I just wanted to give you all a head's up. I went to King Soopers last night to get the Armor Italian meatballs that are both pictured in the ad and we just got a coupon for it. Apparently some King Soopers don't carry this. (Uh, then why advertise it if you are not going to have it in stock at all?)

After looking in every area I could think of, I asked an employee to give me a raincheck or if they were willing to substitute. She dragged me back to every place I had looked and then called a manager. The manager then repeated the dragging from one spot to another. There wasn't even a spot for them. She told me that they were a smaller store and they don't carry all the same items as the other stores. (Sale items IMO should always be in the store). This took about 1/2 hour (seriously). Then she called another store and asked them if they had any. They did and they have a spot for it. So she wrote me a raincheck for the price.
Not sure how the raincheck will help me if they are going to enforce the 3 coupon rule because I can't get the item for $1 that way. I would have to pay $2 for most of them and I could only get the $1 on 3 of them.

Needless to say, I was almost ready to walk out at this point, but I decided I would check out with my other stuff. The cashier was in a huge hurry and wouldn't let me separate my orders and give her the correct coupons. She kept acting like the coupons were taking money away from the store. She even tried to force a coupon not to double that said DND. The computer had automaticlly doubled it. So she called a manager who said to let it go through. Then she missed a peelie.

On top of that, on the shelf there was clearly a tag showing that the sugar free swiss miss was on the deal which would've given me .10 overage. It didn't ring up right. I didn't see the price go in because I was too busy trying to make sure she wasn't just grabbing things out of the cart ---where I had clearly separated the items into 3 groups.

I had 5 reusable bags which they didn't credit me for. (I didn't care so much about that, but they didn't even use 3 of them and they only filled the other 2 half way.

Needless to say, I was so embarrassed and I was ready to cry. I was ready to give up on coupons all together.

Which KS was that? The one at 64th and Sheridan gives me grief everytime I go there. I hadn't been in that store in over a year and we went there late one night to do some deals. After the clerk rang up my order and I handed her my c/o's she said it was a limit of 3. Huh? That was a first for me and I politely informed her of that. She took my c/o's but with an attitude and likewise for KC's order. I haven't been back to that store since. I go to Safeway now, mine is awesome. I don't have nearly as many problems there.

Hubby and I went Sunday to get groceries and he kept saying "These are cheaper at KS" he prefers them. So finally I said "Ok, after we're done here I'll give you some money to go get this stuff at KS". Well, he gets home from KS and says (with disgust)"They were more than Safeway! KS has raised there prices at least 20% or more! And I spent most of my time waiting in line!" He had never gone with me to Safeway before. We didn't have to wait in line, they were uber friendly and no hassles with doing 3 separate transactions.

Don't give up on c/o's, just don't go back to that store! Also, I find that when I go to the store with a friend or hubby it makes it easier to "discuss things" with the clerk or to just walk out without groceries! I use to feel like crying when I started now I just get mad! I have to keep reminding myself that we are all human, we all make mistakes, they are just enforcing what they think is correct and it's up to me to convince them otherwise or find another way around it.

I went to 58th and Garrison. I sorta live equal distance from 4 King Soopers. Almost smack dab in the middle of all of them. I was just going in for the deals mostly, but I bought several other things. They definitely made money on the deal (. I think from now on I will do business at the one on Wasdsworth and 80th. I usually have the best luck there. I also have liked the one on 64th and Ward. (a little further for me, but it is on the way back from Albies).

I haven't had too much problem with the Safeway stores, but I also haven't found too many great deals that my family uses. I did well in the summer with the Olympic promo however.

The one on Ralston is the one I've gone to for years. How strange! But I have to admit I haven't been in there much lately. The one mentioned above was the first time ever I've had a clerk try to restrict me on my c/o's.

I think this just depends so much on the cashier. I've had great ones and horrible ones at both Safeway and KS. One guy at Safeway I just wanted to tell "take some deep breaths and slooow dooown". He was trying to hurry so much it was taking 3x as long and he was very short with me when I questioned some things (like: you dropped my coupon - no I scanned it already - no you dropped it and haven't scanned it yet). It appeared to me that he was new and thought he was being rated for speed - in which case I can see how frustrating that would be for him when he clearly thought he was somehow "behind".

In any case, the majority of the cashiers at both places have been nice and helpful.

King Soopers has always given me grief so I only shop there when the deals are really really good. The cashiers at all the KS by me (with the exception of one) are quite hostile toward coupons. They act as if it's taking money away from the store. And I too have had a cashier very gleefully go back and add on money that the computer took off for a coupon that said "do not double" but doubled anyway. I do most of my shopping at my closest Safeway as they double unlimited coupons and are very nice about it.

I agree with you ladies about King Soopers. I usually drag DH with me (along with our 2 year old) so that we can each check out separately because they started really cracking down on the coupons. We also end up only doing those two transactions in the one place and then go to another King Soopers to finish off the rest of my coupons. I typically have about 10 coupons at once.

The Safeway right across the street from King Soopers (Kipling & Belleview) does doubles, too, and I can take as many as I want and they don't care. DH loves the Safeway because only one of us needs to check out and we don't have to have two Safeway cards.

One day we went in to King Soopers and we were getting the Purell for free, along with some other stuff. I noticed on DH's receipt that they didn't ring up his .60 coupon and he had three of them, which should have doubled to $1 each. I went back in and the cashier had to dig the coupons out and then she rang them up to give me my money back and they only rang up at face value. I argued as politely as I could that they should be doubled and if the cashier had put them through (we were at the self check out BTW) we would have gotten $3 off, not just $1.80, but that's all she would give me. I've also had some other things happen, but the other day during the mega event I ended up buying the wrong toothpaste (Colgate) and didn't realize it until after I argued with the cashier to get my $5 back I thought they'd gyped me. So, I guess, now we're even. : )
