I went tonight to the Bethel Park store and saw that they had GE brand smoked sausages (chili, cheese and onions and the jalapeno & cheese). They are on sales for 2/$4 and they had a bunch of the $1 off q's on them making them $1 each (they are normally $3.99 ea).

Well, I split up my order - 4 per order because I was using cats. The first 3 scanned fine and then the 4th one scanned BUT on the screen, it said "exceeded reduced item limit" or something like that and then charged me $3.99 for the 4th one!!!!

She tried everything and it kept charging me $3.99. So, I told her to ring up 2 on one order and the other 3 on another. Well, this time, the 2nd one came up with the "exceeded" message and it again charged me $3.99 for the 2nd one.

We finally had to override all of them and then scan my card before they remained at $2 each. The floor manager said the same thing happened earlier for the bacon that was reduced - it was saying you could only buy 1.

Now, I thought it might be card related - but, I gave them one of my sister's cards and it still wouldn't let me buy more than 1. There also was no sign saying "limit 1".

I really hope this is a fluke - can you imagine when they have their Xmas reduced items how much of a problem that will be?

That doesn't make any sense. I've found that they usually reduce meat items because they have more stock than they need or it is nearing it's expiration date. You would think they would be anxious to get rid of it.

I know they have very strict regulations regarding the meat they sale and the sale by dates. This is only a wild guess but I wonder if they don't want to sell one person too many for fear they will be eating the product out of date. You would think they would realize many of us freeze meat.

I hope we can find out. I have a relative that's a manager at G.E. I might not talk to her for awhile but when I do I'll see if she has any ideas on this.

That actually makes sense but, I bought several of the same kind of packages on numerous occasions before with no problem (i.e., nature's bounty chicken and I used a $1/1 manufacturer's coupon).

Fortunately, they figured out how to override it, my son has been asking me for smoked sausage and I was waiting for a deal before I bought some.

FYI - there are still packages left if anyone else wants some LOL
