Hey everyone!

I have been doing rainchecks for riteaid rebates for years now. Thought I would let everyone know what I have been doing, to help the newbies, and those who are unaware that you can submit rebates after the rebate period if you have a raincheck.

We all love Riteaid rebates. We love freebies. We love trying new items every month. However, everyone here knows that Riteaid is not very good about stocking their FARs (free after rebate). But fret not! Luckily Riteaid allows receipts using rainchecks to be submitted after the rebate period. Sweet!

If your store is out of stock of a FAR...
1. go to the cashier and ask for a raincheck.

2. clip out the picture and the price in the circular and staple it to the raincheck. This serves two purposes. It will help you find the item later, and it is clear as day if a cashier questions the wording on the raincheck.

3. keep your eyes open for new coupons while you wait for the item to be in stock. This inconvenience to you often times turns into a moneymaking opportunity.

4. check the stores every week when you are you going for your weekly deals.

5. when the item is in stock, buy it. Make double sure that the receipt says "raincheck". Make triple sure you buy the right item. Right size, color, flavor, brand, everything. Carry the rebate book with you as you select.

6. mail the receipt and your information to:
Riteaid Single Check Rebates
PO Box 8340
Wilmington, DE 19803

or fax to: 1-800-457-2243

include your name, address, phone number, rebate offer month, rebate offer number, item name, rebate dollar amount owed to you. I also include my email address.

7. follow up with persistent nagging emails to rebates@riteaid.com
and calls to 1-888-468-4356 x2225

Now, here are the perils you need to be aware of, so that you are able to nimbly guide through them:

1. every cashier will give you this line "oh it is coming in on the truck tomorrow. Come back tomorrow". Um no. It is not on the truck. I will place a $100 bet it is not. I know for a fact that the managers see it is FAR and order a lot, and they send them a few (3 or 4 sometimes!). Don't fall for this line. Use my stock answer "I am busy. I can not come back tomorrow. I am here today and you do not have the item. Please give me the raincheck. Thank you." This works every time. If by some chance you get a moron (I am shocked when I read the posts some people write about their horrid experiences!)...They legally can not say anything to this. If they do, don't get mad, don't fight...calmly call corporate (saved handily on your cell phone) right there right in front of them and hand the phone to the cashier after you speak to the customer service representative. I've done this several times. They will turn a million shades of red in front of all the other customers. This trick only works during normal business hours, when they answer the hotline.

2. 98% of the cashiers are not aware that you can submit receipts if you have a raincheck. They will try to dissuade you because they are too lazy to write a raincheck. Too bad. You know better. Insist. I once insisted and they had to write 9 rainchecks. I couldn't stop laughing. If they had only stocked the item! Sucks for them!

3. Make double sure the receipt says "raincheck". Sometimes the cashiers and managers are improperly trained and don't know how to do a raincheck properly, and they just adjust the price down. No. It must say "raincheck" or the rebate program will not accept it. Insist.

4. make sure you buy the right item. Make triple sure. This is my biggest advise. I've lost money by grabbing the wrong item, and by the time they get back to you to tell you that, it is past 30 days to return it.

5. this process is time consuming. If you don't have patience or time, just don't do it. Just grab the FARs that are in stock and be happy with that.

6. you have to followup. I have lost money in the past because I got busy or frustrated and just didn't have time to follow up. Once again, if you don't have the time or patience, don't do it. They want to make it difficult on you so that you just drop it. That is the cardinal rule with all rebates. Got time and patience? Follow up and see it through.

For a while, a poster shared a number that a nice lady at the SCR answered, and she did the rainchecks right there on the phone. Wow! I was so happy. That was short lived. Now they are back to telling us to fax them in. If that is the game they want to play, we can play it too.

For a while, I found out that they were turning off their fax machines. Nice. I would fax it in, call, they would tell me to wait the 2-3 weeks for processing (couldn't even tell me if they got the fax!), I would call, they would tell me they never got it, I would fax again, call, fax again, call....until I used a fancy fax machine at one of my jobs in Manhattan that detected that the fax number I was calling was actually turned off. Caught ya you little sneaky snakes!!!!!

But the hardest part is that you have to be super persistent. I have done hundreds of raincheck rebate submissions.....so I am here to tell you it can be done.

