My sister and I want to do a garage sale this summer and we are looking to see what sold the best at yours! What did you make the most money on??

Mine varies at each sale.
Toothbrushes always sell out
Baby lotion, shampoo, soap always sells out
Wipes (baby and adult), toothpaste shampoo does well every time but doesn't always sell out
Razors go back and forth, sometimes great, sometimes horrible
Makeup usually does well.

Things that fly of the shelves
Cleaning supplies of all kinds: esp. wipes, dusters with handles, multi-purpose sprays, automatic shower cleaners, mop-in-box, vac-in-a-box, anything gadget-y
Paper supplies of all kinds: esp. kleenex, paper towels, toilet paper storage/freezer bags, garbage bags, foil
Hair care: shampoo sells better than conditioner, conditioner sells better than styling, so a ratio of ~5:2:1 works IME. I stick to Pantene, Garnier, Vive, John Frieda, etc., cuz Suave, VO5, Pert, etc. don't sell so well.
Oral care: Toothbrushes @ $1 (manual) or $2 (for powered); toothpaste @ $1 for most brands or $1.50 for really top shelf brands such Rembrandt; Mouthwash 500ml or less @ $1 sell okay; Flossers (http://www.oralb.com/en-US/products/default.aspx#f=0_3&overlay=advfloss&s=gallery&rd=) sell okay but manual floss, not so well.
Shaving: Razors razors razors(!), razor blades(!!), top shelf gel, top shelf aftershave. Tip: Lean towards stocking slightly more men's razors/blades than women's, but slightly more women's gels than men's, i.e. men go through razors and blades faster than women; women use tons more shaving gel than men.
Deordorant: esp. top shelf brands that appeal to adults, brands that appeal to youngsters (dark lables, bizzy graphics)
Skin care: Body wash, lotion and hand cream, top shelf moisturizers, top shelf lip balms, facial cleansing cloths, oily skin/acne face care items << most people will go through several different lines or products before finding one that works for them
Make up: Mascara mascara mascara(!), lip glosses, Bonnie Bell Lip Smackers (all ages go for this), makeup remover cloths, nail supplies and polishes of all different colors. (Some people have good luck with shadows, blushes and foundation; I don't have the knack for it. :poke:)
Baby stuff: basics, esp. diapers, wipes and Johnson's Buddies Bars
Perfume: Oh yeah! But it gives me a headache to be around it so I don't do it anymore
Samples: Decent sized individual items or strip combos of three+ that I get for free, I put in a big bowl @ .25c/each; really small samples I might group in 3s or 4s (tie together or bag up with a bit of pretty ribbon) and also sell for .25c/each. << Helpful for rounding up sales to whole dollar amounts. :)
My rule of thumb is to stock up on things that *I* hate spending money on or I'm sure that other people buy a ton of. Just because I have Q for and it's free doesn't mean it will sell, and I don't like to waste time dealing with things that I don't use or won't sell. As they say, "Time is :money3::money3::money3:!"
