Is there a way to send a mass PM to just them? Or a group of them? I love having lots of friends but I'm not up on Myspace stuff and I don't know what to do with a lot of this stuff.

Also, how integrated is this with the other social networking sites?

I'm as lost as you are!! I've never been to MySpace. (I don't think they let 50 year old ladies on there!! LOL!)

I'm actually a little embarrassed when I go to a profile, and see a conversation between two people. I feel like I'm eavesdropping!!

:wavehi:I don't have your answer but I was also wondering. Is there a thread we are missing for ?'s about all the new features? I'm not groovin' on the lack of privacy now. But I'll get over it pretty quick.:wink7:

Yeah, I don't understand people requesting the "friend" relationship. Can somebody explain what that entails?

Don't feel bad. I'm 28 and I don't do any of those social networking sites. I am very interested to know how the 'friend' thing works here too. What is the advantage? Can anyone enlighten us? :question8:

I'm not sure what you can do with your friends here, but I can tell you what you can't do with us.

I mean, don't call me at 3 o'clock in the morning if you need bailed out of jail...

It's not integratable with other social networking sites, it's an internal thing for HCW. We're still learning about all the features as well and I was never much of a myspace person to begin with.

You're friends are listed on your profile page:
an easy way to get to them, without having to search. There aren't many things that you can do with it, but if there is someone you wanna contact, you don't have to search for them, they're on your profile page.

The messaging on your profile page:
quick way to say something, that IS NOT private. Perhaps you want everyone to know what a wonderful person they are??

I can't see posting something on the visitor page, as most stuff between people tends to be private (trades, questions etc) so it's more for "hi" kinda stuff... or "check this thread out" maybe?

I really don't know any more than this, just guesses!! LOL but it's kinda cool!

Besides that... I like showing off my friends!!! I don't know about ya'll, but with my disabilities, all my friends are on HCW, and I love every one of them, so being able to show them off and have their avatar's on my profile page, well, it's kinda cool!!

But, as any great feature, this will probably die down shortly, like the repping thing did! LOL

This is could actually be a very useful tool. I use to use the Buddy list. There I marked all the members who are Mods, Supers Or Admin. Now with the new system you have 2 choices: Friend or Contact. I use the Friends area to mark the Mods, Admin & Supers & the Contacts I use to mark people I trade with, etc. I would have liked to do it the other way around but it didn't happen quite like that so I'm going with the way it is now. Also if you click "Quick Links" there is a drop down choice that says "Contacts & Friends" to eliminate having to go to the User CP. Helpful to me but may not be to others. I guess it all boils down to what works for one may not work for another.

Yeah, but what happens when someone you don't know want's to be your friend? If you "reject" them, do they see "REJECTED" sorry, they don't want to be your friend!!
LOL

So that's why you accepted me as your friend-you didn't want to hurt my feelings :giggle2:

I didn't even know you could befriend anyone here. I guess I don't have any, lol. That's okay, I have over 200 on Myspace and I'm over 50! =)

I would like to know how to send messages to all my "Friends" at one time. lets just say i have 50 friends and wanted to tell them all something, i hate to have to type their nicks, 10 at a time, 5 different times. there just seems like a easier way. if there is, i would love to know it.

thanks

The PM system is set up on purpose so that messages can only be sent to 5 members
at a time; the reason being is to curtail the spamming of members.

I need to know how to send a PM the right way......I type them out and send them but the recipient is just getting a blank screen (with my user name and if they send me something it goes back to them but my PM doesn't get to them!!?? When I do it I push the spot where it says sendPM first and them type what I want to in the space provided and then hit submit but they never get my message.

Please someone tell me what I am doing wrong! TIA

Hmmmm... If you are sending to more than one person, make sure that you are separating the member usernames with a semi colon (;). If you don't do that, it won't read it right. Make sure also that you are actually hitting submit (the left button) rather than preview (on the right)

And be careful I passed on what I thought was a great deal to all of my "friends "and one of my so called friends turned me in so got in trouble for spamming. It was an honest mistake since the reward for friends signing up was very very very small but the deal was so beyond awesome I just wanted to share it with people I liked. Luckily I did not get banned or I would be very sad :(
So be careful what you send and make sure you read all the faqs and rules. There are so many and sometimes hard to remember them all but they are there for our own protection so be sure to read em.

I would think your "friend" would have alerted you that it wasn't appropriate to pass on that deal and if you did something like that again that he/she would have to report you.
And, yes all the faqs and rules are hard to remember, but thank goodness this site does keep us on the up and up. I love hcw!

Me too! not much of a "friend" huh. It really upset me b/c I could care less about the reward of the referral I just wanted to give my friends $10 worth of free stuff. It really hurt my feelings since I think if they were a true friend they couldve just said hey heres the link to this certain rule I think you need a refresher. And then they could report me if they wanted b/c I did indeed make a mistake so Im okay with that but geesh a true friend would warn you before throwing you under the bus.
Luckily we have wonderful mods and admins that knew I didnt do it on purpose.
But the reason I bring it up is I dont want anyone else to make the same mistake.
Rules are updated regularly and sometimes its easy to miss something or forget or think your ok among friends ect. So just a friendly reminder to double check all your rules.