I've attached a template that you can use. I filled in the name, address, etc...and saved it on my laptop. I just fill in the other stuff (offer #, etc) each time. Easy!

Don't have a fax machine always available but you have a scanner??
Here is what I do:
Scan your receipts. Use faxzero.com. Easy. Free. Just go to faxzero.com and put your name and email and the ra's fax # and upload your template document and the scanned receipts. Click the link in the email they send you. I just did it right now and it took all of 30 seconds to fax. Easy!

One final note:
Some stores will give you the item free right there in the store once it comes into stock. I only know of one store near me (kinda far) that does that, but many posters here have shared their success with this. Call your store right now and ask the manager if they do that. It would be worth the call. Even easier! But make sure you ask him to tell his cashiers too, so that they don't think you are crazy when you ask for an item for free.

Good luck. Go get your FARs!!

If this helps some folks, maybe the mod can sticky?

Thanks a lot!

I have 2 questions:

(1) May I submit multiple rain check items on different receipts in one fax?

(2) Will the rain check rebate be on a seperate check or combined with the rest of the rebates for that month?

1. I HAVE!! Just make sure to put the offer # as I list on my template attachment.
2. separate "ADJUSTMENT" check is mailed.

I faxed one yesterday and received an email today confirming I will receive an adjustment check! It is much faster than i expected!

Love it! Thanks so much! I've missed out on a bunch of RA SCR because they didn't have the items in stock (of course). I had no idea about rain checks. Much appreciated!

Thanks for getting all that info out there!!
Thanks for the info about faxzero.com too! I'm excited to try that out, since I have to depend on my landlord to have the office open to use hers. :rolleyes24:

Although it can be inconvenient to mess around with the rainchecks, I love that they do offer this and it is great when you get a coupon and it becomes a MM!!

I've also been submitting them by fax for a while and have had no big problems. (My only problem was a couple weeks ago when one of the items was credited for the rebate minus the coupon I used! I had to fax, then email 5-6 times, then call 2 times to get it resolved, but all is well now -- like OP said though, follow-up and make sure they process it correctly!)

At my usual Rite-Aid the cashiers are great, but last week I went to a new one. I redeemed three rainchecks for rebate items and while the cashier was nice, she told me that they can't fulfill a rebate if it's purchased with a raincheck. She said she'd just "ring it up" as free. I told her that actually we can fax it in and submit them that way, but to go ahead anyway.

I thought that was fine, until I tried to give her my man. coupons -- she handed them back and kindly said since it was rung up for $0 just go ahead and keep my coupons. The coupon was for $2 for the 10 FAR SoyJoy bars, so I definitely wanted to use the coupon and get my $2 back. So, I had to ask/make her ring it up as a raincheck item. :rolleyes24: She wasn't very happy about it since she had to do it 10 times, but she did do it.
So basically, if you have a coupon you want to use to make money on a deal, make sure they actually ring it up so you get your money.

:thanks3: so much! This was very infornative. I have shopped at RiteAid before but never to get FAR items or rainchecks. Now I have somewhat of a clue so maybe I won't look foolish when I try to get stuff there now. Thanks again for taking the time to post this.

Thank you so much for posting this information. I have a question about the rebates. How long does it usually take for the rebate check to arrive from the time they mail it? They sent mine six days ago and it didn't here yet.

When I inquire with them their stock answer is 4-8 weeks. In the past it would take up to 8 weeks. Lately, it seems it is so quick - a week!

Hope that helps.

I didn't use your template (I did not see this thread before I did my own fax recently), but I did use my own cover letter, followed by the receipt on a second page (which I had copied to make it darker). My rebate showed up on my online account within a few days, and I should have the check soon.

I think the trick is to give them all of the information and make sure the receipt is readable.

Not sure exactly what you are asking here. It seems you are asking how to print the template I attached to the OP.

- Click the template attachment. It will call up on your computer.
- click print

Is this what you mean?

Paypal - no
You get a check in the mail. A real check. Put in your bank real money check. Not a riteaid gift certificate.
Go to riteaid.com and sign up on their website for an account. You do it all online. Easy Peasy.

