Just now I went to Giant Eagle and bought some soups. I had 2 coupons which were $0.75 off 2 soups and were supposed to be doubled to $1.5 off in Giant Eagle. However, when I checked the receipt, I found that the system did not minus the coupons amount but add the coupons amount. That is I paid more $6!!

It showed on the receipt:

0.75
0.75
0.75
0.75

But not
0.75-
0.75-
.....

I went to help desk, but the guy refused to refund me!!!

What can I do?

:frown:

Thank you very much

I would call corporate. I noticed the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago, and would never have caught it but it was the last few coupons, and I noticed my total went up a dollar 3 times in a row. They had to call a manager over and they took three off, but I told them they should take $6 off. They looked it over and agreed.
I'm sure customer service has heard the machine added instead of taking off.....I would insist on a 5 dollar gift card..........

Thank you ! But I can not find any code on my receipt. If I called the 800- customer service, how can they check my transaction? I have tried to talk with the guy on the help desk. She is very mean and refused to refund me.

She said :" I have counted it and It is right. I won't count it again. I can not refund you...."

What a terrible experience to shop at Giant Eagle.

I would email them then. I did it last year over a gift card dispute, and they called back and said to take it back to GE for a refund. They were very nice. My store is a corporate store, and the other one that is close by, is a privately owned GE, and the owner is AWFUL about customer service. I will not shop there.......
Try it. You'll feel better that you tried.

Could I come to the CS in another GE store? Or I can only get the refund from the store where I shoped. Thank you again

On your receipt, down at the bottom where it has the date and time, there is a sequence of numbers - it tells them what register and what transaction it was. When I called about a catalina problem, the rep explained to me about the numbers as he was asking for them. If you email them, I would include that line (date/time/# sequence).

That's awful that the CS desk person treated you like that...definitely call or email!

My mom worked the CS desk and said to go in and ask for the manager or manager in charge, after calling the Corp CS number. It is not right that the lady was so flip and rude.

For now, I would go back to the same store and hopefully another employee is working at the Customer Service Desk.

If that individual also says no, I would then politely ask for the store manager.

While I am at it, I would ask them to explain exactly what went on on this transaction.

Coffee,

I would take the receipt back to the store with the details spelled out for them to see.

You said you had 2 coupons. So you should only be out 3.00 instead of 6.00. If that makes you feel better.

If the store doesn't comply, then I would call corp. I never had a problem that corp. hasn't taken care of. I don't call often, only when nessesary.

I had to call the corporate # a couple times. They bring up the actual receipt on their computer-they'll ask you to give them your GE card #. They are VERY nice and helpful. Yesterday, I had a problem with the computer not subtracting 2 coupons also and when I called, the woman is going to credit my GE card, so when it beeps at the register, the credit will show up on my receipt. Try it and let us know. The corporate # is on the bottom of your receipt(it was on mine). They will also contact the store to check out their computers-the woman I talked to said this has been happening alot in the past week. Maybe a computer glitch?!

I think she would be out the full $6.00 because they did not take the coupons OFF the order at all, which should have taken $3.00 OFF the bill and instead ADDED $3.00 to the bill, so in the end she overpaid by $6.00...
