plan on doing will work fine. You don't need to throw anything else in.

Hi everyone! Maybe this is posted already but I did not see it. I went to Walgreens today (actually two different stores to find everything I needed) and this is the second time I had a problem receiving an advertised RR from a transaction that I used another RR on but it was not the same manufacturer (at one store in particular). I bought the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor System (power) and the first problem was that it rang up at $11.99 when the sale price as advertised (with picture) is $9.89 and there was a label on the shelf for the sale price under the manual and the power razors. :sad3:

I did not see that at first (a mistake on my part but it was so crazy at this store) but when I did not receive the RR after the transaction was complete I asked to see the manager (store manager on his name tag). I know this means it did not ring up properly. Anyway, I explained the situation and showed him the ad and pointed out the power razor picture (and the beauty advisor who stuck her nose in the conversation) and he said "well then you used a mfr. coupon then you can't get a RR back!" I said, "no I used different mfr. coupons so that is not accurate." He said, "well, I don't know". I said look, I am very aware of Walgreens coupons policies as well as the fact that you can't use a RR from a manufacturer and receive a RR for an item from the same manufacturer. The manager said to me "well I don't know, other customers had the same problem...." needless to say we did not get very far. Has anyone tried to buy the Power razor with this deal? Also, at the same store I did not get the RR for the Airwick freshmatic! But I did get the RR for the Lysol Neutra Air Freshmatic at a different Wags store. This is supposed to be the same deal. I did not use the same manufacturer RR as I was to receive back and they are pictured in the sale ad. I might never know but I think I am not going to return to that one Wags store in particular because I just have terrible luck there and the manager doesn't seem very well informed or maybe he is just not able to communicate/explain very well or something. Yes I got the RR for the power razor twice. Did you get ANY RR at this store at all for anything? Maybe they didn't have the machine on or it was out of paper? Or they didn't have their RR deals programmed? Sounds like the mgr was trying to play dumb. Call catalina and get your RR due to you!

The only time this really matters is Proctor & Gamble. The main thing to know is that you can't roll P&G RRs (due to the wording on the RR excluding purchasing P&G products) and you can't roll a RR into the same promotion and expect to get another RR to print.

If one manufacturer has two DIFFERENT promos that week, you can usually roll those (except P&G) unless there's a glitch (such as they have the same $ amount or the same barcode).

Hope that helps.

We'll post July's as soon as we get it. Normally, you can find the shelf tags in your local stores (for current promotions), or keep an eye on HCW for the deals!

ive been reading alot of these posts about RR's. But, I"m confused. I'm currently sitting on a few ECB's from CVS. IS CVS the same deal w/rolling? the reason I am asking, is because I have resorted to only purchasing products, at Walgreens and CVS that are free, after RR or ECB, that way it is like they are holding my money, till next time. I was told awhile back, that I couldn't purchase another product that was going to spit out an RR with an RR. I could only purchase products that had no RR deal. so how are people rolling their RR's? I was also told that if I had 2 RR's and one was worth a dollar and the other was worth 4 dollars, that I had to buy 2 items to equal the amount of RR's, 2 RR's and that both items could not exceed the RR amount, one item had to be less than a dollar and the other item had to be less than 4 dollars. so how am I supposed to work a deal when I can't buy any other products that have RR's with these RR's and I have to have multiple transactions and they have to be less than the RR's? I don't get it? what is the deal? i understand that I originally got the product for free, but why hold my money to have to come back and buy something else that has no deal attached with it? explain please someone thanks.

confused about the RR deal:

cashier told me that I couldn't use an RR to pay for another deal that was going to give me another RR. i had to buy something, that didn't have a deal and I had to spend more than the RR was worth, such as more than the four dollars that the RR was worth. How does this RR thing work really?

There is an "Answers at Walgreen's: Vitamins and Supplements" coupon book. However, it isn't available at Hawaii Walgreen's yet.

How can I get the book. In particular, I need the Osteo Biflex $5/1 coupon in that book.

I use Osteo Biflex daily.

Thanks for your guidance. =)

Many apologies if this has been answered in this thread already. Perhaps we can add this to the FAQ once answered.

