So, I read that Pamida is in the top 5 of national drug stores. They sell everything...kind of like a Kmart. They bought out a local mom and pop drugstore here last year and are in the process of building a full-size store now. I signed up for their emails and from what I can tell, they run decent sales and they do double coupons pretty regular-at least once a month, up to $1.
Does anyone have one near them that they shop?

Further research -- stores are mostly in the Midwest, in rural areas. Looks like they have something like 200 stores -- surely someone around here has one?

We have one here. I used to work for them when I first moved here. I will not shop there. Our store here is a wreck, not priced and no one is helpful in any way. I tried my best while I worked there but they wouldn't even let me price the place. Grrrr. DH went and bought something there today and I get to return it tomorrow. Fun fun fun for me.

I have heard that there are cleaner and priced stores but not this one.

The last Pamida I was in was located in rural Iowa. The selection wasn't much at all, very small store. In the small parking lot, was a post for the Amish to tie their horses too. I'm so glad I don't have to shop there, lol.

Thanks for the input so far. I'm most anxious about the possibility of doubling, since we are in the LOND here.

I used to work at a Pamida in NE Iowa when I was in high school, but that's been a little over 10 years ago (ouch that hurt!:hysterical:) Back then according to my mom the prices were higher than all the other stores. So maybe they got on track and changed some of that.

In general they are very small stores. And unless they are in a city without other stores they are much less shopped. So you have the potential for good clearance. In the past their back-to-school sales were really poor and they always had tons of stock left over.

I have a pamida here where I live,They have started double coupons about 2 months ago.

The place is a mess, the prices are high, they won't take Ip coupons.

I have gotten some things for free with dbl coupons, but it's always clearance Items.

I go only for dbl coupon events, after holiday shopping, and when I've got no other choice,as it is the only store like it around here.I have a larger city I drive to for work.I do pretty much all my shopping there.

Our's does not have pharmacy.

I have a Pamida in my town also. The prices are higher but they do price match and they seem to double always about the 18this of the month, whatever the date is on that Saturday! They dont take IP coupons> I've managed to get alot of free stuff during doubles bc of price matching. Hence Walgreens had Kellogs cereal on sale for 1.99 and I had $1 coupons so I got 15 boxes of kelloggs cereal for free. Sometimes when they also double they will do a 10 percent discount for price matching the first two days/ the last time they didn't take the 10 percent off but the time before they did.

We have a Pamida where I live...Overall their prices are a bit on the high side...I do like the double coupons though and have managed to get a few things for free...they are the only place within an hour of me that doubles coupons....I worked there when I was in highschool...back then they doubled all the time now it is only about once a month.

i used to have a friend that works there. she made a career out of it. poor thing. i agree on their sky high prices. the one she works at is in whitehall michigan and they do not have a pharmacy. at least the last time i was in there anyway. i live in south texas, so i do not go there. LOL i don't even go there when i am in town. i would think it would be one of the first places to go when economy bottoms out. i can't imagine how people can shop there thinking they are getting things for less than other places. i almost feel like they put stores up in places where people have no choice but to shop there....

Yep, I think they knew right what they were doing opening this store here. We have to drive 45 minutes to the west or south to get to any big box stores. We have a Rite Aid here and that's it. We have a large senior citizen population also who will be more than thrilled to not have to travel to shop now.

Sounds like I'll be doing the doubles, clearance, loss leader shopping only.
Thanks everyone.

There's a Pamida in town and I doubt that I've been in the store more than a dozen times in the 10 yrs I've lived here. They are over priced and really not a nice store.
The only thing I will say is that this year they did have good BF sales. They are sorta coupon friendly but haven't ever heard of them doing doubles.

We have a Pamida here. I'm about an hour south of Louisville, Ky. Pamida prices are high, but occasionally they have some decent sales for grocery-type items. Our Pamida does have a pharmacy, but I haven't used as we also have a Rite Aid. Pamida does have some great clearance items, but not as much now that we have a new store manager. They just started doubling coupons about two months ago - up to $1. I haven't tried to shop there with my coupons, because it's so expensive. Ours will only price match for the stores in our area....besides the Rite Aid that includes Dollar General and Family Dollar.

We have Pamida here in MO also. I don't really go there, though, because I haven't had any luck finding what I wanted when I went with a list of things to buy.

I will have to try the price-matching and the double coupons though!

I'm pretty sure Pamida is currently owned by the same holding company as Shopko and they run similar ads. I'd check the Shopko forums form Pamida deals.

We have a Pamida. I went there Tuesday and they had Pampers on sale *they only advertised it as 11.99-2.00 for the sale, but they rang up as 7.99 before any coupons. You could get them for a good deal if you have 2 of mfq.

Our Pamida in Northwest Wi just passed the 19 year mark. They do have high general prices but like has been mentioned will price match and are doubling monthly. I shop every doubles as there is only 1 very small local grocery that doubles and only up to .50. I got Pampers there too a month ago, $6.50 each after coupon. That's the lowest I've ever seen here in the boonies.

I grew up in West Central MN and my mom still frequents Pamida. (She is 60 now). She uses their pharmacy and actually buys things from there during their sales. They are a bit overpriced in my opinion though. The town is about 15,000 people and has a Kmart, Walmart, and Target but is the only box store on that side of town, near a lot of senior housing so a lot of seniors have been going there instead of the 'bigger' stores.