I advise you to read the riteaid 101 and other stickys before you ask any more questions. All your questions are probably covered there.
This thread is about rainchecks and rebates, not about the rebate program....there are other threads about how to do rebates. We should try to keep our forums clean.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

absolutely. I can not recommend enough that you start by reading. Start with the Couponing Intro section on hcw.com. Read it thoroughly until your eyeballs bleed.

Then make a list of all the stores near you. Proceed to read the 101 that is available for each store near you on hcw.com. These 101's are super. There is one for Riteaid, and practically every major store near you.

Then start with riteaid rebates...and walgreens rebates if you have one near you. Then move on to coupons, double coupons, combining double coupons with sales, catalinas, and more complicated deals like cvs, etc.

But this thread is for discussion on riteaid rainchecks for rebates, not newbies seeking advice. I respectfully ask that you keep the thread on topic...besides you will receive more help if you post your requests for assistance in the couponing intro section!

Good luck!!

My advice is to notice that this thread is to talk about Rebate RAINCHECKS, that is, what happens when an item is out of stock and you want to get the rebate when it comes back in stock after the rebate has ended. It doesn't appear that this is what you're trying to figure out. You'll get much better replies if you make a practice of only posting on-topic in existing threads.

Well, be VERY CAREFUL with rainchecks. I have gotten them several times after a wonderful CSR guided me to them. However, they expire in 30 days. Usually the items are not restocked by then. I have missed several rebates due to this lack of inventory.

If your RC expires just ask them to re-write another RC for the product.

I got an email from Donna with the SCR program. Curt at x8338 is no longer with Rite Aid. She said to follow-up with her at x2225 with any SCR rebate issues or concerns. Should we update the IP?

you do not need to fax receipts anymore just submit receipts online and wait 2 or more days then call rebate center and they can look up your raincheck items on their screens now

I have heard 3 different responses from 3 different Rite Aids. One store said what you said to do. Another store told me that you can get the item for free in-store with the rain check and another store told me that there I am out of luck if the item is not in.

Incorrect. You are absolutely NOT out of luck. That is why I started this thread. To let everyone know the rules, to help you out. I don't think most people know that this fantastic situation exists, and that is why I am trying to help everyone to learn about this.

Every time I ask for a raincheck on a FAR, the cashier tells me I can get the sale price, but not the rebate. WRONG!!! As my advice to you......never trust what comes out a cashiers mouth (in any store) as the rule. Cashiers in every single store I shop in are misinformed, poorly trained, not knowledgeable of the policies at their own place of employment. I just smile, and say "that's ok, just write the raincheck please" and walk out the store and chuckle that I know more about the policies in their store than they do.

Some stores, will provide the item for you for free IN STORE once the item is in stock, with your raincheck. This is very unusual. If your store does that, you hit the lottery. Get a raincheck at one store, do the rebate, get another raincheck at the super duper store and get the item for free in store. You just got two free FARs. Congratulations.

The special fax number appears to be down. I've been trying to fax to it since Thursday. Anyone else having the same problem?

I use faxzero. I try twice a day, every day for the past week and get "fax busy" as a confirmation from faxzero. I called to complain and was told they have a busy fax and oh well. But she did it over the phone as a "courtesy" for me. Boy, I don't want to call Latisha (it is the same chick there everytime I call...what is one poor girl the only one working there??) every week!

Good thing faxzero gives you errors.....otherwise, if I just faxed it and waited 4-6 weeks, thinking they got it..I would be quite annoyed.

Fix your fax Riteaid!!!

Q) Deadline wise ... for any given month, how much time do you have to submit?

+

Right this minute I am looking on the back of the Rite Aid October 2009 rebate flyer and it says:

"Please make a photocopy of this page and save your original receipt(s) as proof of your submission in the event of a dispuate.

October 2009 rebate inquiries must be made by 02/28/2010."

+

So does this mean for any given month one has four months to submit a raincheck rebate?

Q) In the above example, with a deadline of 02/28/2010 ... is that the postmarked date and not the received by date?

I believe it is a postmarked by date.

+

I have rebate raincheck receipts (I have purchased the items) from the month of August 2009.

So, four months into the future would be ...

Monday, 12/28/2009

- or -

Thursday, 12/31/2009.

Q) Correct?

+