Today I bought three $9.99 Pampers packs. There is a deal where you buy $25 in Pampers and you get $5 RR. I used three $1.50/1 Manufacturer coupons, and three $2.00/1 Walgreens Infant Care Booklet coupons. The RR did not print. They said it was because of the Walgreens coupons I used which brought the total below $25. So, they rung up just the three diapers with no coupons and the RR printed. They said they would give me the RR "just this once." Are they correct? Is the total of $25 after Walgreens coupons? It does appear based on the fact the RR printed when no coupons were used that it has something to do with the coupons. TIA for your help!!

It is something new that has started.... if the store coupon makes the total go below the amount needed for the RR, it isn't printing

You could also add in a pack of pampers wipes to get over $25 if you want to do it another time

hi. i'm new to rolling RR's at Walgreens. Not new to couponing though. so............here's my question:

usually what I have done, is with my RR's I would just spend them on something, anything, before they expired. ha ha. but I am now attempting to roll them, as you guys call it. But, I know that Walgreen's says to use 1 RR per 1 item when checking out and that the item must be worth more than the RR. Does that mean before or after Q's are applied?

say i have 1 RR for $4. I buy an item (with an RR coming out later) that is $5.99 or $6.00. I use a coupon to make that item $5, then apply the RR. what if the item is $4.99 or $5 and the Q makes it go to under $4? can I still use the $4 RR to pay for it? since the item technically started out higher than the RR? also: how do you find out what company puts out what product? for instance: last time, I did the Mitchum deal: 2 for $6, used 2 Q's and received $4 in RR's. I want to do the Irish Spring deal this week at Wags, but it's for 2 products not one. should I just do the Scundi deal? since I only have 1 RR?

i'm so confused:sad3:

This is from Walgreens policy:
The RR coupon value cannot exceed the total purchase amount. No cash back and no cash value for RR coupon.
See this thread for more info http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/walgreens/356100-walgreens-coupon-policy-now-online.html

So if you use your $4 to pay for a transaction with a total of less than $4, you will not be getting your full $4, you would be throwing away the difference, but I guess that is better than letting it expire and not using it at all. I'm not sure on the Irish Spring deal (we don't use it, so I didn't do that deal). So I will let someone else answer on that. It just depends on how much out of pocket you are willing to pay or if you want to try to pay using only RR and almost no cash, which I don't try to do that often because I don't have time to do that many separate transactions.

Remember too that RR's are considered manufacturer coupons by Walgreens.. you have to have 1 item for each manu coupon you use.. so you would need to find a small filler item or it won't go through. ;)

Can anyone tell me how the Catalinas are accumulated. What makes them print out one time and the next time you buy more volume and spend more and not a one prints out.

I went to Walgreen's today, got a lot but got messed up and have to go back to get the price corrected on one item. Kleenex was supposed to be a BOGO. I got charged 1.00 a piece and no discount or amt off. Seconddly, shows you how you can be duped by signs being so close together and not reading every line. I bought 2 box of Nestles Skinny Cow bars, wgt 4.7 oz total I think. The sign, said I thought .99. At the register the boxes were priced $4.49. I didn't catch that till I got home . Called and told to bring Register tape tomorrow and and they will adjust it.

I did get to use my raincheck on Maxwell House Coffee from 3 weeks ago. 30oz tub was 6.99 I got four with 1.00 off on each tub. The cashier questioned me at the time on getting four she kept saying should only be three, I said the manager went into the back to get them so it should be ok. She finally gave in and gave them too me. I had gone back to get more during the week and they were OOS.

I got a rain check for four from the manager. Finally came in yesterday, so went today, same cashier, should only be three she says, I say, I have a rain check for four and I am getting four and promptly handed her the Q for 1.00 /1 for each of the tubs. She said to me, Wow, that's not right, you should only get three. I said are you questioning the manager now? I guess she got a little miffed and tried to get some money back for the store. No, just kidding. But even when you don't buy extreme and you follow the rules they are on you. I almost said: is it coming out of your pay? I felt like I was doing something wrong, I don't cheat or take things that are not mine to take. I don't take the extra Q in the store if I have them, I leave them for others.:dontknow1:

Guess it's my turn to vent tonight....... It's nice to know there is a place to vent where people understand. Thanks HSW forum.

I was wondering if you buy 2 items that are both listed as getting a RR can you purchase them in the one transaction to get that full amount. Lets say one is going to be a $4.oo RR and the other item is going to be a
$3.00 RR will it all be added on together so then it will be a total of $7.oo RR? OR is it better to do each item that your going to get a RR for on a different order?
