Coin counting is now free at Coinstar Machines (at most GE and SNS, and other grocery stores) when you transfer your coins to a ecertificate or gift card.

From now until December 7th, you can mail in your receipt showing 40$ or more in coins cashed in at a participating coinstar machine and transferred to a ecertificate or gift card to receive a 10$ bonus to the same retailer you originally transferred your coins to.

http://www.coinstar.com/us/html/landingpromo2008

Looks as though the choices you have as to what retailer differs by coinstar location - mine shows:

eCertificates: Amazon.com Cabela's Circuit City DisneyShopping.com Eddie Bauer iTunes Lowes JCPenny

Gift Cards: Borders and Waldenbooks Pier 1 Starbucks

Legal stuff from the website: Obtain an official claim form when you convert in a single transaction at least 40 U.S. dollars (in coins only) into a gift card or eCertificate at participating Coinstar Centers. The claim form will be displayed at the end of qualified Coinstar® receipts.

Valid Dates are 11/7/08 – 12/7/08

Complete the claim form in its entirety.

Submit the completed claim form. Claims must be postmarked by 1/7/2009. Claims postmarked after the applicable date, incomplete submissions, and illegible submissions will be returned as ineligible.

Mail to Coinstar Holiday Bonus Offer, PO Box 6112, Douglas, AZ 85655-6112

Receive the $10 gift card via mail. Allow 6–8 weeks for processing. If terms and conditions are not met, the $10 gift card will not be sent. Coinstar is not responsible for any claims lost, damaged, or delayed in transit.

General terms and conditions: the $10 holiday bonus offer ends 12/7/08. Offer valid in the U.S. only and excludes Puerto Rico. Offer good on qualified coin transactions made between 11/7/08 and 12/7/08. Transactions occurring before or after these dates are not eligible for this offer. Limit 1 per name, address, or household. Void where prohibited. Not valid with any other offer. No cash substitutions. Valid on coin transactions only. Failure to follow the above rules may result in disqualification. PLEASE RETAIN A COPY OF ALL SUBMITTED MATERIALS FOR YOUR RECORDS, ORIGINALS WILL NOT BE RETURNED

Anyone know if you get fuel perks on gift cards bought with coinstar money?

Anyone know if you get fuel perks on gift cards bought with coinstar money? At Giant Eagle (unless things have changed) ...

#1) Deposit coins into CoinStar to be counted.
#2) Receipt is generated showing total dollar amount.
#3) Receipt is redeemed for cash as Customer Service Desk.
#4) That cash is used to purchase gift cards at Giant Eagle.
#5) You get um FuelPerks credit (not with Giant Eagle gift card purchase).

+

Getting the $10.00 bonus on $40.00+ is separate (and probably not FuelPerkable) since it is a CoinStar promotion and has to be mailed in.

I haven't done this in a while so correct me if I am wrong

You dump in $40+ in coins then it asks if you would like to purchase a Gift card with the money. Then you get a slip to use to pay for the gift card and a slip to mail in for the extra $10.

OK... stupid questions...

Say I had two $20 bills. I take them to the bank and buy $40 worth of coins. I dump those into the machine and get a slip of paper to "pay" for the GC and a slip for the holiday bonus. Take the "payment" slip of paper to the CS desk and buy a GC with it (earning FuelPerks). The receipt for the GC will show that I paid with a CoinStar slip (totally not sure how this works), and I send that receipt in for a $10GC for the same place that I got my GC for.

What if I wanted to do $50 and get 2 $25 GCs? Would they have to be to the same place? (Really want a $25 to Old Navy for a gift and $25 Home Depot for us.)

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Ok, I haven't done it, but reading on other forums here's what I gather. You have to choose the ecertificate or gift card option FIRST...then dump your coins in (and yeah - go to bank and get 40$ in coins if you don't have any saved up lol) You have to do 40$ or more - and only to one place (I guess you choose the place on the coinstar machine??). At the bottom of the paper that spits out of the machine there will be a form under a "-----tear here-----" thing. That's what you need to send in to coinstar for your 10$ bonus gift card/certificate to the place you originally chose to have your coins turned in for.

So I really have no idea how it would work with fuel perks...maybe if I run up tomorrow I'll stop and play with the machine and try to figure it out LOL

You actually have to redeem your Coinstar deposit at the machine for a gc in order to receive the $10 promo gc. You can not select the cash option and get the promo. They have a number of diffeent retailers that you can get the certificate for. Amazon has historically been one of those retailers but I am not positive that they still are. i would check at your local Coinstar for their available options before deciding whether or not to do this deal. There is no way to get fuelperks with this deal.

I will certainly be going to the bank and purchasing $40 worth of coins and doing this deal. IMHO, a 25% bonus is a pretty sweet!

sorry to be the suzie downer, but the gc purchases are limited per the coinstar site to different locations of the machines. at my ge the coinstar will only let you buy starbucks, pier 1 or borders books. ecertificates print at the machine for amazon.com and you put in a code that is given to you. cash option on the coinstar is still subject to 8.9% charge. sorry!

I also do alot of amazon.com shopping. My DD did this and she said that it said one per name. Do you think I could get it too, living in the same household?

It's one per household. Do you have another address you could use? Friend/family member? I often use my mom's or sister's address and just tell them to be on the lookout for rebates. Our address recently went from a RR Box to a street name...sooo I sometimes use the old addy too LOL
