At my commissary, Malmstrom AFB... The big cans of Muir Glen whole tomatoes are 50c each. The are manuf. q's out for either 75c or $1 off any Muir Glen product. Sorry, I don't remember the source but I've only started collecting q's in the last month, so it's pretty recent. I hope this helps someone!

The .50 shelf price was there at my store, along with an empty shelf. So frustrating!

Can you get a raincheck?

since your store normally stocks the item you can place a special order for any qty - does not have to be an entire case. and you should not be bound to buy them if price goes back up before they come in. verify with your store director; but that is how mine explained special orders to me.

afaik, the comm does not do rainchecks and you cannot prepay for the order

I was under the impression that special orders were an obligation to buy and the price is not guaranteed at the time of order. If what you say in true, then I should certainly pursue. The person responsible for special orders here is most certainly useless for ordering merchandise not normally stocked, but of some use when the other is true. Thanks for the info.

from the FAQ

SPECIAL ORDERS (S.O.):
If your commissary does not normally stock a certain item but ANY commissary does, then you can place a S.O. for that item:
See customer service for special order form or email your store director
You will need the item name and UPC#
You will need to order at least one CASE of item and you will be obligated to purchase
You cannot prepay for the special order
You pay the price it is when it comes in even if you ordered it when it was on sale

If your store DOES normally stock the item you want to S.O., then all of the above applies except you can order 1 or more EACH vice case and I do not believe you are obligated to buy the entire S.O. - check with your store to confirm this.

plmk if you find something different with your store policy. thanks!!

At the Groton Commissary, a can of Muir Glen Organic Whole Peeled Tomatoes (28 oz. size) rang up for me at .50! Hopefully this is the same at all commissaries. Might want to ring on through first, just to make sure.

There are numerous coupons available for this:

A rolling printable (available through the database), and the following:

Muir Glen Product, Any - 09-28-08 SS $1.00/1 exp. 12/20/2008,
Muir Glen Product, Any - 09-28-08 SS $0.75/1 exp. 12/20/2008,
Muir Glen Product, Any - 10-26-08 SS $1.00/1 exp. 1/17/2009,
Muir Glen Product, Any - 10-26-08 SS $0.75/1 exp. 1/17/2009

Also some other ones on the database, but these are the ones I used.
