You can apply for an OfficeMax Business or Personal credit account online, by phone, by fax and in our stores. There is no annual fee!

By fax - complete the credit card application found in our catalogs and fax the form to 800-506-3260.

Credit Card Authorization

When you place an order online with OfficeMax, we authorize your credit or debit card to ensure that sufficient credit is available at the time of purchase. A hold is placed on funds in the amount of your order total until the order is fulfilled.


The time required to remove the authorization, if your order is canceled, is determined by the financial institution that issued your card. The estimated time needed for the various methods of payment are as follows:

Visa/MasterCard - 7 days
Discover - 10 days
American Express - 30 days
OfficeMax Credit Card - 15 days
Debit or check cards - 7 days

Gift Cards




Gift cards may be redeemed online as well as in stores and by phone. Sorry, gift cards cannot be applied to orders that contain Print and Document Services items.

Gift cards may be used to make purchases online. You will be asked to enter the gift card number and PIN into the designated fields during the billing portion of the checkout process.
If your card does not have a PIN, it can only be used for store or phone purchases. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Please call 1-800-283-7674 for assistance.
Cards may be purchased in stores and by phone. Gift cards are available in denominations of $10, $25, $50, $100, $250, and $500.
You can check the balance of your gift card by calling 1-877-OFFICEMAX (1-877-633-4236), select option #1. Any customer service representative can help you. Or go to any one of our nearly 1,000 stores nationwide and ask any sales associate. Or, you can check your gift card balance online during the checkout process.
If you wish to purchase a large quantity of gift cards, discounts are available for bulk purchases of in excess of $3000. For more information on our Corporate Gift Card program, please call our Corporate Gift Card Representative at 630-864-6048.
